I agree with some of the other reviews. $199.00 joining fee and then activation fee of $199.00. That's just to join! That's close to $400 before your weekly membership. Your NOT that exclusive Fernwood. Pppffftt! Empowering women? Empowering companies profits. Get back to basics and come back down to reality of what women want. Clearly you don't get your clientele. Rude staff to boot!

I don't recommend joining unless you are prepared to pay $400 just in fees to get started. $199 Joining fee, and a $199 Activation Kit fee on top of that just to join! Absolute rip off.

They are a total rip off. They kept charging me $100 every 2 weeks even after my membership was over until I caught up with them and then they made the excuse that they had issues with their internet and could not contact me. Be aware of this business. I am now taking them to the Department of Fair Trading to get the money they overcharged me for back. Shame on fernwood

After COVID, Fernwood have reduced their free classes and have now introduced paid classes on top of the membership fee which in my view is unethical given people are already struggling with their finances. Surely management can see how this is being perceived by its members.

As I wasn’t willing to pay the addition $30 a week, I decided to cancel my membership as I was getting my monies worth and was told there is a $200 cancellation fee. This was incredibly surprising to me given that when I signed up in January, I was told that my membership would not incur a cancellation fee should I choose to cancel. This was after me directly asking the staff member if I would incur a fee.

Really disappointing experience from my side, don’t bother signing up.

As a young mum of 2 it was always hard for me to get back into gym. Signing up to fernwood parramatta has been one of the best things I could have ever done. The motivation and support shown from staff and from other members has been incredible. The most comfortable gym I've ever been to where all members are mature and respectful.

Also the staff in Creche (child minding) have been amazing with my kids. I never have any concern/worries during my sessions.

Always great to go in there to work on myself. There's a wide range of equipment, facility is always clean and the staff are wonderful.

This gym is one of the best I have been in. The staff and very friendly, and all the other members very considerate in the gym. The new management has changed a few things and the place looks amazing!

The gym certainly has listened to its members and has started to introduce more classes. Highly recommend Zumba on Tuesday nights and Saturdays with Rola, you won’t be disappointed with this class.

This club makes verbal representations which it later denies.
Dishonest.
Also the facilities are unclean and unkempt.

Too busy to give you a price over phone? Don't see why I need to go in just to know how much it costs. That is ridiculous.

LAWSUIT WAITING TO HAPPEN
The gym equipment is sooo out of date and worn out it's a lawsuit waiting to happen my back is still hurting from the squat machine the cushion is so worn out and the weights put so much pressure on ur back and now with out protection of the cushion why haven't use updated ur equipment seven hills fernwood is much better but u can't just go to any fernwood whenever u want u have these so called sister passes u only get a few passes a Yr and can go to another gym and then no more honestly instead of buying a fancy mirror and lcd screen for marketing fix ur equipment before someone breaks there back fix the squat machine and update Yr stuff!

Very saddening to see staff from your establishment taking to facebook to post about the recent christchurch terrorist attack and say that "christchurch deserved what they got, " as Louise Roberts did, further exploring her facebook account, i found that she works at this establishment and i hope that this behaviour, that reflects this gym will be handled.

I feel like this gym takes advantage of the fact that its a womens gym because its crazy expensive, its just like every other gym! In fact it has one of each machines except for treadmills and cross trainers, i have to wait to use other machines because theres only one of it.i work during their staffed hours and thats the only time they allow you to use the sauna, so almost over 1 year being at this gym i've never had the opportunity to use it.also when i ring them to cancel my membership they tell me i have to come to the gym and sign some papers which is super annoying because Im still gonna get charged up until i have time to go to the gym and cancel it.also i got my cousin to sign up (who cancelled her membership a few months before me), they had a poster up that said if you get someone to sign up you get a few dollars off your membership, i asked the ladies in the front about it, and they said they will look into it and never got back to me.this gym is a waste of money.

I don't understand why I need to physically enter your gym to get pricing? I really think it's past time you adapted to a changing market that moves forward with technological advances and customer transparency. I called and asked how your PT pricing works - depends on membership I was told - so then I asked how does membership get priced? We can't discuss pricing over the phone you'll need to come in I was told. Honestly, I'm not sure if it is competitors you're worried about, but it really isn't that hard to ask someone how much they pay for their membership with you, someone at my work goes to your gym so I can ask them. But rather than me being able to easily confirm pricing over the phone directly with you and then sign up as I was feeling motivated, I have now decided to go with another gym. I hope you learn something from this.

Horrible staff never have I EVER had worse customer service, the staff are rude and arrogant.save your money and go somewhere else.

Fernwood Fitness has really disappointed me. I signed up to this gym thinking I’d have a good experience and would reach my fitness goal When instead I was bombarded with fines for very little matters in which my account was in arrears and not knowing I went to the gym using my tag and the tag beeped and I was able to get in. Then apparently it Allowed me to go through from my friends tag who walked In prior to me. To conclude that, I was fined heavily because THEY don’t know how to fix there gym tag swiper which STILL BEEPS even if your card is disabled. Never have felt so unmotivated and disgusted by ANY gym. Previously used plus fitness for a year with not one problem and beautiful staff in Guildford which I am definitely going back to. But for some reason with this all girls gym I am now fined nearly $800 and have been treated like nothing rather then the workers trying to keep there customers and help me with this situation, I have advised the staff multiple times cannot use my direct debit account can pass cash onto someone to drop off but immediately took my account to debt collectors instead of waiting for a response. Seems like staff are more important in this gym. They treat customers with so much disrespect! DO NOT SIGN UP! Not worth the headache. Not one staff member was respectful or even tried to create a civilised and affordable payment plan due to the fine on my account which was unnecessary and a fault on there side.

Really friendly place to be with lots of facilities and amenities. A welcoming and safe environment for women to work out! Definitely recommend!

I have been attending Fernwood for the past couple of years and their service has been fantastic. The staff are friendly, professional and always there to meet your needs. They have helped me with my training and fitness goals and am seeing great results!
