The place is big but everything is very spread out with not a lot on offer. The range of products seems suited to supply the building trades. Service is good from the staff and discounts are offered to those with loyalty cards. I was disappointed with the limited stuff that was there but there are bargains to had in the large discount area.

I needed some fencing so I called before I went in and spoke with a beautiful lady named ashleigh, she was very helpful with things I didn’t even know I needed. Quoted me a good price. Once in store I was served by Ashleigh again and she so polite and helpful. Coming from someone with no knowledge on what I needed she helped in a way that didn’t make me feel silly. They were a great help. It was wonderful the way they were willing to help out a team of students from Maitland Christian School. These students are heading overseas to the Solomon Islands to build a boys dormitory. The Stratco team were straight away willing to contribute in supplying some tools at a discount price. These tools from Stratco will be staying with this deaf community in the Solomons. Thanks again Stratco team for your help in this way.

Shopping for ceiling fans with remote and light. Great prices a lot cheaper than Bunnings. Staff helpful as it is a large store. From tradies to diy too much to mention. Catalogue specials can be viewed online.

Bunning state that they have it all but Stratco came out the winner with an even greater range of stainless steel screws for my caravan.

Pity I cannot give a minus 5 as a review.called in at Thornton a month ago to organise someone to come to my home and give advice and a quote for garage, carport and patio and was advised by email that afternoon someone would be in touch soon. 3 weeks later I replied to that email to determine what their definition of soon is - no response, so this week I called in at Thornton again and spoke to the manager (matt) -he advised me the email I sent would not have been received by anyone (?) and after inquiries discovered they are so busy they don't come out to do quotes! After further discussion, he said he would come out himself and day and time was set - 45 minutes after he was due to arrive, I rang the store and asked for Matt - he was there, apologised and said it had slipped his mind. Wonder if I should put in a complaint re false advertising - my experience is that if I persevere with Stratco it will be a nightmare rather than a dream.

Customer service is lacking at Thornton.
Rang to enquire if you have Sudden Impact for Lawns by Neutrog (as is indicated on your website). First up, your staff member hadn’t heard of either the product or the supplier and said, “no we don’t”. When pressed, and after to-ing and fro-ing on the phone, he eventually says, “yes, 120 20 kg bags”. Great. I go to the shop, ask and get pointed out the back. All bags still on the pallet with no attempt to open them up for customers to pick up (each one is pretty heavy) so too hard to shoehorn them from the pallet packaging.told the manager on the way out I’ll “special order” it from Bunnings. Turns out to be $7 cheaper at Bunnings anyway. Stratco HO.please address your customer service issues.

UPDATE: Have received assurances from HO that the manager is attending to issues raised and will be rectified. Great news.thank you.

New garden centre is appalling with dead or dieing plants everywhere. Staff friendly but they seriously need someone who cares to run the garden centre.

I just had the pleasure of dealing with Ashleigh while purchasing a gate. I must say her knowledge of product was second to none. She put up with constant questions and gave me the advice i needed. When buying a gate in Newcastle, make sure to give these guys a call.

My husband and I just went up to the Rutherford store to buy a DIY roof kit. We were served by Gen, probably the friendliest customer service officer we’ve ever encounted! She helped us with all our enquiries and even helped us get a good price on our roof. I would strongly recommend this company to anyone, especially Gen at Rutherford!

Renovating can be a long, painful process. I don't know what we would have done without the service here - it was consistently good, with one moment really standing out. Staff are empowered to go above and beyond to help you. I really can't recommend these guys enough.

My first time here I dealt with Noah, he was incredibly helpful, he asked about what job I was doing and was able to provide me with some advice and made sure I had the materials I needed for the job.

Visited the Thornton store today. I must say this was my first time visiting and I did not realise the broad range of products this store stocked. I was delighted that the staff were fantastic and I was offered assistance by multiple people. Great customer service I will be returning to this store.

Customer Service here is unsatisfactory, no one knows anything and i have never seen so small be so departmentalised. Went through 3 people just to find if my order has arrived. I had to called them up after I paid in full and 3 weeks had gone by. It's disappointing as this place has potential

I called to enquire about plywood - from the moment the woman picked up the phone she was rude and VERY unhelpful! Either she does not know what they sell or able to give advice (in which case she should transfer the call to someone who does) OR she really just does not care!
