REVIEW UPDATE: Review updated after discussing the issues with the owner. I exited my mortgage which was contracted via John from PMG 6 years ago so his operations may have improved but to date my worst experience with a broker or lender.

Pros: Competitive rates
Cons:
- Offered mortgage fee rebates but would not / could not be put as part of the contract. Could only provide a supporting letter to promise to honour the rebate which led to the following issues.
- Every year I had to chase John to credit the mortgage annual fees which I was out of pocket for, which in some instances took months and numbers emails and calls
- Worst of all, discussions over the phone where very rude and abrupt when trying to resolve this very simple issue.

After posting this review, John has mentioned that he has improved his communication and practices which I hope is true. John's mortgage product offering appeals to first home buyers. The first mortgage is very stressful experience in itself without having to worry about these additional concerns.

Fantastic service. John has great connections and always manages to find us the best deal/rate available. Unlike a lot of lenders who entice you in with low rates and then increase over time, John is very proactive, working to ensure our rate remains as low as possible ongoing. This really does make all the difference to how quickly you can pay off your loan. We have refinanced multiple times with John over the years and it has always been a breeze. Can’t recommend him highly enough.

If there is a zero star option, I will select zero star. John is the RUDEST person I have ever spoken to in the field who needs to speak to a client. He was basically SHOUTING couple of times when I was asking a reasonable question. He keeps repeat himself and don't listen at all. No wonder there are so many other reviews also saying John is rude. There are also hidden fees during the period of the loan as well super HIGH discharge fees close to $1400 in total on top of normal government charges, PEXA fees. I have had many home loans and this is the worst experience regardless from service or price (even though the rate was low, but the other costs will surely surprise you and overset the saving from the rate).

I highly recommend Pacific Mortgage Group. The staff are super friendly and highly professional. The mortgage financing rate was very sharp. The team were quick and very responsive to any questions I had. Could not be happier with the mortgage rate and how I was treated.

PMG is run by one person John who is essentially a broker. The service I received is by far the worst I have ever experienced. John became very aggressive over the phone when I requested a preapproval, to the point where he was yelling and condescendingly asking me if I'm going to buy the property or not and to not waste his time. He kept pressuring me to sign the contract of sale so he can begin working on my home loan application but why would I sign a contract without getting preapproval for a home loan first?
Even their home loan application form clearly advises: "If you need finance to assist you with the purchase of property then you should never enter into binding legal obligations until after you have received all necessary finance approvals from us in relation to your loan application. "

Maybe it was a blessing in disguise that I found out before proceeding any further as I still had time to organise finance with another lender who was more than happy to organise preapproval for me before I signed the contract! I can't imagine the stress and issues I would've had to deal with if I proceeded with PMG.

Stay away at all cost!

PMG offers the lowest rates possible, even in these times when RBA rate increases are imminent. Plus, I received rebates on my application/valuation/etc fees. In comparison to most banks or other referrals, PMG rates are just better.

I had my loan approved even without preapproval, but we know our borrowing capacity with PMG’s help in estimating. John & Christine have been amazing and supportive, even going the extra mile to expedite the approval on my shorter finance due date. They are fast, hardworking, and sometimes i have to keep up with their speed, and that’s great! They are my top brokers so far. Thanks to you both! Let’s do business together again soon.

We have recently refinanced our loan with PMG. We received one of the best fixed rate available in the market. Looking at the rate hike forecasts, we are feeling so grateful to John from PMG.

We found John as a quick doer, alongside that comes a bit of abruptness.

John, you work hard for your customers, still there are space for improvements.

We suggest you to get some more organised please.
May be a little bit of upfront written guidance on.a. Step by step process,
b.estimated timeframes,
c.what costs customer will be liable for and what will be refunded by PMG,
d.costs charged by the existing lender (if refinancing),
e.post settlement dealing with lender etc.would increase customer satisfaction/confidence and will bring more business to PMG.

Also your customers are already going through stress, making these financial decisions so please try to listen their enquiry/concerns first and then politely respond (no abruptness please).
To customers the other option is send email to PMG and they are quick in responding to inquiries.

All in all, if you are looking for best rates, then go for PMG.

I have been dealing with John from PMG and for over 10 years. I taken out both new loans and refinanced with them and they have always had the best products available at the best rates. John looks after the whole process from the first phone call until the loan is ready to settle and streamlines the paperwork as much as possible. This is my 3rd time now going through PMG, These are the cheapest rates you will find anywhere in the country! John will find you the best deal on the market. John also takes care of most of the paperwork for you and it all happens extremely quickly.
If your in the market for a loan or refinance PMG is the place to go, you won't be disappointed!

Contacted John after getting the runaround from another lender late in the process. The transaction was seamless and John went above and beyond to ensure we got the deal over the line in the required timeframe. John is very unprofessional and rude. When he wants to contact you he calls incessantly and then texts abusively. The original rate offered changed (went up) during the application as another bank became involved and it was never clear why.

The experience we have had with John and his team has been second to none (this is my second time dealing with John and my husband's third time). I'm always asking specific questions to John, and he always goes above and beyond our expectations in answering every question we have, from loan interest rates for residential and investment, valuations, redraw/offset and rebates. Even my own bank of 20+ years, couldn't match the offer of Pacific Mortgage Group. You'd be mad to go anywhere else!

The worst ever experience I have had since my first mortgage application in 2009.
They promised low interest and then try to sell more expensive product. The sales representative’s behavior was inappropriate very aggressive and rude. Excessive amount of verbal pressure, repetitive phone calls and unnecessary or duplicated documents were required every single day even not related to this service (eg my contacts with Alinta energy or insurance companies etc).
Two weeks were completely wasted with these guys. Application was cancelled due to excessive pressure and rude and inappropriate behavior of Sales representative. Upon application cancelation he even demanded to pay “evaluation fee”.
Beware and stay away.

I contacted Christine from Pacific Mortgage Group over 2 years ago for finance for an off-the-plan purchase that was due to settle within 3 months. I chose PMG because Christine offered the best rate in all of Australia. That was enough for me to be a satisfied customer.

But after a TWO YEAR DELAY, and everything you could imagine going wrong with a purchase happened to me, Christine has been with me every step of the way. I cannot commend her enough for her high calibre of professionalism, exceptional customer service, high attention to detail, and above all, genuine care. Not for one moment did I feel like I was just a number or a file to her. Now in my new home, I am immensely grateful to Christine and her team for making this happen.
