Hunter Wetlands Centre Australia reviews
43Beautiful scenery and peaceful place. An oasis in the city, delicious cafe and wonderful walking tracks with loads of birds to watch
Great day wandering the wetland ponds. Many different types of vegetation and birds. Staff are very helpful. Some great displays of art and reptiles in the centre. The mozzies were the only real issue.
We walked through the wetlands for about 3 hours taking in the sights and learning about the local flora and fauna while we were orienteering. The kids had fun looking for the markers and finished up with a play at the park. The weather was perfect and we stopped for a delicious berry smoothie and souvenirs on our way out. Such a variety of things to do, it was a great day!
Beautiful transformation/reclamation of the land. Lots of native birds and critters to observe. Run by volunteers who are very informative and passionate.
A nice place to go for a walk a view some of the wildlife. Can be a few mosquitoes, but they usually have some repellent and sunscreen at the entrance.
Nice place to walk around and just listen to nature. Love the map they give you with the animals to tick off, great for the kids. Shame that the lack of water has dried a lot of it up at the moment, but still a fantastic place.
Very quiet and relaxing place for a hike or have a fun time canoeing. Great experience all around.
The bridge has been closed now for quite a number of years. The wall has moved then mended. Beautiful trees and landscape down river. A picturesque drive can be undertaken around the lake, whilst the dam itself is easily accessed out of Albury. Spectacular to look at, one is able to walk across the dam wall and also view the hydro electricity plant from outside.
The staff were fantastic and friendly, well planned and the kids (and I) learnt a whole lot about the wetlands and its biodiversity. Thankyou to all the staff for a wonderful day!
We had a delightful four hour visit! We started in the Cafe with an early lunch & coffee. The tables are on a beautiful shady deck over looking one of the lush swamps, full of the activity of birds.
I chose a mocha & Calamari with salad & chips. OMG the most scrummy calamari I've ever eaten! Truly! With a delish side salad and both were a handsome sized serving Over lunch we studied the map of the Wetlands & decided on the walks we wanted to do. We covered all of the paths within the Wetlands area & in the end probably preferred the paths closer to the various swamps. The Riverside walk, which takes in the Ironbark Marsh, didn't quite offer what we were looking for but the Egret Tower, the various observation decks & paths closer to the swamps did! We really enjoyed the viewing platforms especially for watching the birds.
️Val, one of the volunteer staff, was marvelous for offering information about the area & the walking trails, also explaining to us how the wetlands were once just a football field & club house! Unbelievable
I'm looking forward to bringing my family for another delightful day out
A fantastic natural reserve, supporting the conservation of important ecosystems in the local region. Great walking tracks and a decent little cafe for after.
Great day! Native plant sale on Thursday mornings, great feed & lovely service at cafe, lovely variety of bush and water birds, didn't see any speckled ducks. Next time would love to do canoe tour. Golly though, we need some rain. Yikes.
Great walk, lots of birds. Definitly worth visiting the cafe for a coffee. Great coffee with a great view!
Needs a lot of work and improvement. Facilities are dated, and most of the centre is not maintained in any form. Shame that this natural beauty is not showcased or presented well at all.
Most paths are definitely not suitable for prams, with uneven surfaces and large tree branches strewn across almost all of the paths.
Disappointing, but hopeful that this can one day be a great place for kids and adults alike.
Great family fun day out
Using outdoors & exercise
Devise free place to get back to basics & enjoy nature
Only downside was the way the staff were spoken to. I believe the young lady was still learning. Doesn't do well for the cafe's image.
Coffee and food was delicious, but please respect your team members better.
Nice place to visit, relax or just wander around. Thanks to all volunteers who make this place beautiful. May need a little bit of love though.
Tranquil spot - this nature park is on the edge of an urban area, yet you feel miles away in the countryside. The main building has a cafe, toilets, wetlands information and few cases of live animals, lizards, a diamond python and a small alligator or crocodile to keep little ones interested. The verandah overlooks and large pond and part of the wetlands. It was full of wildlife activity. We had coffee and a light lunch at the cafe. The staff were friendly and the food very tasty. Coffee was good with decent serving sizes and a wide choice, definitely worth a try in this popular spot.
Such a nice walk around. Learning from our guide you realize just how much impact no water/rain has on the things that is needed for bird life. Lovely cafe area and big play area for kids.
Great place to take a walk on a sunny day. Soak in the natural environment that has been growing over the past few decades. There is a really good playground for kids plus they can run around and explore the little detours. Relax and see the ducks.
