Selling a family home after more than 40 years is a massive decision. And doing it from another state makes it that much harder. So we had to make the right choice about who we would sell through. Although we knew a few real estate agents, as they like to keep us updated on what is happening in the market in our area, as you know via emails, mail box drops and other marketing tools. Curtis was the only one who had a personal feel. And are we glad that we chose him. Not only did he give us a professional and personal service. His understanding of the local market was impeccable. He adds that personal touch that can feel lost in this modern world and exceeded our expectations in regards to the price we sold our family home for. We decided to go to auction for the sale of the property. Curtis gave us all the information we needed to come to this decision, and guided and consulted us through the process and all costs for setting up an auction campaign. Although we weren't going to auction for a month, Curtis had a list of potential buyers that he took through the home prior. A lot of agents will say they have buyers, but then never produce the goods. Not Curtis, we had 10-15 potential buyers comes through our property before we even went to market. Through this time, we were presented with a very attractive offer well above what we were had in our minds to be able to move on. The family discussed the offer, with Curtis at length. We decided as a family to push forward with the auction. We considered the risk of losing a fantastic offer, but Curtis was supportive and at no time tried to push us into accepting the offer. Only encouraging us on our decision, and reiterating his understanding of the market and what is happening. On auction day, we had 3 serious buyers who had registered for the auction. The bidding stalled under "reserve" and was going to pass in. Curtis then went into action, and the result was "amazing". Bidding started again and then exceeded our dreams.
