After doing some research through our community, we came across Delta Financial Group and Mike Sikar who as a boutique business we thought would provide a more personal touch and we would have a more intimate relationship, which we liked. We always knew what we wanted in terms of our goals but just wanted to make sure that we had an adviser that understood our retirement plan.

I experienced many difficulties with Delta Financial. My partner and I were clients of Mike for about two years before Mike fired me for being too "nitpicking". From my perspective the problems were as follows:
1. I am not sure whether Mike actually reviewed or changed any of the investment packages he put our money into. I think that the money just goes into an investment account and there are no changes made because of market forces or current events. As you can see, I am still very unclear on this point.
2 All of the insurance recommended was MLC and all of the bank accounts recommended were Macquarie regardless of whether these were the best deal for us or not. For example, they were not the best interest rate available on a term deposit but Mike said he didn't have access to "lesser tier banks".
3. Mike often describes fees etc as a percentage point or part thereof. For example, "a quarter of a percent". What I really needed was a dollar value and because of this I became concerned that details were being obscured. It takes a lot of assertion to whip out a calculator at a meeting and I don't think people should have to do that.
4. I found Mike difficult to communicate with because I felt pressure to always have positive, rah rah style of conversations. What am I really saying? I think that some of my questions never got answered and he did not deal well with constructive feedback.
So I did not trust that Mike would get me the best deal on everything? Perhaps anything?

Delta Financial Group have been instrumental in taking our super and excess cash and put them to work as only they know how. Mike has always been upfront in guiding us along the way with great support from his team who are always there to follow up and answer any questions.

When I was first introduced to Mike and the Team at Delta it felt like an extended family. A team genuinely committed to helping me see exactly where I was and where the gaps were in my plan to where I wanted to be.
