Newcastle Art Gallery reviews
37Very elegant art gallery in the heart of Newcastle City artist are very talented and have a range of beautiful paintings
Great collection of art work with different themes. I visited to see art on climate change, women's rights, etc.
Never miss a visit to this delightful gallery if I'm in the area. Always thoroughly enjoy their exhibitions.
We enjoyed the exhibition downstairs but we were blown away by the display of Torres Strait Islander art upstairs. Outstanding.
I guess it all depends on what you call art, but as an 'Art Gallery' goes, this is one, and it's nice too. Go get some culture and enjoy
Interesting to see unfortunately only half the gallery was open due to maintenance also some great art street out the front
Very nice Art Gallery.
It was cool to see the kids being engaged and hands on on the first floor
The exhibitions were well laid out, plenty of seating.
The WarWar exhibition was great. Don’t take pics though (allowed down stairs)
Toilets are good, and there’s a little sculpture yard near the toilets
Great exhibition of indigenous art and crafts currently on display. Plenty of space to walk around and enjoy.
Small 2-level art gallery showcasing Australian artists. Great place to spend a short bit of time
Nice place and staff. The ground floor was under renovation, so we saw a photographic exhibition on the first floor, which was quite good.
Variety of interesting art. Wish there was more! Staff, Anna? , very helpful and informative. We will be back!
I really enjoyed the George Gittoes exhibition. It was such a an incredible mix of media and subject matter. I liked the diversity and the application of different styles to tell different types of stories. It's a small gallery but they work with the space well and each artwork is showcased well, in its own right, but also works a part of the curated exhibition. The sculpture garden wasn't my favourite but it's not the centrepiece of the gallery, so I wasn't expecting much.
Just amazing all 4 of us were just so proud, and came away with a warm heart. Newcastle is a brilliant place, something for everyone. Thank you
The Newcastle Art Gallery holds an extensive range of wonderful paintings, sculptures and ceramics from some of Australia's leading artists. It has regular exhibitions parenting the work of famous painters like George Gittoes. This photo was taken at the launch of his current exhibition. His wife Hellen began their presentation by singing at traditional song from Afghanistan.
Was touted as having lots of works by well known Australian artists but the top floor has been redone with works of art by one artist only who we didn't really enjoy, so all in all a disappointment, but will appeal to some.
If your an art lover what better then to spend an hour or two browsing the art gallery even better take a friend youll both love it
A lovely stroll along the river with its gums and people picnicking along it. Also a starting and end point for canoeing trips. We love Noreuil Park. Sit quietly and watch the water run by, plenty of places to sit and sketch, playground for the kids, dog friendly, paths for jogging, skating, cycling a fine dining restaurant
Fabulous place.just experienced their annual Art Fair. WOW.a gathering of most - if not all? - independent small galleries from Newcastle exhibiting and selling their wares. The works were outstanding and it was wonderful to meet the artists
Brilliant but too small. Constrained exhibition space limits size or number of displayed works or exhibitions.
