The absolute worst hospital I have ever been to. Rude staff, pointless and unorganised group therapists and really not much support at all. Take yourself to an emergency department and you'll come out better there than what you do coming out from South Coast.

Finally finished my first 21 day program after a couple of attempts. If your ready to make a change than this is the place to be.

Dr Stevenson is incredible. I have been seeing him regulary for over a year and not only has he taken great care of my mental health issues, but also he is very kind, caring and patient with me at every appointment.

It is very rare to find a Dr so passionate about his job and his patients. Dr Stevenson gives you his full attention and time, to work out how you are feeling and what is going on. Although he does ride a bike, I highly rate Dr Stevenson and am very grateful to have him as my Dr.

The groups where very informative and useful. Both Grace and Jay did a great job of delivering the content in way that was interesting and easy to follow. I got more out of a 5 min chat with Jay after group, Than 4 years of psychology.

The nurses are always caring, friendly, helpful and always up for a chat if thats what you want or need.
One nurse, i have forgot her name (she had ordered a elec.scooter if that helps) Was extremly friendly, approachable and easy to talk to. She really went out of her way to help and could tell how much she loved her job and how much she cared.
The blond saturday art lady was also heaps good and made the art room fun.

Kitchen staff and also house keeping team are always friendly too.

Thanks for the opportunity to continue my recovery journey. It is much appriciated.

Dr Paul Stevenson I had a really bad experience with him in person just recently. He is very opinionated and makes u feel that he has abused u with his words and demeanour. He has some bad reviews so I am not alone here. Clearly others have also thought his medical practice and in person demeanour is very unsatisfactory. On a positive not the hospital is excellent this includes everything about the hospital except Dr Paul Stevenson.

The nurses, staff and kitchen staff were excellent. Especially the kitchen staff the food was like a restaurant. The nurses where kind and caring they were top notch. Dr Paul Stevenson was abusive during an appointment so that's the reason for my 1 star.

If I could give zero stars, I would.
I get that it's hard to find Psychologists right now, but even if this place has openings, don't bother.
I was referred to them almost 5 months ago saying they had openings.
My second appointment was delayed 2months because the receptionists lost my paper work 3 times.
I finally went in for my second appointment and the doctor still didn't have my updated paper work.
Then I was told to go back today and get my script, I called them 8 times, they answered once, the phone got disconnected and they didn't ring me back. I rang them back 8 times total over a 2hour period and no answer
So I go into the hospital and they say I can't go in they'll find out for me. I wait at the front door for 10minutes and they say they know nothing about the script. Which isn't true because I was at their desk when the doctor told them I'd be coming back tomorrow to get it.
Apparently my script isn't there and the doctor has already left. What an absolute joke this place is. You're suppose to be helping people with their mental health not making it worse!
Do not go here. They're completely incompetent

The Best mental facility by far, I’ve never been disappointed for number of times I’ve checked in. The nurses are super helpful and always attend to your needs, the kitchen always get you the meals want.
Dr Griskaitis is a legend and the psychologists Nicole Merrylord etc.are awesome.

I have just left SCP after nearly 4 weeks participating in the addictions programme. I found the hospital treatment, accommodation, staff and service excellent in all respects. It has been a life changing and potentially life saving time for me. The psychiatrists, psychologists and nursing staff have without exception been professional, caring and helpful. I would like to especially thank the nurses and trainee nurses on Level 4 who were absolutely amazing.

The support staff at SCP were also brilliant. The kitchen and dining room staff were great. The food was delicious, healthy and plentiful.

SCP offers a range of additional activities in conjunction with the clinical/group programme. I chose to participate in the art room and ukulele. Thanks Wendy, Sam, Carol and Paul for helping me with my canvas - I'm very proud of it. I also started to learn the ukulele. Mark conducts informal lessons which are bloody brilliant! I've gone from not being able to play a single chord to feeling comfortable with a suite of tunes in just a few weeks. It was great fun and great therapy.

Thanks to all at SCP I am very grateful.

Regards

Excellent facility. Medical and non medical staff are all caring and supportive. Great programs and activities which are hugely helpful and you are made to feel comfortable right from day 1.

PLEASE READ BEFORE ACCEPTING AN ADMISSION TO THIS CLINIC.

I had to travel 2,507 km's and interstate to an unknown city to receive treatment at this clinic. Wollongong was declared a covid-19 hotspot in June 2021 and I was unable to return home to QLD without having to undertake mandatory hotel quarantining which was not suitable due to my health status. However, South Coast Private Clinic reassured me to not worry and that the clinic would look after me and my health needs until the borders to QLD reopened. The clinic did not keep me updated at all regarding during my stay regarding covid-19 changes nor my potential discharge date. Instead one Monday morning the hospital management staff informed me that I needed to be discharged the following day and that my stay could no longer be extended 'because my health fund does not cover my admission past 35 days' and "we have other patients who need your bed" despite me still being clearly unstable yet being told "don't pull the suicide card with us". This caused me further distress and a decline in my health as I had less than 24 hours to try to organise temporary accommodation in an unfamiliar city where I only knew two acquaintances. 24 hours did not allow me time to organise an appropriate border pass to QLD, hotel quarantine arrangements, suitable flights or aviation clearance for my assistance dog. If someone had informed me 3 business days prior none of these concerns would be issues. After promising to look after me and my health, they didn't have my best interests at heart and were willing to kick me out onto the streets despite knowing all these concerns and issues as "it's not our problem". I am blessed and grateful that one of my acquaintances gracefully offered me and my assistance dog the option to stay and sleep in his office at his house. Upon discharging, the clinic tried to demand the details of my acquaintance because I was "being discharged into their care now". It may be a procedure for the clinic to hand over a duty of care when someone's discharge is planned but not when you're being kicked out onto unknown streets with 24 hours notice. It's not fair to put that pressure or accountability onto my generous acquaintance. After discharging I enquired with my health fund about this so called 35 day funded rule and they contradicted the above statement and informed me they WOULD have still funded my admission but at 80% capacity but no longer at 100% capacity #CashCowClinic The clinic also needs to tidy up their sloppy policies and procedures regarding medications, especially schedule 8 medications as there was numerous times I went without medications including some schedule 8 medications. The clinic's poor policies and procedures even resulted in my morning medication being withheld entirely due to poor communication and action between staff. I would not recommend this clinic nor will I return for further treatment which is a shame as my psychiatrist was fabulous, the psychologists were educated, the general nursing staff were so kind and caring, and even the cleaning staff were amazing. So whoever made this decision to throw me out on the streets with only 24 hours notice whilst knowing my situation should personally stand up, sincerely apologize and admit your fault and NEVER treat vulnerable patients this way again. It is appalling and absolutely disgusting to be treated in this manner. I hope for a response but I don't want excuses. Own your mistakes so you don't continue to make them. Regards, Emma M.

I have tried for weeks to get through to admissions but no one had answered the phone and I have left numerous voicemails from both me and my mother and no one has contacted me back. I sent through all the documentation necessary for the impatient program but received no sort of contact afterwards. Absolutely a waste of time and effort. If this is how they treat patients before even coming to the clinic I wonder how they actually treat them inside.

Very comfortable with excellent meals prepared by the in-house chef, great gym and activities programs, the Art Room is well stocked and staff are awesome, the Programs are well run and overall the staff genuinely care for the Patients. A very positive experience when a little extra help is needed during difficult times. I would highly recommend a stay here if needed.

Not a place for all. If you have extreme PTSD accompanied with anxiety please seek help elsewhere

If you have a mental health issue you would be likely to be rejected
They are discriminate and very rude
I wear a scarf and they turned me away. I was at my lowest point and needed to be admitted.
Juliana and Helen are so rude. I would never recommend this hospital. I would rather be scheduled at the public hospital even if they were only hospital with beds available.
Highly unsatified
Even the mental health team were very surprised
Disgraceful

Mental hospital- Don’t waste your time or money. 3week course-Patients have nothing to do most of the day, except 2 or 3 short group sessions where all you do is listen to everyone else complaining and the trainer tell you how wonderful the hospital is. No activities except a huge folder of paperwork, you have to fill out and a colouring In room! A Nurse opens your room door to check your their but offers no help. Complete waste of time. My family member came out more depressed than they went in and on twice the medication. It’s run like a business.not impressed
