CeX reviews
28 I recently had a highly unsatisfactory experience with CeX Kotara, and I feel compelled to share my negative review to warn others about their subpar service. My encounter with this establishment was filled with multiple instances of incompetence and negligence that left me deeply frustrated.
Data Privacy Breach: It is astonishing to discover that CeX Kotara does not bother to clean the previous owner's data from the electronics they sell. This is a clear violation of customer privacy and a concerning disregard for data protection regulations.
Lack of Quality Control: The store's staff must be responsible for failing to check the electronics they sell. I purchased a device only to find out later that it had significant battery issues, which should have been identified during their inspection before labelling it as Grade B. This lack of quality control is simply unacceptable.
Inadequate Buyer Documentation: CeX Kotara also needs to record crucial details of their buyers when they purchase products. This lack of documentation raises concerns about accountability and makes it difficult for customers to seek assistance or return products if necessary.
Poor Transaction Record-Keeping: Astonishingly, an organisation like CeX Kotara needs to prioritise maintaining accurate records of transactions. This lack of proper record-keeping hampers customer satisfaction and makes it challenging to resolve any issues that may arise in the future.
Inept Investigation Procedures: I recently had an incident that required the store to investigate a particular transaction. However, their process for handling such cases could be better. Despite providing the necessary information, including the serial number and seller's name, they failed to locate the transaction and insisted on the original receipt. This lack of efficiency and coordination is frustrating and highlights the disorganisation within the organisation.
Disorganised Communication: They requested the re-sending of emails, indicating a need for more organisation and attention to detail. Their approach to handling customer inquiries gave me the impression that their internal processes could be more cohesive and professional.
In conclusion, my experience with CeX Kotara was nothing short of a disaster. Their failure to prioritise data privacy, lack of quality control, poor record-keeping, and disorganised communication reflect a complete disregard for customer satisfaction. I advise potential customers to steer clear of this establishment, as it is evident that they lack the necessary competence and professionalism to deliver a satisfactory experience.
Staff are always so friendly and can answer all your questions. All the second-hand gear is really good quality too!
Fantastic friendly customer service skills are really great at this store absolutely had a fantastic time shopping and they were very helpful
Poor communication. When going in, buy things or trade things. Doing both in one transaction is a nightmare and staff were intensely unfriendly and passive aggressive. Most games PS3/X360 and further back are scratched or in otherwise poor condition, but the condition isn't reflected in the prices.
Great store for second hand ipads, phones, headphones, pc parts, dvds, blu rays and gaming. There's some great deals to be found but some rarer items can be marked fairly high as they seem to often go off of ebay prices.
Lots of people have had bad experiences trading items in at cex for fair prices so be wary.
Brought a game from urs and gave me the wrong game but right case Went back and their said that their not have the game but have the case but no game thanks got my money back
I went in yesterday to simply pick up some games. A young guy came past and snatched 5 cases from me saying I’ll put those at the desk. (I’m not over exaggerating) didn’t stop long enough for me to even see his face.
At the counter the young man, couldn’t smile, or make eye contact. He couldn’t even tell me how much to pay, he just presented the card machine facing him and unable to see what I was paying. I couldn’t believe his attitude.
He walked away to what I gathered was picking up a receipt and didn’t even wish me a nice day.
My partner then bout a few nostalgic games, and he recieved a slitghtly more upbeat experience… he got a “thanks” at the end of his interaction.
Being a manager in a retail store, I get it. I’m also never the type of person to leave a review. But this interaction was awful and I’d be performance managing that young boy. He’s clearly not confident or comfortable.
He’s clearly enabled.
The CEX chain in the UK is far better with people bubbling to help and passionate to talk to you about all things tech…. Thoroughly disappointed and, I will not be returning.
The staff were really helpful and happy to be there. They gave us great advice about our old Sega games as we want to sell them. The store is really well presented also.
Always friendly and helpful staff and great prices on everything. I frequent this store and mainly buy games and DVDs. The prices are always better than anywhere else and the staff are always up for a friendly chat.
This place is a scam. When you wanna sell something there they put an unfair price and rigged price. Not recommended
O starts, manager needs training on CeX refund policies and to learn the difference between 5GHz wi-fi band and 5G Internet. I will never return to this shop.
Was greeted by a dashing young man by the name of Harry. This young legend helped me find an iphone that could run Nintendo games on it, not only that but he helped fix my broken ipad which had been previously broken by a member of staff. Keep up the great work team!
Good store but I don't understand why the shelves couldn't be raised up on something - you practically need to sit on the floor to see what's on the bottom row! Otherwise it's great to have a game store with older system games.
The poor performance and lack of respect shown by male employee is very disappointing. Today my brothers with disabilities were badly treated and direspected over dvd that were taken in. I'm so disappointed in this unprofessional behaviour shown. If I could give less then a 1 star I would I will never be back to kotara Cex again.
Absolutely horrible I bought a PS4 and the games would not work it was a Christmas present and we looked after it perfectly I would not recommend going to this store
Ordered a controller online, Delivered covered in filth and the stick drifts, Was spammed by email to write a review. So I gave them 1 Star. Then a week later I was emailed AGAIN for a review. But guess what I looked up the item I purchased and my review is hidden on their website. This was 2 months ago
Great shop to pick up old games for a bargain. This is a dedicated games shop with lots of stock
Poppy's has been renovated beautifully! Lunch was great but wine a little bit on the higher price side!
Well worth the trip!
For a retro collector this is a goldmine for filler games and accessories. Staff are over the top to help you find what you need and usually if it's not there one month it's there the next. Plenty of variety. Will be back
Usual fare for CEX. Though, for once the person I was dealing with was actually somewhat knowledgeable about hardware. Went in a bought a cheap CPU to play with.
