Lake Cathie Foreshore Reserve reviews
30So much fun was had here by the whole family. Swimming, fishing, swam at the beach, and then went across the road for bugers and chips for lunch.
Gorgeous and beautiful lake. People were swimming, playing and canoeing. The lake water was as warm as a bath and the water is not deep at all (though some areas in the middle of the lake are deep). The water was really murky and we tried snorkeling but could not see anything but we had an amazing time. The Cathie beach is also a light swim across the lake and just a 1 minute walk. There were many fish in the lake, and you could even see them jumping.
Really nice. There are covered areas if you want to get out of the sun. Restrooms are clean. There is a playground for kids and a skate park for the more adventurous. Access to the water is easy. Just walk down the grassy area and you're there. We were there as the tide was running out and it was fun to float along with the current as it went to the ocean.
Great place to swim and picnic. Would be great for families with children. The calm waters for the younger ones and the beach for the elder ones. Also a great place to hang and relax with friends!
Really nice, lots of yabbies and bream to be had, then go for a quick jump off the bridge.
This place should be added as a wonder of the world wow I can't Belive how nice this little town is
The people are nice the weather is great the beaches are spectacular wow
35 years of management, this lake has never been better than now, great tucker is close and amenities adjacent on residential side to include a beautiful clean and filtered fresh lake. Needs a caravan park above the caves and its a conglomerate attraction. Eleven out of ten.
Good area for family picnics with pretty flat waters. New skatepark has been built but unfortunately the design all runs into itself and somewhat limits the usability and lines you can make. Bowl is very mellow and great for learning.
Great park and clean toilets. Easy access to the beach and back water. Great swimming spot for the little ones.
Nice skate Park and river to fish in. I think there's a BBQ area as well as a kids playground
Just attended a group b.b. Q.at the main facility's at lake Cathie, which was enjoyable, & noticed a number of fish jumping up out of the water about half way across the lake. Facility's were great.
Nice spot for kayaking, stand up paddling. Good opportunities to fish and swim. Calm waters.
Calm still cool waters. Great for swimming with young children.great for paddle boards. Shop opposite rents equipment.
Great place for the family to visit, great play area for the kids, plenty of seating, a little shopping centre across the road, and the burgers are the best on the coast.
Beautiful sandy beach. Undercover seating & benches, toilets. Lovely place for a swim or picnic.
Calm relaxing river. Seating and BBQs available. Fenced kids park a few metres away. Great spot for kayaking
The foreshore was crowded on the Saturday we visited as it was a 35 degree day in most of the area. Young families flock to the spot because it is free, expansive and safe for their children.
Despite warnings about the health of the water most people attending were swimming. I did not dare. One redeeming factor is that the lake is now open to the sea so it gets regularly flushed with the tides.
Too crowded.
Now it's open to the sea it's great, but only when it's open or else it's not good for swimming.
The lake entrance is still blocked by sand drift through winter & spring. With all this rain it's at the tipping point to be opened. If we wait long enough climate change will raise sea level to naturally open the lake. When the Lake Innes/Lake Cathie study is completed & someone takes ownership of the complete system, put it back to it's historical state, ie Lake Innes (a freshwater system) & Lake Cathie (salt) then correct the bridge over to the "Island" everything will be a source of joy, climate change will be quicker
This place holds so many wonderful memories of when we would holiday there when the kids were young (25yrs ago). SO dissapointed to see the condition of the lake and the fact that the water quality was so bad that swimming isn't allowed! All the little shops across the road are closed, just absolutely devastating! A beautiful peice of paradise gone to ruin! Surely the local/state/federal bodies could collectively do something to rectify this! So sad.
