Gerringong Surf School

Rusty, Zac, Kane and Nate were fantastic. For our inland kids who have had a handful of times at the beach, the surf classes were fun and great confidence builders. We plan on coming back and having Rusty and co do more surf coaching. A great way for families to make positive memories together. Also love the gratitude philosophy behind Rusty’s teaching. From first contact they were informative and helpful providing our daughter with a lesson that suited her level. Jordan was a great teacher for our 14 year old, she came away thrilled and excited with her new skills and an excellent foundation for her future surfing. Word surfing tour, here we come!

Absolutely wonderful experience today with Sonny and Jordan as our instructors! There was plenty of fun and many useful tips and tricks. We will definitely be back next year!

We booked a private lesson for 4 kids (2 of them had not surfed before). By the end of class they were all standing up.
They had a blast and all thought their surf coach Nate was a very cool dude. He was very supportive and made the class a lot of fun.

My wife, Sonja, and I have had several lessons with Rusty, Jordan, Sunny, Christian and Nathan. Very professional, friendly, understanding and conscientious. My daughter and I had a private lesson with Jordan. Very patient and friendly. We both walked away pumped and with new skills. Later that day our younger kids had a group lesson - Rusty's vibe rubs off on everyone in a super positive way and Rusty and the instructors are genuinely excited to see the kids master something new (to my surprise they had my 6 year old popping up in no time!). It's the second year we've put the kids in with Rusty, and the kids were looking forward to it since we arrived in Gerroa. Lessons easy to organise with good clear communication for location, good quality well maintained equipment, thorough surf saftey drills at the beginning etc Highly recommended.

If you are considering doing a surf lesson with these guys, do it. My daughter and I, along with 3 of her friends had a surf lesson with Zac and Bailey. The conditions weren't great (very windy) so we were a bit unsure of how it would go. Zac promised we would all ride a wave and he delivered. We had an awesome time and the boys were great. Thank you for such a fun lesson. We will definitely be surfing again. Loved it!

Had my first surf lessons here and it was great! Both Zack and Kane (instructors for my two lessons) were really helpful and friendly! Highly reccomend this place.

I can’t recommend Rusty and the boys (Zac and Bailey) enough. My children were able to develop new skills in a safe and welcoming environment, making new friends quickly in a place that fostered a positive mindset. They discovered they could do things they didn’t think they were capable of (catch a wave on their own!), but also about being mindful and centred within themselves and their own mind and body when learning new skills.
A great program for resilience and connection to the environment, themselves and their peers.

Rusty and his team of coaches, Zach, Kane and Nate are amazing! We booked in for a family surf lesson before Christmas and had so much fun. My eldest at 8 was very nervous, but Rusty and Zach immediately put him at ease. In fact the kids had so much fun they wanted more so we booked them onto the surf, skate and meditate camp during the holidays. We were blown away with the guys communication skills with the varying ages as well as being so perceptive to their skill level and confidence. They knew when to push and when to play. Rusty encouraged the kids to set themselves challenges every day and the smile on my children’s faces as they accomplished these challenges. They each gravitated towards one element of the camp and showed strengths in that element. We can’t thank Rusty and his team of coaches, Zach, Kane and Nate enough for their time and efforts as well as their knowledge and skills and their enthusiasm and love for what they do! We are all looking forward to the next camp! ️

Such a beautiful family business! Our whole experience was 5 stars from start to finish. The professional and quick communication to book in and then the surf lesson which was amazing. Rusty made us feel so safe and relaxed while teaching us. Can't recommend them enough!

We had the most amazing time with the team from Gerringong Surf School. We were a large family group of 12 ranging in age from 5 to 50 years old, all complete surfing novices, and they had everyone standing up within 30 minutes! The three guys that took care of our group - Sonny, Nathan and Christian were absolute legends - so cool, relaxed, fun and yet professional. Thanks for an awesome experience!
