The Rockpool reviews
42Always a family favourite for many years. The rock pool is perfect for the kiddies. Plan ahead as the conjoining beach is small compared to surrounding beaches in central Coast and can get very busy. The parking can be issue and the way to get to the beach is via a steep road or steep rock stairs from the Cafe side, which can be troublesome for the elderly or for those with disabilities. Lastly go during high tide, the rock pool is empty otherwise (albeit wet with large puddles of water).
Perfect day to chill with my grandson aged 4 and discover hidden gems in the rockpools, had a fab time
Great place for young children and those a little older that are unsure or scared of the ocean surf.
Bring a bucket and tools for playing in the sand, plus a little net to hunt the very small fish in pools near the rocks when the tide is lower.
Check the tide charts before planning your trip, in case you might be able to go there on the high and watch it change and how the kids interact as the tide recedes.
Now the boat ramp is finished it’s a great spot to launch the boat from for ocean fishing. The Rockpool is great for the kids just wish it didn’t get to full of people at times as not much space at rock pool and beach isn’t that long either.
As an ocean photographer for God, this place was real beautiful. The clarity is exceptional and it’s not too crowded either.
I am a little biased as this place brings back many memories from my childhood.
It’s a great rockpool for small kids and safe.
Lots of rocks to also go exploring and crab searching.
This has the potential to be an awesome spot, however the local government is a bit lazy when it comes to the rock pool.
But not the boat ramp, I guess the councillors prefer to fish than swim!
The public toilets and shower were at best a health hazard when I last visited.
The long flight of wonky concrete stairs have been there for too long without maintenance, on the walk down these stair you have a lovely view of just about every noxious weed you can think of.
The pool itself is so full of sand that it is all but dry at low tide and at high tide it may get to waist deep on a 10 year old!
Not at all like the local gem it once was.
A pleasant location. A small beach with virtually little to no waves, great for small children. The rock pool is as close to natural as you can get. The stones from the rock pool area have been used to create a small wall surrounding the shallow sandy bottomed pool. At low tide there is only a small amount of water in the rock pool. Great for kids to explore and enjoy the different marine creatures that live in the pool.
I absolutely love the rockpool.it is a great safe environment for you to easily watch your children while they play in the water. You don't have to worry about waves or extra currents you can just relax and watch them play. It is a great family place, and there is a fantastic cafe just at the top of the stairs.
Great for the whole family from the little ones to the teenagers, limited parking but worth the walk down and up the hill
Great swimming spot, great for little ones. Was crystal clear this afternoon, could see the fishes
Good place to walk on the beach but after 10pm all teenage go there not good for fishing too much sea weed
Kids enjoyed swimming here. Parking is an issue and the access hill is very steep. Couldn't find a public toilet. Beautiful place.
Parking is a little far away, and high tide was harder to manage with small kids. But it was lovely and relaxing at low tide!
Great spot for kids and families. The rock pool offers a calm spot for swimming. It does have a steep hill with limited parking at the bottom near the water. There is heaps of parking at the top.
Horrible place, dont go there. Lots of sand flies and polluted water. Oh and the smell is bad. Stay clear.
Fantastic when you can get a park close to the bottom with disabled persons whom dont have a parking permit
Well it was a good afternoon until a tuff old grandmother had to arrest her grandchild and put him hack in the lockup with mum. Toilet block up the top very ho hum and not a cold shower in sight.
Love the rockpool, Norah Head is such a beautiful place. Safe places to swim and beautiful bushwalk to the light house. Highly recommend.
Have always loved Norah Head Boat ramp area, quiet, good for little children at the rock pool but gets a bit of lack of water on some low tides.toilets close and is wheel chair accessible.shops are walking distance for the snacks and drinks
have to remember it is a boat ramp but the local are pretty good when launching and retrieving the boats.
Local Coastal rescue base is there.
Good cleaning table for fish and is usually kept clean
Parking is a bit hard to find on week ends but you are able to park up top of road in a safe area.
Beach is lovely and can get a bit busy on the week ends but week days are great.
See you there, cheers Brian
