The Wharf Local reviews
54Terrible customer service from the two older ladies, they were rude and weren’t helping the poor girl who was obviously new. Took 15 minutes to serve a slice, that was already cut and on display at the counter, with no one else is the venue. Covered the slice in unnecessary flowers and leaf petals, it’s a chocolate browny ffs. The juices we had were nothing to phone home about either. Would not return and would not recommend. Went to the wild orchid (just around the corner) the following day where the service was quick and friendly and the food was delicious.
Great spot, lovely people, inspiring art and pottery. Had a very delicious long black coffee and some sweet sticky cake while listening to, and watching the drama of the waves and the clouds from the safety of our very comfortable chairs. A must visit.
An amazing spot to have your morning coffee & snacks - outdoors on the heritage wharf, watching the fisherman. So beautiful!
Super friendly staff. But…
I don’t think they cope with a large influx of customers. The space can cater for 45? But with increased demand the service plummets. Overall there is good attention given to good food. The disorganised service though taints the enjoyment of the bites.
Great meal, lovely place. Staff were friendly. Was crowded though so if recommend reserving a spot if possible
Service ethic and attitude terrible. After a 50 min wait with a half full cafe, don’t dare ask how long your coffee will be otherwise you will be told how busy the staff are and that you should be grateful to be served at all. That said, amazing location, great atmospheric building and the food looked great.
Great spot but very bad service. We waited 1 hour for our coffee and was told to wait a further 20 min. Never again
We popped in for afternoon tea on a very windy afternoon and were very happy with the experience. The coffee and hot chocolate were delicious along with the gluten free cookie I ordered. Highly recommend
The Wharf cafe has amazing coffee and service, they even bring your coffee out to you on the pier if you're fishing so you don't have to leave your rod unattended. Excellent food and staff. Highly recommend.
The view and the pottery for sale is amazing my smoked salmon bagel? Was so good and the coffee was great
A lovely cafe in a great location. A good selection of meals and snacks served by friendly staff. Good coffee. Also worth spending some time looking at the wharf itself and the museum next door.
One of the benefits of signing in with the Covid app is timing how long it takes to get served. Over an hour for a toasted sandwich.
What a find! What a location! The view is amazing, coffee and pastries were top notch. Apparently the fishing off the wharf is also excellent. Probably super busy during summer but in May we got a little table outside. Worth the trip.
Lovely view and selection of cakes. Slow service, drink your coffee when it arrives or it will be cold when your cake does.
We waited over 40 mins for one coffee and one juice and they charged us $50.
The ladies were rude. The kitchen was chaotic. Yelling at each other.
I would not recommend
This lovely cafe/eatery/gallery offers plenty of tasty meals and great coffee all in this wharfy indoor cosy gallery where you can admire and/or purchase all the stunning pieces of many local artists.
Food was yummy - but you better pack an overnight bag when you order your toastie which by the way was the only hot food on the menu because they don't normally open on Wednesday even during school holidays when there was truck loads of people around. I was accused of being impatient although the the guy that was served after me got his toastie before me. The cook prioritied his order over mine because he didn't order a coffee. Luckily there was plenty of entertainment on the wharf with the fisherman catching their haul.
Great views, nice muffins, ok coffee, decent service. We didn't try lunch as menu was quite limited.
Amazing location. The best coffee I've had on the road trip so far. I didn't have to explain the smaller details of a long black, good service and again, an amazing location. Perched above giant waves and sheltered from horizontal rain, we watched with one eye as fisherman hauled in a giant catch, and with the other a fashion parade of well dressed food being delivered to the tables. The brownie we ordered was great. Some nice pottery and crafty stuff. Top notch.
