Sydney Tramway Museum reviews
49Lovely staff and facility. We are lucky to have folks like the team here running the various historic rail facilities in and around Sydney.
Went here with a group of 35. They opened specially for us and we took 2 trips to the Royal National Park station. One in a Sydney tram and the other in a Melbourne tram.
Very knowledgeable volunteers who were able to answer all our questions
Very interesting exhibits in the museum.
Great experience, nice ride up to Sutherland and the national park and a cool collection of historical trams from Australia and around the world. Trams run with a driver driving the tram and a conductor selling tickets (can also buy them at the front counter), which are designed based off old tickets and have their prices in Australia pence! All the volunteers were lovely. Right next to Loftus station so no trouble getting there if going by Sydney trains, but be aware trains only come every 30 minutes.
Had a fun afternoon here with another family with kids. The passion and knowledge of the volunteers who run the museum is great. I was surprised at the number of different trams they have, and even though I am not a train or tram nerd, it was fun and interesting!
See and experience trams from Sydney's past. It was $20 for an adult to enter and this includes unlimited tram rides. On the day I went there were 2 different trams running and you could choose to ride one to the National Park, or to Sutherland (or both!).
There is also a large hall showcasing historical trams that used to operate in Sydney and surrounds. In addition, there is a small souvenir store and a small kiosk.
If you are just a casual member of the public and want to ride a tram or two plus have a bit of a look at the exhibition hall then plan to spend 1.5 to 2 hours here.
Loved this place, we had a ball (we were all adults too) it was so interesting learning about the trams in Sydney and seeing all the places that now don’t have them. Also super fun riding in the old trams, admission price was cheap and well worth it for all the effort everyone goes to. Everyone employed or volunteering (I’m pretty sure it’s volunteer run) are so passionate about it all, and have so much knowledge it was a delight to see their passion!
Started coming to the tramway museum at the old site and been back from time to time over the years keep up the great work guys
A lovely volunteer run museum with lots for train and rail enthusiasts to discover. Really liked the balance between trams you could jump in and 'play' in and the more unique ones that were for the die hard enthusiasts! The volunteers were so fabulous as well, very patient and knowledgeable.
Horrible experience.don't waste your time.gave my seat up on the sanfrancisco tram for an old man and then was told I couldnt stand on the tram and got kicked off because it was full.the staff are awful people.bad day, bad experience, bad people, would not recommend
Tram rides are amazing, they have an incredible indoor museum display too. I highly recommend taking a tram trip to Sutherland then up to the Royal National Park, where you can alight and explore the trails.
Interesting visit for tramway enthusiasts with a number of old trams on exhibit. Additionally, there is a real tram trip to the old decommissioned Royal National Park tram station. It's a view into a piece of the Sydney's lost history.
Great place to spend an hour or two, found the tram rides great, the museum is really interesting.
Food prices in their kiosk are ridiculous
the pies are cold from the oven and the soft drinks are warm from the fridge, take your own.
My little man and I had so much fun here. Lots to explore in the tram hall and the short ride into the National park was lovely. We’ll definitely come again.
Great experience visiting this place. Had rides on the vintage tram to sutherland and national park. Very comprehensive displays too!
When purchasing tickets, the person-in-charge was very impatient. He didnt really scan my dine n discover voucher and said it is invalid. I insisted trying again then it worked. He was very rude to the young helper too. Unsure why but no matter what reasons, i dont think he should behave like that in front of all the visitors. I understand they are volunteers. If he has no good mood on the day maybe should just take a day off.
The Austin Motor Vehicle Club NSW had a great day at the Museum on Sunday 26 June. Lots of trams in the display and we enjoyed riding the trams. The volunteers are great and always ready to answer your questions. Well worth a visit
Very good collection of beautifully restored trams from Sydney, interstate and overseas. The volunteers are very knowledgeable and passionate about their hobby and the long ride into the Royal National Park is great value.
A great place to visit if you're interested in history, transport or enjoy looking at beautiful old public transport vehicles. The volunteers are very friendly and knowledgeable. You can ride a lovingly restored hundred year old tram across the Princes Highway level crossing to the historic Royal National Park station above Audley. What a wonderful way to hear that old ding ding ding!
A great place to see some of Sydney's history. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Huge tram ride. About 3-4 kilometres.
A great place to take the kids. Friendly staff who work 2 days a week voluntarily. There is a nice souvenir shop and picnic area and a little kiosk for drinks, ice cream and chips and a great museum with nice trams for the kids to explore and a lot of history. Unlimited tram rides are a bonus stopping in the national park for a short distance.
We came here for markets held on the grounds and the staff was amazing. A lovely gentleman in a conductor uniform went above and beyond to help us with parking and with accessibility for a disabled family member 10/10 would recommend this place.
