Hobbysew Top Ryde City reviews
41The staff was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeble about the product. Congradulation and well done.
Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable - helped me to choose a great sewing machine to suit my needs. Thanks Annelise!
The staff at hobby sew Top Ryde are knowledgeable and friendly. They give great advice and spend time to explain on questions you have on making your projects. I find they are genuinely interested in what you want to make and make recommendations on fabrics and tools based on that. They've also tried to help me find particular patterns on fabrics I am interested in. They're so proactive in asking to get your fabric cut for you when you're carrying them around and looking too, so helpful. You can find a great range of oriental and interesting kids prints here.
Top staff and love the knowledgeable, happy staff and the service given to me when I bought my new Brother Sewing & Embroidery machine recently. Very helpful, thank you. I’ll be coming back for more supplies. BB
This is a well laid out store with lots of fabric options including basic colours, popular colourful prints and lots of batiks. Whilst I didn’t buy anything the staff were being very helpful to the customers they were serving. Has lots of those little sewing items you need. Needles, bias, interfacings, cutting boards etc.
The shop is accessible via parking near Monkey Mania level. It is one of the only stores for sewing and craft material in the area near Ryde.
Nice friendly staff, great variety. It was a little hard to find the first time, but a brilliant spot with parking.
I had lost my foot control &power cable when moving properties of my new purchase brother FS70 from spotlight 1 yr ago. I was devastated that spotlight no longer hold parts to this model. I called brother who referred me to Hobbysew @Ryde store, they were quick & efficient in delivering my parts. Thankyou.
The shop has pros and cons, hence the 3 stars.
Fabric selection is stunning and high quality - I haven't seen Japanese or "oriental" fabrics like the ones here, especially in printed cotton. They even have some traditional indigo sashiko style fabrics.
The embroidery selection good, but there were missing skeins and holes in the stock.
Not the best layout, and lacking in selection of ribbons.
Service wasn't very good. There was a young employee who tried her best to answer my questions, but she lacked experience (not her fault), while the older employees gossiped about their personal lives over pizza, and begrudgingly answered the young employee's questions.
I would shop here for the fabrics specifically, but otherwise, not worth the trip.
Tricky to find. Been there several times and service is regularly low bordering hostile. Can't ask without being hissed at or judged.
Navigating around the shop is more difficult than in the similar hobby shops. This place can be messy at times.
Overall, not a pleasant experience. Though it is the closest hobby shop to me, I'd rather drive further to other shops and get a good attitude and civil staff.
I can only comment on the embroidery service, and in particular the lady who 'served' me. Her attitude was unacceptable and the way she treated me in-store was very rude. She was unnecessarily cold and unfriendly, snappy and passive aggressive with her questions. When I asked her about fonts, she grabbed a cloth with samples and threw it in my direction. What a waste of my time. If she was too busy then fine I understand, let me know, I'll go elsewhere. Which is what I eventually did, but solely because of the way she treated me. That was terrible. I hope no one else has to experience a person like that.
Lots of goodies here to find. Good option of various implements. Not the biggest yarn selection but it's not a yarn store so can't complain
Fantastic prices and even better service. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend
I stopped by Hobby Sew last week to purchase a new overlocker. I was so impressed with how friendly the staff were! I already knew which one I wanted when I went in so I didn’t get a recommendation from them but it was clear to me they had a lot of knowledge! I was very happy with all the extras I received alongside the overlocker and it was great to support a local business!
Great sewing and teaching space with lovely little cafe onsite. Highly recommended
Shame they took away the cafe. Disappointed
So friendly and helpful! Amazing, best place ever for friendly and kind service. So helpful for a first timer.
Annalise was professional and when I came in to check on my work shirts the embroidery was so perfect I thought it was a screen print from a distance can't wait to pick up my work shirts
Absolutely disgusting service I bought an embroidery machine there one of there staff was organised for private lessons she advised me to buy an embroidery program for $2000 extra, we arranged training lessons to resume this month and she wouldn’t honour her agreement with me and decided to ignore my texts moral of the story she advised me to buy a program in which she was supposed to train me and decided she doesn’t want to train me anymore and was rude about it also, the store is supposed to be specialists etc but can’t give me any advice on where to get training it’s an absolute joke they have rotten rude staff and zero care factor
Fantastic variety to choose from, everything that I was looking for and more all in the one store with friendly and knowledgeable customer service. Looking forward to my next visit
Thanks Virginia for helping mum with her sewing machine. Great service and highest quality sewing needs. Highly recommended. ️
