The Silverton Gaol and Historical Museum

A lot of interesting memorabilia but the whole place is looking "neglected or tired" that could be better presented

Shows the long history (by Aussie standards) of Silverton. Some work required for the timeline and linking up of the of the artefacts. Unfortunately look like a collection of items belonging to a garage sale sometimes.

Great series of rooms and spaces filled with interesting (and sometimes disturbing) finds from the area's past. Great list of items to be found by kids provided with a pencil and helpful hints by lovely lady on front desk. No Eftpos. $5 adults and $2 under 12s. Money well spent.

Great value for money ($5 entry). It was much bigger then I expected and you could spend quite some time here reading everything.

Great amount of displays and informative.gives a better idea of the local history of the area. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will go again.

Random collection of anything and everything loosely associated with Silverton. Cheap entry though.

Great little museum, well worth the $5 fee. The man on today is very knowledgeable and spent a lot of time discussing many subjects with me. It was very much appreciated

The gaol was great, things I never seen before especially the hairdressers. Beautiful gowns and history. The volunteers two gentlemen were very friendly.

Silverton is a surprisingly interesting town, but this Gaol museum showed us so much we've never seen before.

Amazing full of relics and history.

So big a collection, it was awesome. Made me learn so much about the area and the pioneers that broke the ground. Well done to the people preserving these memories. Thank you for the aircon too.

Outstanding relics, displays and history. Ross is undertaking fantastic improvements. This is a must see.
