We have been contracting to Family Home Designers & Builders since they commenced (and for Roman since his first projects as a new builder over 27 years ago) firstly as HIA award winning carpenters and for the last 15 years covering all their scaffolding requirements and can thoroughly recommend them as an excellent company to contract for.

As a professional company, we deal with many different builders and can state without any doubt that Family Home are one of the best that we have ever had the pleasure of working with. We have always found them to be totally honest, having real integrity and always striving to reach the best possible outcomes.

Unlike so many other builders / building companies, in 27 years we have NEVER had to chase them for payment as they always quickly pay on time, which in our industry certainly is refreshing and demonstrates that they are financially responsible and take their commitments seriously.

Many of their other tradesmen are also long term contractors and we have observed that they too share the same principles as Family Home, any that don't are soon moved on.

Family Homes undertook our challenging, older-home renovation. There were numerous unknowns with the underlying state of the house, but Roman and the team agreed to take on the challenge.
Gavin, the site supervisor, was fantastic in assisting me make decisions about problems found and stylistic choices.
The house now looks fantastic!

As a contractor working for this company I can tell you first hand what to expect. I've gotten a group of contractors to share their opinion on family homes facebook page only to have them remove all negative reviews. This company has little to no involvement in the construction process. They contract absolutely everything out and push for completion as fast as possible. You will be paying for a team of 2-3 carpenters who are handling well beyond a normal workload to maintain a decent wage. The pyramid system does not work in residential renovations. It works with new homes and granny flats etc. By choosing family homes you are receiving a below par product. You are far better off engaging a builder who is personally involved with the process. I can tell you personally that this company has zero care for your project nor do they have any care for any of there contractors. I am certain that the supervisor Gavin Kent is not going into Christmas missing over $3000. Please do not use this company!

To add to this I'm now not only making more money I'm also enjoying a far better work/ lifestyle balance. My reputation as a carpenter is extremely good as I seem to have nothing but happy clients when I am the one dealing with them directly. The problem with this company is that they will. Never accept responsibility for there own mistakes. They ordered a polytarp to small and instead of going 50 50 or coming to a deal they had fronted me with all the expenses. As well as not paying me for additional hours tarping. With the correct system management, good communication and a proper plan there would never have been a need for tarping. Family homes will duck and weave and try to shift responsibility. Bottom line there disorganisiton and poor communication skills Combined with complete utter laziness makes them a terrible company. Oh and there has been no effort by family homes to resolve this. All on me. I'm going into Christmas short money while their pockets are stuffed with others hard earnt money

I had the opportunity and fortune to work with Family Homes and experienced first hand their genuine commitment and dedication to their Clients and support and caring for each other and their suppliers.
Over the years I have worked with many great CEOs. I have to say that Roman stands tall amongst them. Roman created and nurtures this “Family Caring” culture that constantly thrives to deliver the best for their Clients. Their work and final products, be it a new home or renovations are outstanding.
They are a great team that more than live up to their statement: -
“Family Homes are truly dedicated to giving their clients the home they desire. They believe that how a family grows and changes should be reflected in the place where you come together”.

From the first meeting until the completion of the project we found the team at Family Homes to be extremely professional and we are very pleased with final renovation of our "family home". The communication was excellent, the site managed extremely well and overall we would be very happy to use Family Homes again for future projects!
