Elizabeth Farm reviews
69It was fun to being their with lists of knowledge and old history of this beautiful Elizabeth Farm house I loved going there because of the membership I was with ant it's worth getting to this place you can see lots of things and you can do a lot of things looking around getting things and having fun you get to know a lot of history about the 1700 to 1800 and the people are very friendly there experienced a lot of fun thank you for their help.
It was quite interesting to see history in some rooms and seeing how it was to be in the traditional life of the people that lived there. It was pretty easy to look around because you have a tablet with audio where you can click all the different sections. One thing that was rather interesting was the kitchen that had some of the things they used to make food back then. Staff were also quite nice.

My experience has been pretty good, it was pretty quiet on a Thursday afternoon so it was fantastic. Always love learning about new things and historic places around Sydney.
Overall pretty good:)
Well worth the visit if you're an Aussie history buff. First home of John Macarthur who started the sheep and wool industry here. Later, he bought Camden Park Estate (near Camden NSW). Also, a family by name of Swann lived at former home for 65 years. Out of 12 children there were 9 daughters! Only 1 daughter married, as well as 2 sons. One son died age 15 from illness. Most were teachers, except married daughter who was a qualified Dentist! Well known in Parramatta area. Now, house run by Sydney Living Museums.
Had an amazing time, my wife and I throughly enjoyed the day at Elizabeth Farm if you’re in the area definitely worth a visit you won’t be disappointed
Beautiful quiet snapshot of Parramatta and Australia's history. I used to go hear almost daily to enjoy the grounds and I miss it!
Great little place. Interesting story of early Australian colonial life being told in the place it happened. And the experts are very knowledgeable!
Interesting experience, lovely gardens and great history. Only complaint is the cost of $15 as 30 minutes is more than enough time to see everything there is to offer.
Lovely old house. Amazing that it has survived for almost 230 years. A huge thanks to the Swan family who owned it from 1904-1968. Despite many offers from developers, they refused. And it survives for all of us to enjoy. The house isn't a huge mansion, so it's something you can do in about an hour. I was given an iPad which has the floorplan and some interesting videos. The best being the 15 minute introduction - I highly recommend finding a peaceful shaded spot to watch it. The gardens are also beautiful. I was offered a tour guide, but decided to go it alone. If you are in a group, the tour guide would probably be a better way to see it. Lovely staff (probably volunteers).
Lovely shady garden where you can enjoy a great coffee with their delicious scones, jam & cream. Very peaceful.
Super interesting little stop on the tourist map, not particularly accessible due to the age and heritage of the building but we did manage to get a pram around most areas.
Fabulous, amazing history and house. Levi the Blacksmith kept the 4 boys I took entertained for literally hours, no mean feat!
Oldest surviving building in Australia. Built for John and Elizabeth Macarthur. Anybody interested in Australia's history must visit!
It’s worth visit with museum pass. If you are interested in Australia history, storing recommend to visit! The staffs are nice and can visit with old government house and Experiment farm cottage together!
It's not open yet. I give 2 extra stars for the woman who came to the gate after i rang the doorbell. I showed her on my GPS map that this page says it's open. She was very attentive and after i asked her if she knows how long it'll be till it opens, she said some of their Museums are open but they're still trying to get permission for this location to be open {she doesn't know when that'll be}?
Awesome little place to take the kids in the middle of parramatta. Enjoyed Devonshire tea at the end of the day.
Went on an event day, there were plenty of activities including making lemonade by hand. Educational and fun visit to the house. Learnt the art of napkin folding which my kids still remember how to do!
The history of John and Elizabeth MacArthur and their family comes alive in their 1793 built home at Elizabeth Farm. Catch the Parramatta River Cat from Circular Quay and have a fabulous day out. We had lunch at the River Cafe near Lennox Bridge just across from the Visitor's Centre.
Amazing, like a New Orleans plantation in the middle of the city. Loved being able to wander around and do a self-guided tour. The provided iPad with the videos on it was great. Peaceful, tranquil, a real treasure.
