Attended an inspection of studio by Hordern Properties. Jennifer was managing the inspections. She was very professional. She was on time and provided all the information.

We just recently had an inspection for a tenancy in Sydney with Horden Properties and had a very positive experience with the agent Brooke. She was very polite and helpful and offered us any information we asked about the properties.

Had a great experience this morning being shown around a property in Glebe by Brooke. The place was clean and well furnished. Brooke was extremely welcoming and was prepared to answer any/all questions we had.

It was good. Brooke very informative, helpful, communicative and punctual. Unfortunately it was taken before I could complete registration that same night.

[UPDATE: In the end I waived this experience off, after I found out a family friend is friends with the founder of this business.

In all my lovely decades in Sydney CBD, I had the recent displeasure of dealing with Jessica Yang (Director of Property Management) from Hordern Properties.

At the end of our lease, Hordern forced us to use their "contractor" (actually a worker in their building) ; and attempted to charge us an exorbitant fee for alleged repairs/ light bulbs etc.using text book predatory pricing techniques. E.g I asked on 5-6 recorded occasions for the light bulb type so I could purchase it for market price-a few dollars, but they insisted that only their contractor could do it for me (?), and that this was their standard procedure with all outgoing rental tenants. (Wow)

This was accompanied by the threat they would not return our bond/ deduct money from our bond- for things such as grossly overpriced light bulbs.
After a few weeks of Hordern trying to pressure us with predatory pricing tactics, and fielding dozens of phone calls and emails-
(though I often try to stand for something in this world), I said forget it, I'm working 7 days a week right now on a project, I'm not into fighting people over 10X costing light bulbs- and paid them in their trust account.

Later that day we were sent a notice from RBO stating that we had 2 choices; either to accept their exorbitant extra charges, or pay to lodge a complaint with NCAT.

Obviously, we had paid the exorbitant fees they asked already, so we could only select the 2nd option- which forced us to pay another fee to NCAT.

When Jessica Yang contacted us, she attempted to coerce my wife, with borderline bully tactics (recorded comms) to force us to rescind the complaint filed:

-insinuated she could only refund the bond if we rescinded the NCAT complaint first (this is illegal)
-used thinly veiled threats eg.that she would "counterclaim against us for legal fees for lodging with NCAT" (all recorded emails)

Jessica please note, as a veteran real estate agent; it is your job to represent your landlord at NCAT hearings. You cannot force tenants to rescind a NCAT tenancy dispute by threatening them with "counterclaim of legal fees"; which in this case your office literally forced us to file!
This is not a court of law, and you are not a lawyer.

Since then, she has been calling and emailing us to the point of harassment, and thus has led me to record this entirely factual experience. See you at NCAT.
