Betty Ockerlander is number one for a reason. She is an outstanding agent who (along with Kitty Chan) defied a ‘downward’ market to achieve an excellent sales result at the high end of our price range for our unit. She is an absolute professional who truly understands the local market and real estate strategy. She is connected to a large number of local buyers and is skilled at price negotiation, all while being very trustworthy and genuine. We listened to all of her advice and it paid off. If you want the best for your home, there’s no one except Betty and her team.

Terrible agency, and even more specifically a person named Richard. Slow, if any replies to emails and messages, and patronising responses when he can finally be bothered. Also tried to keep a bond until they were challenged to take it to the tribunal, to which they quickly caved.
Don’t be fooled by the reviews which are clearly fake/family members, he and the whole agency are terrible.

Salih Ipek is my property manager at this agency. He has been very supportive. I am renting from past 2+ years and it has been a good experience so far. I highly recommend working with him. The best thing about Salih is his ease of reachability and quick response.

The worst in Australia!
We bought an investment unit from them off plan on 32 Essex Street Epping, upon receiving the keys we went to have a look and the unit was flooded with water, not the sales agent nor any one from McGrath Epping lift a finger to help us, I had to communicate and chase the builder directly to rectify the issue and have the repairs done on time before the tenants moved in.

There was an on going water leak from the roof and it was a nigh mare dealing with the agent to organize repairs, we had new agent every few month until we stuck with Senior Portfolio Manager "Grace Hughes" and the fun began, she did not even bothered to answer our phone calls not even call us back, email replies were many days later. On one occasion I went to pick up a key and she did not even came out to say hi, she gave the key to the receptionist.

I'd strongly recommend Tenants and Landlords to steer away from McGrath Epping.

Have been in this industry for 10 years and this is the worst agent that I have ever dealt with.

Purchased an off the plan apartment from this agency and settled around July 2018. Selling agent Tahlia Zheng was great. She asked me before settlement whether I wish to appoint their firm to manage the property and provided some incentives such as rental management fee free period. I really appreciated what Tahlia did so I signed the rental agreement with them. Then it is a nightmare.

The property agent Kate Pan never replies. It took forever for the property to be rented out. After it was finally rented out, I was charged higher property management fee and they did not honour the rental management fee free period in the agreement. It took a great effort for them to finally charge the correct fees. I did not terminate the agreement immediately with them only because I appreciated what the selling agent Tahlia did.

After two years I finally gave up and decided to terminate the agreement. Property manager at the time was Charmila who confirmed that the handover will take place on 29th January 2021.

Keys were handed over by the end of January. However, Kate Pan became the property manager again and this is where the nightware began again. She unreasonably delayed to handover the tenancy agreement and related documents, and took more than a week or two to reply to an email. They continually charge fees throughout and refuses to acknowledge that the tenancy agreement has been ended with their firm. This went on for more than two months.

I have dealt with hundreds of property agents and Kate Pan is the worst that I have ever dealt with.

I would have given the opportunity to McGrath Epping to sell my property (which I am considering now) had they have a better property managing agent. But I will never deal with this agency anymore. I will not ask them to sell my properties in Epping and I will probably not even buy another property whose agent is McGrath Epping.

Landlord please stay away from this agency. The worst property managing agent ever.

Was a tenant at a McGrath managed apartment. When we left, we cleaned the place from top to bottom and left it sparkling. Yet, they still came back to us complaining about a single (just one) bug being in a hallway light - not even inside the apartment. Ridiculous way to treat tenants who paid rent on time for two years straight.

Kate Pan and her team has managed the lease for the unit I rented as a tenant for over 3 years. During that time we have found Kate and McGrath team extremely professional, positive attitude and excellent communication! McGrath Epping is very fortunate to have a professional like Kate on the team.

Always follow up your Condition Report!

At the beginning of our tenancy the condition report completed by the agent was of a terrible standard. The photos were of such bad quality that they did not show any prior damage whatsoever, and it was obvious that the comments had been copied and pasted as there were various mistakes (wrong coloured blinds, flyscreens when there were no flyscreens, incorrect rooms, statements of the house being recently painted, etc). There were also blatant errors - the bathroom of the property had a very obvious big chip in the sink, the condition report displayed a photo where the chip was purposely not showing, and the comments listed that the sink was in perfect condition. Similarly, the wooden floors had extensive damage in various areas, but the condition report photos were of such poor quality you could not see any damage, and the comments in the report also reflected this.

Luckily, I have had negative experiences with realestate agents previously, and took the time to take a number of very detailed photos of the property. At the end of the tenancy, as expected, the agent addressed these issues. After a period of back and fourth our bond was rightfully handed back in full. If I were someone of less capacity or vulnerable in some way and not capable of fighting back we would have lost our whole bond if not more. I am saddened to think of how easily someone could be taken advantage of if they are not as well equipped or knowledgeable of the rules and their rights as we were.

I have since been informed that the agent who completed the initial condition report was terminated around the same time. As tenants I acknowledge that we should have addressed this issue when it arose, however there is an incredible power imbalance between agents and tenants; they play a big part in 'choosing us' as tenants and providing us with somewhere to live - there is the imperative to be 'likeable' and not cause a fuss. I firmly believe that it should be the agents responsibility to complete a thorough and fair condition report, and the tenant to confirm this.

Our experience with McGrath throughout the tenancy was not negative. I have also learnt whilst addressing this matter they have a very thorough complaints process which they take very seriously. I encourage anyone else who has faced issues to go through this process and speak with Jyoti, who handled the matter extremely professionally and compassionately.

I hope that issues such as this can bring systemic change to support the rights of tenants and produce more ethically minded realestate agents.

Henry guided us through the whole process from marketing, defects management, selecting the contractor, liaising with the building management, organizing the viewings for open inspections, and concluding with the lease. We realized a rent price that exceeded our exceptions during this pandemic while we are away here in Perth. Delight to work with Henry. We can't say enough about our positive experience and could highly recommend him.

Bad service from Property managers and landlord. Old unit was built in 1970’s, lots of pre-existing damages. When i moved out, they accused me of these damages. Lucky I was with NSW Fair Trading so I got my bond money in full. Shame on McGrath poor management of their properties; nothing renovated in the unit. Ignores to action on the lists of things that needs rectifying or defects fixings. Never again.

Cholin is the best property manager I have ever met. I am so impressed with Cholin’s professionalism and service, she is very efficient and has excellent communication skills, is always so prompt in answering any queries and action anything that requires attention, and all matters have been smoothly dealt with. I have been with McGarth Epping since 2013. Bought my house and they also manage my rental property.the services and agents are one of the best in the area. I would highly recommend them.

Was a tenant in one of their units in Epping. Just finished up with them after 12months, They said I had a $864 outstanding so I looked up the the problem and the accounts team didn't record the two payments I paid during the tenancy. The first thing the agent tells me is when I can pay that $864 instead of looking for the mistake. What a disgrace. If anyone sees this review and see these 24 oxford st epping Mcgrath on the realestate websites never ever go with them! I'll rather pay more and go with other realestate agencies. Glad I finished up with them.

Easily the worst rental agent we've ever dealt with. Completely incompetent. Poor communication. To start we couldn't even lock the front doors, they couldn't arrange to take the direct debit payments they insisted upon, there was sewerage leaking in our garage for weeks, our bedroom flooded twice. Steer clear. Not worth the pain.
