A few years ago my daughter was assessed by Heather Stuart, psychiatrist. I found it quite disturbing at the time that a professional assessing an eight year old would only ask the perspective of one parent in the instance where the child lives 50/50 with both parents. In addition to this, the psychiatrist included inaccurate information that had not been verified in her report. When asked to remove such information she was only willing to do so when the ‘paying party’ allowed her to do so. My daughter was diagnosed with a number of conditions including anxiety and adjustment disorder and numerous treatments recommended. After further assessment by health professionals, including a psychologist it was deemed that my 8 year old did not in fact have either of these diagnoses. After ongoing assessment she had in fact required one of the many costly therapies recommended. My experience with Heather Stuart was sub optimal and I would not recommend her service.

As concerned Parents, we were referred to Educare by our GP. Our first Educare experience was over 12 years ago with our eldest daughter and again this year, with our Son.
Experience speaks volumes and we had no hesitation in engaging Educares trusted assistance again.

After a few sessions we asked our Daughter her thoughts on her visits to Educare. Her reply was " All we do is play". This coming from a very young and honest 8 year old.
Our Daughters time spent 'playing" actually formed the basis of an intentionally relaxed, professionally nurtured environment. This environment addressed concerns and formed a strong foundation in which to work from.

Educare also encouraged a holistic approach supplying resource material and professional support for Parents. This meant equipping all involved with effective tools and techniques to manage required situations. This created continuity of care for our children - the unity of parents+ child + specialist.

Educare= Results.

My son has been using Educare's speech and occupational therapy services for a number of years and they have always been very helpful, friendly and professional.

Early April 2019 we were provided a referral by our GP for our son to see Dr Fernando at Educare. After two weeks, we telephoned Educare to follow up, only to be told waiting list will provide appointment around August 2019, but they would call back and confirm exact date. Two weeks after that, we were telephoned and advised Dr Fernando did not want to take our son's case - we were offered another referral but told we would have to wait until November 2019. Our emergency is now, and we just don't know where to turn to. Am I being unreasonable thinking that a 4 week wait for a reply is unacceptable? Let alone a 5-8 month wait for an appointment - is our Health System really in that much crisis?

Educare offer many different services in one place. I enjoy the convenience of going to one place of Psychology, Occupational Therapy and Psychiatry. Receptionists and administration are always organised and prompt. Therapists are passionate about what they do and treat clients with respect for their autonomy. Educare treats both adults and children. NDIS registered.
