Australian National Maritime Museum reviews
49It's worth to go with family. 2 Adults 2 kids package is 70$. We spent almost all day in the museum. Getting up on the ships was so wonderful and excited. We were happy here. Recommend
Great place to take your kids
The warships, submarine and captian cooks blare awesome.
Great place to take your kids.
Very nice location at the port.
I can only recommend.
Great backdrop.

It's a worthwhile trip. You can climb into a submarine and visit it yourself. There are also enthusiastic volunteers who can explain to you the history behind different ships or submarines.
The indoor exhibits could be a little more but the main show is the 3 ships. If you go pay the extra 5$ to explore all three there's no point in not doing it.
We only paid 25 Aud for the walkaround there's so much to see! Explored the entire museum plus 4 vessels. Enjoyed my submarine experience! We don't have a submarine in the Philippines so it's a one of a kind experience. My entire 4 hours MUSEAM experience is all worth it fun and very educational. Definitely a must visit!
Affordable, varied, educational. So many enthusiastic, invested, knowledgeable volunteers on hand to share information about all things nautical. Make sure you go up the lighthouse.
Stylish museum in Darling Harbour.
We explored the inside of a submarine and a destroyer.
You can experience how small the inside is, etc.
Everywhere we went, they were kind and explained the inside in detail.
You can learn a lot of history at the museum.
And it is great that you can take pictures with your camera or phone everywhere.
It’s not common to go on a war ship at a museum! Very well maintained and great exhibits. Great to bring kids along too. When we went, the animal photography exhibit was excellent!
Superb museum with incredible collection of historic and actual boats that can be visited
Special mention for the submarine and the reproduction of the Endeavour: excellent insights and explanations by museum staff
Make sure to open at least half a day to enjoy the visit correctly
Great place with lots of history. The submarine is awesome. Also I like their pun signage - MU SEA UM. I see what you did and I do a pun chuckle.
A great museum with high quality displays and real life models of historic ships and special features like the anchor of HMS Sirius. Submarines are part of the study and are a suitable place for excursion. Interior is tidy and neat however the exterior needs to be cleaned as there is clearly a stench. Otherwise, all good.
Brilliant! Better than expected, there are multiple levels with lots of information. The submarine is $8 extra to go on board but worthwhile as it is a guided tour. The ‘Map It’ area for kids is really fun and they enjoyed that part.
Really interesting walk through maritime history. Knowledge helpful staff that have lovely anecdotes so feel free to have a chat to them.
An interactive and entertaining day out for young and old. Amazing vessels to climb over, and the museum contains lots of exhibits covering different historical eras. All right in the middle of Sydney.
I served aboard the Attack Class Patrol Boat, HMAS Advance.
Having suffered from PTSD in relation to an incident after transferring to the Royal Navy, it was good therepy to go there to provide photos that this Museum didn't have, from the late 70's.
Advance was normally closed but the lovely curator, who has lovingly looked after "my ship", took us for a tour and I was able to take a photo in the exact same position as my one in 1980! Plus my flags were taken out!
The boats were fun and the staff were all lovely. Have bought the family membership and was allowed to use my creative kids voucher to do so. Will be back.
So many interesting things to see. We went in expecting to just be a couple of hours but ended up spending the whole day here. The submarine tour which is an additional $8 per person is definitely worth it! National Geographic photo of the year exhibit was another highlight.
The best part here was seeing the Submarine and ships docked in the harbour! However be prepared to wait for ages to get tickets and line up to board: (
Great place to go with the family, it may get a bit boring for young kids as our youngest was too short to go onto the vessels. The play area looked great but all the smaller items were not there (maybe due to Covid). All staff were very friendly and a big thanks to the volunteers that explain a lot about the vessels and history. A few ships were under repairs which limited seeing the fun parts.
