Lana

As locals, my husband and I have eaten at H. House several times - including Lana opening day, and last Wednesday evening. The food is ambitious and delicious - and the staff are competent and very engaging. I'd like to see more NSW wines on the list - but hey, that's a personal belief we should be local, buy local, support local. I'll be back!

Went here for dinner and was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was! It was mostly seafood and vegetarian dishes - so I would definitely recommend if you are a seafood lover.

The highlights for me were the Focaccia, the anchovies, the scampi on the Lana plate and also the uni linguine. We also had two bottles of wine which were delightful.

Note that the restaurant is upstairs from Grana, we were confused as to where it was at first, but when we went into Grana and told them we had a reservation for Lana they helpfully escorted us up the stairs.

Having also visited Grana (pleasant experience btw) downstairs, I gotta say their strength definitely lies in seafood (on their own) and not pastas.

The meal kicked off strong with the seafood platter (apparently the chef made a mistake and gave us additional pieces according to our server️) and the abalone/mushroom spiedini (my favorite).

Sadly pastas were on the underwhelming side - Was expecting some strong flavors with the sea urchin pasta but it was so mild and not saucy enough.
John Dory fillet with mussels & clams was delicious. Cooked and seasoned perfectly.

Funny thing though I also received great service at Grana but there were no service fees being added to our bill (7% at Lana regardless the group size). Who knows but perhaps a higher-end touched interior plays a role‍️.
