Ku-ring-gai Fitness and Aquatic Centre reviews
59Pool facilities are reasonable, indoor section needs refurb. Swimming lessons quite average - the teachers are nice enough but the program is poorly organised from our experience over 2 years of attending. Admin and reception staff were consistently very rude (it seems they are doing you a huge favour allowing you to pay them for lessons!) and we had lots of last minute cancellations, changes of teacher etc. Agree with the previous post about temperature - the indoor pool was often very cold with no explanation.
Basic maintenance is left for months. Eg. Missing tiles in pools.
Dirty shower stalls.
The temperatures of the pools are erratic from day to day. However, they have been slowly declining with no notice and no explanation.
Other Sydney pools advertise their temperatures. So did this establishment but it is now kept secret.
Love the pool at the fitness and aquatic centre.
Very friendly staff, Wendy is the best.
Pool is always clean and the cost is very affordable.
First and last time coming here.
Small and dated inside pool.
An overzealous lifeguard thinks it ok to approach parents and reprimand them for not keeping an eye on their child the entire time. Phone calls, bathrooms breaks, emails can happen. Unpleasant experience.
My local lunch break pool. Great place for a swim. Choice of an outdoor 50m pool or an indoor 25m pool. Availability of lanes can Be found on their website and choosing the right time can be perfect for a swim as you may end up alone In your lane. Lovely place to come for some sport
5 star facility. Always spotlessly clean. Could do with raised tube rubber matting in the change rooms
They are a great public swimming pool but they need a LARGE digital and visible clock in the indoor swimming pool area!
I can see so many people struggling to read the ridiculously small clock they have… (probably just myself but I am sure I have 6/6 vision)
This is definitely the best public swimming pool (indoor 25m and outdoor 50m) in all of Sydney overall in terms of lane availability, less crowded than other popular pools, good parking availability. You will feel relaxed when you swim here, a feeling u won't usually get from Des Renford, Ryde, Olympic Park, Ian Thorpe etc
The main downside is that their changeroom/toilet on ground floor is tiny VS the changeroom at Cook and Phillip at Hyde Park in cbd. However, to get around this, I do not bother to change and drive home to shower.
Public transport here is probably not advisable
They also have good selection of ice cream if that is your thing. There are some wraps and healthy looking food but for hot food Cook and Phillip Park swimming pool's little Cafe is way better.
If the outdoor 50m pool is closed, u also definitely do not want to come here after school as there are kids lessons so only one lane for swimming in 25 m pool!
Was in the area for a few weeks, really enjoyed swimming there. Both the indoor 25m and outdoor 50m pools are pools. Staff pleasant and friendly. Strongly recommended.
Super nice pool and staff. Don't use the gym so can't really review that! Good protocol, and learner-friendly. They support the YMCA, which is great. Well lit area.
My first walk up staff were great and talked me through all the procedures and times and were friendly and helpful. Same on the second visit to use the gym.
Facilities are well maintained and well laid out.
As an autistic adult i found it easy to navigate with minimal boundaries.
A man called Joe is a temp manager at this pool. He is rude, arrogant and has zero people skills or respect for customers.
Somehow this place ended up being run (and probably owned) by YMCA, and I wonder if the YMCA management at HQ are aware of who they hired to run this family-oriented facility.
The premises are lovely, in a natural setting.
The admin staff here are so rude and unpleasant. Such a shame as the swimming teachers are lovely and the rest of the facilities are great, but the attitude you get from admin makes you want to avoid the place.
Nice relaxing swim, indoor and outdoor. Just make sure when you exit, don't let your GPS make you turn right onto Ryde road. If so just exit left and go to the lights on Yanko
OK this review is for the swim school.
They are not going to take the advice I give them because they still have packed lessons and people are still enrolling there kids to classes here because of the convineant location, but I'm going to give it anyways.
The teachers are the worst I've come across, it has come to my attention that they allow pretty much anyone to teach here. The teacher comes for like maximum x3 lessons, the rest is sub here and sub there. They either talk to much or too little, give polite advice or rude advice. The most recent teacher I've had (dolphin class), legit said 'this isn't dolphin level swimming guys' well guess what hun WE HAVE NOT HAD ANY DOLPHIN LEVEL TEACHERS BEFORE EITHER take that for a piece of advice for your whole swim school! She also loves to act like a primary school teacher oh boy. Don't get me started if someones mind is wandering instead of talking to them privatley and re-explaining she was like 'dO yOU wANt TO sHARE wITH tHE wHoLE CLASS!
Overall would NOT EVER FOR THE LIFE OF ME RECCOMEND!
Really disappointed with their swim program. Both my children went backwards from the previous swim place. Takes a kid forever to progress with their long winded process to NO PROCESS at all. A waste of our 6m there. Left their program n never returning or recommending. Returning to previous swim place.
Great pool but the lanes aren't policed by the lifeguards for lap swimmers. Every time I've gone there are casual swimmers in lap lanes
Excellent swimming teachers, in particular I must mention Denise who was teaching my child all the way to a shark level and coach BK who is teaching her now and is doing fantastic job.
Very nice place to shill. But be careful. They have a crazy schedule for pools. You may found yourself in situation like we did. You come to swim and all pools are either closed or dedicated for an activity.
I have beem going to West Pymble Pools since i was a kid.
I have lived between Sydney and WA and attended many public pools in my time and I can easily say West Pymble Pool is in the top two best pools.
The pool is always clean, the lifeguards are always on watch and its one of my favourite go-to places for a relaxed day reading by the pool.
