Sydney Tramway Museum reviews
49 Great experience - travel to a long gone time of Sydney's nostalgic trams
You can also go on to short trips included
My Grandson just loves visiting here. Hats off to the volunteers for all their hard work and dedication. I hope they get the recognition they deserve, for keeping our history alive.
Awsome place great collection and great guys enjoying their time there with these great machines loved it so did the kids every time ive been here
Absolutely fascinating. Very enjoyable. Unfortunately there were a large crowd of school kids there at the same time. So interesting. Sad to say they do not accept NSW Dine and Discover Vouchers.
Great place to take the kids. The staff were all very professional and knowledgeable. The tram ride is particularly fun.
Absolutely awesome, looks like I may have to become a member? It was a great day out. I will recommend it to everyone on here.
Inside the museum was okay. My tip: wear anything light, for it's hot inside (no AC). And probably for agility better to have your baby in a backpack rather than in a stroller, because the aisles between trams are narrow and you'd want to hop on-off the old trams.
We're mostly stunned by the old prisoner's tram there. Completed with some mannequins dressed as prisoner, and the dark dim light. What a very lively ambiance!
But what'd be our highlight from this visit was the young guy who was passionately explained to us some interesting trivia about how the tram was working, acted as conductor, completed with the real ticket punched from his authentic conductors sling bag and that huge ticket leather book. Really appreciate his enthusiasm for what he's doing. Our son was amazed by the tram ride and all that, he's asking for us to go back there 3 weeks later before school starts. Hahah. Boys.
Friendly staff. Nice 2 ride the old trams and pop in2 their museum that houses the trams. Recommend it 4 anyone 2 visit it. John king.
I found 2 old tram tickets from the State Electricity Commission of Victoria on one of the Victorian Trams. I also bought a book on the history of the Red Rattlers from the giftshop. Would visit again to re experience history & smell the paint, leather & wood.
Very nice and interesting display both for kids and adults. We did not know Sydney had a jail tramway! The rides are fun. The volunteers are very friendly and very helpful
Always a pleasure if you like old rail. Ride the trams, check out the museum, small shop with nostalgia and Steets icecream. Small picnic area.
My 2 year old son loved it.
For $20 per adult it would have been nice if we got to travel across to the national park, maybe could have got an extra star.
Definitely a kids/enthusiast kind of place.
It’s a small museum packed with dusted vintage trains. Although it’s unique but that’s probably only worth an hour of your time and not worth visiting twice.
Great place to visit, located a short 5 min walk from Loftus station.
Buy your tram ticket from the inspector to be able to go on a 20 min tram journey to the national park and back.
Highly recommended
An absoultely amazing experience. Definitely something I will recommend you do. Absoultely amazing stuff indeed.
The volunteers who run the tours are knowledgeable and very passionate. The kids very much enjoyed the tram ride through the National Park.
Fun and educational. Visit in February for the festival. Ride old trams, double decker buses, and learn about Sydney’s public transportation history.
What a great place to step back in time, to visit a time when life was uncomplicated, we all rode on trams and have different stories to tell, well worth a visit with the grand kids explore the historic picture's tell stories whilst riding a real tram
A little bit interesting and a little bit fun, but falls short of being great.
The price to enter the museum itself is a little steep given what you get, which is a lot of very similar trams to walk through, but I also understand that they have bills to pay and are run by volunteers.
The tram ride into the National Park is the highlight, especially as you give the waiting motorists a cheesy grin while they are being perturbed at having to stop.
