Chippendale Restorations reviews
49 Excellent customer service- Steve blew us away with fireplace advice. We'd been here before for many other things: buying windows, lights, door hardware, tiles etc but this was our first time to research fireplaces. Steve was incredibly knowledge and had a very high level of integrity. He went above and beyond for us, sharing all his wisdom and giving us so much of his time to figure out the right solution for our fire set up.even entertaining our children!
Five star service+ great technical knowledge+ high level of integrity= that is what keeps us coming back!
So lucky to have this place!
We have used Stephen's services in two different houses (one in Annandale and one in Glebe) for 3 fireplaces all up. The work that he and team have undertaken is phenomenal - two fireplaces in the current house have been expertly restored to 1880's beauty and a Wonderfire put into one of them, which is a terrific addition to heating an old house. Excellent service and attention to detail - we have recommended Stephen to others and would do so in a heartbeat again. Just brilliant.
Worst service of all time! Speak to them and then you will hear arrogance infused with attitude. Incredibly unhelpful too. Stock is good but in my opinion just go look only you can find doors and locks at others shops with better service.
Great place for getting your Reno's done, antique and replica Federation building materials. Great staff too.
Quite an amazing range, but as many people have said for decades the customer service you get is exceptionally variable. I walked in knowing exactly what I needed and got something similar, which I'll modify to fit.
Lots of doors, fireplaces and tiles. They are one of the only stockists of the range of Porteous Tiles from New Zealand which are really beautiful, but don't have a catalogue- check them out online first and turn up with the exact tile codes you need.
The display of knobs and handles and locks is good, and they have parts from old locks if you need a replacement handle etc.
Fantastic second hand and vintage building supply store. The have a huge warehouse full of used doors, windows, fireplaces and lamps as well as hardware for light switches, handles etc.they also have patterned old glass which is absolutely beautiful! A renovators dream!
Absolutely DISGUSTING Customer service! Went to this place to shop for 3 fire places and 2 to 3 custom made french doors and arched windows.approached a staff for some advice was not helpful when Asked for staffs email and contact so I could send some more photos and details of what I wanted, then got a reply saying "Im not desperate for jobs. " then after that he had the nerve to say I cant help you please leave. Good luck to whoever Running this joint.if I was you I'd sack your poorly performing staff and rehire some useful people before you have no business at all. Once again you only exist because you bring value and solutions to your customers with customer service like that god help you.
My husband and I have visited twice, and were served by Michael, who had a wealth of knowledge about the items we were interested in, was able to direct us toward appropriate colour schemes, and able to answer every question we had. We're looking forward to returning soon.
Unfortunately the hype is short lived if you’re after customer service - Before travelling 3hrs (each way) for 2 doors priced at $660 each, I kindly asked to get a picture of them both to which I was told “too hard, won’t do that”.
Slightly overpriced is understandable for rare items and a business located in Sydney but at least Customer service should match it.
Very surprised as professionalism wasn’t an option today, and when I asked if anyone else could help I was put onto the business owner and heard “here’s a winger”…. Surprisingly the business owner wasn’t there too help either, and did not even apologise for what I had heard.
Awww well - Choose wisely before which business you decide to spend your money with.
We could not speak highly enough of our experience with Stephen and his team. We wandered in to Chippendale Restorations with some photos on our phone. Stephen gave us great design advice and followed up quickly with a site visit and quote. The installation process was quick and efficient and the subbies were all charming and reliable and cleaned up after themselves. The finished product looks lovely and we are really enjoying our fireplace.
We recently renovated a beautiful Federation home in Orange. Very long and cold winters in Orange. Stephen and Ken did a gas conversion and an amazing restoration on one of the original coal burning fireplaces. Bloody brilliant! See for yourself.
Fantastic - Stephen and his team installed our fireplace and recently came and gave it a service. Such quality work and attention to detail - above and beyond a normal service. Highly recommend.
Very friendly and responsive - had our wonderfire fireplace installed two years has been fantastic, got first service done, working beautifully!
We used Chippendale Restorations to install two fireplaces and various period features (lighting, doors, windows) when we renovated our 1915 cottage in 2012. Nearly 10 years later, everything is still in ship shape - Steve serviced my fireplaces last week which I should get many more years from before I have to replace any parts. They have the best fireplace selection and service we found, and loads of additional products which keeps us going back.
Great place.expensive though now they're competing with the internet. I paid more than double what I would have paid on line for drawer knobs.
Place is amazing for finding just what you're looking for.but the staff are all men who should be worried about COVID (older) : but the position of their face masks (under nose, under chin when in height of delta and lockdown and directive for masks indoors) reveals their thoughts on the virus so make sure you put this into your non essential basket! All customers were masked up properly.
I expected this place to be a garage selling a few items. It is a fully stocked, massive, two-storey warehouse. It was pretty busy when we went, but when it was my turn to ask the owner a question, he gave me full attention, let me ask all the questions I had. I was buying a damper for my fireplace and I asked if they had any in black. Without even missing a beat the guy was off returning a few mins later with the same damper that he had spray painted for me.
Stephen and his team of trades are very professional and great to deal with right through from start to finish, we highly recommend them.
We love our new gas fire place.
Stephen and his team did a fantastic job restoring one of our fireplaces and removing another. Incredible to find one company that can bring together multiple trades and restoration expertise for such a niche job. The gas unit which was installed heats the house without any issues and is a great feature, retaining the original heritage aesthetic while creating a practical source of warmth through winter. Highly recommend Chippendale restorations for their level of professionalism and expertise.
Fantastic range of new and reclaimed building supplies. Well organised and easy to locate items of interest. Unfortunately our experience with the staff was far from helpful or friendly.
