Australian National Maritime Museum reviews
49Worth paying a bit extra to get the big ticket. Lots to see and do and the volenteers are very engaging
Everything was good today until we had an unpleasant encouter with a female staff who worked in the Gallery area. She was looking at her phone, didn't greet us and very rudely asked us for tickets. She then pointed us to a sign on the table rather than talk to us when we asked about tickets. When we walked away, we saw other people having the same treatment like us and wondering how a prestigious museum like this can hire such a staff who does not seem to have basic customer service skills.
I never thought I'd see the inside of a sub! And the replica of the Endevour was just amazing. The whole museum is beautifully presented. Well worth seeing
Very spacious building and very good exhibits and tours. Good location on the harbour waters. The gift shop is very good nice, good souvenirs and atmosphere. Kind workers and good service.
This is an amazing museum with a chance to go inside a real life former Australian navy submarine. Staff are very knowledgeable and the ticket prices include all the ships
Great history there! Lots of different ships and buildings to explore and plenty to read about. Nearby to alot of shops and places and is just an all out great place.
Was an amazing experience. Loved going on the submarine and destroyer. They had a beautiful photo display that was spectacular on wild animals.
Was excited to see the james cameron’s deep sea challenge 3D but it turned out to be a terrible example of 3D technology nothing 3D about the movie except the glasses you wore to make the movie not blurry. 3D movies are supposed to come off the screen and create cool effect at least the dozens of other 3D movies i’ve seen have.for the cost is was bad but then to top it off the staff seemed angry and rude.i asked where are the restroom and was told to go away i was confused so i walked around and found the restrooms and then went back to finish walking the exhibits and i asked another person if there was a water fountain or a place to purchase water and was yelled at and told to leave.it was an odd experience and felt disrespected.however when leaving i was waiting for my wife and speaking to an elderly man working the door who was very nice and i told him what happened and he shrugged and said yeah there are some bad employees here and left it at that.over it was all odd and weird.
The maritime museum is a favourite of mine! I've been here three times over the past few years. The museum itself is okay, nothing to write home about, however the highlights for me are always the ships and submarine. The "Vampire" destroyer is particularly well presented with informative plaques and tours, and you are free to wander around a lot of areas. The volunteer guides are always lovely. My only tip would be to see if you can get a cheaper ticket on Groupon since the admission is pretty steep.
