Dr Gary Sykes

My experience under Dr. Sykes has been the complete opposite of the horrendous and traumatic experience I had with my first birth through the public health system. He has been so caring, understanding (especially of my past trauma and anxieties) and has been phenomenal in the care and management in delivering my second child. He reassured me every step of the way. Having him as my obstetrician has even helped to heal some of my own mental scars and I’m so blessed to have been his patient during such a significant part of my journey into motherhood. His expertise and experience is second to none. I have nothing but praise for his skills and knowledge, especially with the stitch work done on my c-section, it barely looks as if there’s been a cut. I was fortunate enough to have been under his care through the swaddle program, but even without this, I would definitely come back to Dr. Sykes for any subsequent pregnancy. The experience of a pregnancy that’s managed and cared for by him is priceless. I would recommend Dr. Sykes to any one.

I had a fantastic experience with Dr Gary Sykes. He is personable, professional and always put my mind at ease throughout all my pregnancies. Over the last 6 years his expertise helped in journeying through two miscarriages to now bringing three beautiful and healthy boys safely into the world!

Dr Sykes handles my pregnancy and birth with confidence and the up most professionalism. He and his staff were available to answer questions and provide advice. He ensured the safe delivery of my child while maintaining my health during COVID. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Dr Sykes managed my first pregnancy and
delivered my daughter 6 weeks ago. He provided excellent care for my baby and myself throughout the whole experience. His receptionist are beautiful and polite, which is an added bonus to your visits. Dr Skyes is definitely professional and highly experienced, I look forward to having more pregnancies managed by Dr Sykes.

This is the husband of Ivana B, it has been over 2 years and i finally found time to reply to your response. If i could give a minus review i would.

You say Liverpool Public Hospital did not follow protocol. Liverpool Public Hospital called Norwest Private Hospital on multiple, multiple occasions to advise them of the situation that Ivana's water had broken.

They were in constant contact the minute Ivana was admitted. I was also in contact with your receptionist and Norwest Private Hospital and called numerous times. We simply could not get in contact with you at the time through Norwest Private Hospital or your receptionist. Is that also not sufficient?

Do Liverpool Hospital have your own personal mobile number when you do not have rights there? Can you please confirm.

When calling your office it does say call Norwest Private Hospital in an Emergency and not your mobile number at the time.

You say you are available 24/7 to your patients but you were clearly not at the time of need for my Wife.

You admit you were aware of the situation of Ivana yet you did not get in touch with Norwest Private Hospital, Liverpool Public Hospital or your receptionist.

You called my Wife 19 hours after you were advised her water had broken.

You also said you wanted to transfer Ivana to Norwest Private Hospital yet the unit Manager at the time advised my they do not admit premature babies at the time. Ivana was 34 weeks at the time. It has been over 2 years so maybe there procedures have changed since then.

So i ask you Dr Gary Sykes how could of you transferred my Wife Ivana when Norwest Private Hospital did not admit premature babies at the time.

In your reply's to this forum you say you are contactable 24/7 but in our situation you were clearly not contactable. We are lucky we have the best Public Hospital system in the world and Doctors and nurses who care so much at these Hospitals.

We received an apology from the unit Manager at Norwest Private Hospital by phone and a official letter from them which was a kind gesture and they aid they will review the procedures and do much better in the future so this does not happen again.

Sometimes it is better to admit fault and apologise as we are all human and do make mistakes every so often.

Also do not forget we paid you a deposit in full and did not receive the service we paid for.

I've had Dr Gary as my obstetrician for both of my pregnancies. After my first appointment, I was straight away confident that Dr Gary would provide a good care of me and the baby. He has wealth of experience and always provides practical answers to all of my questions which made it easy for me to make my decisions. He is caring and always live through his practise motto. I'm really happy and glad to have found him as my obstetrician! Also, his staffs are really lovely. I would definitely recommend Dr Gary to any of my friends or family.

I am extremely greatfull to you Doctor Sykes for one of the best experiences of my life. Thank you so much for delivering my baby and making my journey beautiful. You have been absolutely amazing throughout

Dr. Gary Sykes is one of the most caring doctors I have had the pleasure visiting. I found him very personable, patient and a great listener. He had an incredible way of understanding and sensing my anxious moments and then giving me the appropriate reassurance I needed while keeping all his explanations real. He is a true professional with a heart!

I feel I am in safe hands under Dr. Sykes' care. I have been going to him for 9+ years now and I look forward to his continued service. His staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful. I am very glad I was introduced to his practice.

Dr Sykes was my obstetrician for 3 of my pregnancies. I felt very assured by his experience and expertise. He managed any issues with confidence and a reassuring manner. I really appreciated him being on time for appointments. His administration team are likewise welcoming and efficient- making the whole process easy and enjoyable. Highly recommend Dr Sykes and his team!

Dr Sykes delivered my first baby and I felt very supported along the journey. He is very experienced and knowledgeable and has a very calm presence which was what I needed as a first time mum (especially dealing with medical complications and hiccups along my pregnancy journey). I would not hesitate to have Dr Sykes as my obstetrician again if I am lucky enough to get pregnant with baby number two!

Dr Gary Sykes is an experienced, friendly, reliable and honest obstetrician. Definitely in good hands and my journey over the last few years has been great! I would definitely choose Dr Sykes again in future! The ladies at reception are also caring and go above and beyond!

Dr Sykes is so knowledgeable and experienced and makes you feel very calm throughout the whole pregnancy journey. The ladies at the front desk are always beyond helpful and so lovely. I’ve been with Dr Sykes for both pregnancies - one c-section and vaginal - and both were handled with calm and care. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone!

If I could turn back time, I would choose to give birth with my two older kids in Sydney Adventist Hospital under Dr. Gary Sykes.

Dr Sykes delivered both our babies and our experience both times was very positive. I had complete faith in Dr Sykes every step of the way and knew to trust his advice & decisions. He is certainly the man for the job and I would highly recommend him if you’re looking for a very calm and a highly skilled obstetrician to ensure both you and your baby are safe and well during your pregnancy and delivery. Our midwives at both Norwest & the SAN agreed with us on how calm Dr Sykes was during delivery and that’s exactly what you need in an OB.

Our experience with the entire team at Obstetric Excellence was also extremely positive, from my first enquiry for my first baby to when I called to book my follow up appointments, both Kylee & Jewels were just as excited as we were on our pregnancies and birth of our babies. It’s a great team, who have compassion & care for all patients who see Dr Sykes.

Dr Gary Sykes is a fantastic obstetrician who saw me throughout my pregnancy and delivered my baby girl. He is very understanding to what I wanted during the whole pregnancy, very approachable and very easy to contact. He has lots of years of experience and uses modern technology. Dr Sykes delivered my two beautiful babies. He made us feel so reassured and gave us the confidence to enjoy our pregnancy journey. The whole team have been so helpful and were only just a phone call away when ever we had a concern or needed to ask a question. We knew after our first baby that if we were to have a second we would choose Dr Sykes without a doubt. We will forever be grateful to Dr Sykes for bringing our babies into this world. I cannot recommend Dr Gary Sykes highly enough. He is wonderful, kind, funny and so experienced and amazing at what he does. He has delivered both my babies and there are not enough thanks in the world for making sure both of them were delivered safely and also that they and myself were given the best care throughout my pregnancies. I can’t thank Dr. Sykes enough for helping me with my pregnancy journey since early October. Unfortunately it has ended in a miscarriage but I truly felt Dr. Sykes did everything he could. I had weekly scans and blood test. Whenever he was concerned about my blood test results, he would give me an appointment immediately to check the baby out. Was also given his Facebook to ask any question or concerns I had (we’ve never met any doctor that does this!). One thing I’ll forever be grateful for is the way he explained our miscarriage, I instantly started blaming myself and I’m so glad he explained this was in no way my fault and somewhat a blessing. I think hearing those words from him was crucial to my mental health. Dr. Sykes will be the first person I call when I find out I’m pregnant again! Also special thanks to Julie and Kylee. Every interaction from phone call to email showed how much they care! They are so kind and hospitable. Hopefully I get to see you guys soon in a few months!
