Horrible experience. Left waiting in car for hours not knowing if my dog was ok. Receptionist flustered and rude and kept forgetting information.

Arrived at 3.00am with my very sick little girl. The staff were very compassionate and reassuring. Pipi was assisted to go over the bridge in my arms. It was very peaceful. They gave me as much time as I wanted to be with her both before and after. Her paw and nose were inked. They made a very traumatic experience for me easier. Thank you. Rest easy Pipi. Love you

Avoid this place if you can. My dog suffered at their hands. The following day my usual vet treated my dog and did so providing a huge discount having seen the documentary evidence of how poorly my dog was treated by this so-called emergency vet.

We recently had to take our dog here and could not fault the care we/she received. From the reception staff to the nurses and doctors, everyone we dealt with was pleasant and efficient. We were advised with an estimate of cost before we commenced treatment, so there were no surprises when the bill came. Our little dog had a serious condition that was not easy to diagnose and we were attended to quickly. I have no doubt that the expertise of Dr Hannah Diebold and the prompt treatment that ensued, saved our dog's life and for that we will be eternally grateful.

Last night I found my cat Biggie with severe trauma, my partner and I were very concerned so we took him to the very kind ladies at the ER they made us feel comfortable and at ease and gave Biggie a gentle check and got him out of pain.

I understand they are emergency vets but the prices they charge to people in vulnerable situations is appalling.

After my experience here, I feel this practice is taking advantage of people in desperate situations and are strongly focused on profit, more so than the care of the animals. The fees are exorbitant to begin with, and in my case, not worth the treatment I received. They charged just shy of $300 just for me to see the vet! Even if it is after hours or a public holiday that is ridiculous!

My friends dog who was in my care was bitten by another dog on his leg and behind, and was bleeding from the puncture wounds. As the blood flow was only dripping, I was told I had options as he would be bleeding badly if it was more serious and that it didn’t look like it needed to be surgically explored. We discussed stitches but again I was told I would have options. Well, I was about to find out that my options were all or nothing. I was presented with a quote for approx. $2500 worth of treatment. In order to have the stitches done I would have to admit him for 24 hours and have all these tests and scans done, which were not discussed and I felt contradicted what the vet had initially told me. I told her no to that option, so I was told my other option was to take him home with antibiotics and pain medication, and let the blood clots form naturally and just wait for the bleeding to stop and if it doesn’t, I’ll have to bring him back. So I was literally sent away with a bleeding dog. Not even an attempt to dress his wounds, just told “a bandage will fall down in that area”. I had to improvise and dress the wounds myself back at home with my first aid kit to stop him from bleeding all over the area where I was resting him.

Next, I’m reading my over my discharge instructions, to make sure I do everything right at home and I see they have been written for a dog that has been given stitches! I was so angry! Then to make things even worse, two days later I noticed that we had been dispensed the wrong pain medication. The medication listed on the discharge sheet and the label was different to what was in the the plastic zip bag they gave me and I didn’t pick up on it straight away. I called them and they confirmed that yes, that was the wrong medication. So this poor dog not only had no proper pain relief for two days, he was also put at risk as the wrong medication could have potentially caused more harm to him. Taking a wrong medication can even be fatal! This is a careless mistake that shouldn’t be being made. The whole experience left me feeling like as soon as you turned down that expensive treatment, they couldn’t get you out the door quick enough.

I had to end up taking my own dog to a local vet to also be seen about dog bites, luckily not as deep but that cost me $89.00 with take home treatment, no quoting of sneaky extras and clear advice. My trip to this practice cost me $407 for the flushing of one wound, and take home medication but I still had a bleeding dog who was in pain. I paid the most ridiculous amount of money for the worst experience I’ve ever had at a vet practice.

Whoever owns this place should feel ashamed of themselves for what they are charging people. I don’t care if you’re the only 24 vet in the area. If you genuinely care about animals, you make your services accessible to people, not that expensive or quotes that include unnecessary procedures that some cannot afford so you just send them away with nothing instead. THAT IS NOT OPTIONS. THAT IS MONEY MAKING. NOT ANIMAL CARE. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!

Took my 9-month old kitten in on a public holiday and was very impressed with the friendliness, care and concern from the staff (Jenny deserves a special mention). They were SO busy, reflected in the waiting time, but it was worth every moment waiting as the experience and knowledge of the team gave great piece of mind. Well done.

Took my dog here Easter Sunday, after six and a half hours of waiting we still had not got to see a Vet.
Even if other animals that came in after us where classed as higher priority, there should still be a limit on how long an animal should be kept waiting.
My dog was extremely stressed and in discomfort.
After waiting all this time they could still not give me any idea on when my dog would be attended to so we left. I felt my dog would be more c comfortable at home, not to mention her owners, both who are in their mid seventies. Following our experience I could not rate them higher than a one.

Expect to wait at least an hour. Our 13 week old puppy had diarrhea and we weren’t even allowed to await outside. We were told we had to wait in our car and our poor puppy had a diarrhea episode in the car, ruining her mat in her carrier.

We presented our dog with suspected rat bait poisoning and can only praise the prompt attention and care provided by all, from the reception staff, Tyler the vet nurse and Hannah the vet. We have had to use the AREC service a number of times and have aways ben grateful for having the availability of an after hours facility in the Newcastle area. Very professional and caring in my view.

Our very old poodle had a fit in the early hours of a recent Monday morning. We rang the vet and were told to bring him in immediately. Staff were waiting for us and took our dog away to sedate and assess him while we completed some forms. We were subsequently told that the best solution was euthanasia, which we expected. We found the staff very compassionate. Yes, the fees were a little high, but it was 1.00am and they were open to treat and comfort our pet. It cost about the same to have a mobile vet come to our house to euthanise our other poodle a couple of years ago.

I stayed one night at camping site in Lake Macquarie where found a duck with broken leg. Reception gave me a phone number to Wildlife Emergencies who recommended me this place because they were opened on sunday and were on my way (50 min drive from Lake Macquarie). I called them 2 hours before I came to be sure duck will get the good care. They were very nice on the phone they reassured me they will not put her down and they will be fixing her leg. Before I left camping retired vet who was staying there had a look and told me its easy fix and not to be worry. When I came to Broadmeadows lady told me to fill out "name and phone no". I didnt feel welcome at all but I understood maybe she is having a bad day. I was suprised they dont want place where I found a duck but I thought Wildlife Emergencies had to tell her already. After few hours I called them to ask how is she feeling and they told me they put her down because she was in pain. If I knew they would not care or at least they mention they are not going to be fixing her leg or they will be putting her down I would never go there. I could not speak I just cried for many hours, i am still crying writing this that I sent this poor little duck to death.how people can look at themselves at the mirror.

Without them our dog would have died from GDV. Nicole (the vet) explained what was wrong with Zeva, what needed to be done, what could go wrong and then performed the emergency surgery. The whole team there were most professional and looked after Zeva as if she was their own dog. Cannot thank them enough.

I can not thank the staff enough. They we're all so kind and thoughtful. Especially under the enormous pressure im sure they are faced daily.
I watched the nurses work the waiting room, keeping the patients and their owners calm.in an extremely hectic environment.
I was never spoken to rudely or abruptly. When I didn't understand or was stressed.
I received phone calls to give me updates. And also a wonderful text message with a photo of my dog and lovely message.
Thank you for taking care of my best friend.
Kuddi says thank you!
