Excellent food, service and views. The entree was good The fish of the day and the chicken were both quality meals, desserts were delicious and service was excellent. This was a fine dining experience and very reasonable price for the quality. 3 courses are filling. We will eat here again when we are in town.

We had the $77 3 course lunch. Food is pretty food, worth the price. We did not get to sit near the window to see rh6e water.

Service efficient and friendly
Food needs lots of improvement in taste and seasoning, desserts need a better variety and the pudding is tasteless can't taste any orange at all.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch. Had the 3 course meal and the food and service was faultless. Combined with the view over the lake and city it was a very memorable experience. Will highly recommend and will definitely go back again.

Tried this restaurant having heard mixed reviews. The food was nice, however poor service and very rushed courses (5 course degustation with paired wines). We both ordered sparkling as a pre dinner drink and only arrived at table just prior to 1st course. Staff not knowledgeable on menu or chef. To top it all off when we went to pay the bill - found they charge 20% public holiday surcharge = twice the standard rate and this was definitely not justified considering service!

The location of this restaurant is beautiful being that close to the lake, but it has a road going right directly in front of the lake. The interior of the building was very outdated with dirty curtains. The servers seemed very confused and didn’t remember the orders for our table. The food was very simple and quite overpriced for what you get. A good restaurant to try once.

Exceptional, a two hat experience. Presentation was an exquisite appetiser to a taste sensation. Fish, meats, vegetables, superb sauces and deserts. Service was fantastic too and then we had a beautiful view on a prime Autumn day. Hard to top this. Highly recommended.

Canberra, Parkes
Nice location by the lake. Been here previously when they serve edgy modern Aust. Had pork and salmon entree. Mains are lamb and gnocchi. Dessert of goat cheesecake and orange pudding. Maybe a better clarity in flavour might work wonders
Have to say it was a nice sunset

Very drab and in much need for a makeover. The place has such potential, and the food was quite good but service and overall atmosphere was lacking.

Lack of details and food was okay.
I’ll explain.

-Fine dining, 5 forks and 5 knifes but no table cloth?
-Went for dinner at 7: 30pm, so outside is dark and inside is bright light, the lights are so bad in this restaurant. There is no atmosphere or different mood lights that create a comfortable cozy place.
-Got the menu, looks good food and we opted for the wine pairing.
-Saw on the menu Salmon, Chicken, Kangaroo and Lamb, perfect! I inform the waiter that I am pescatarian so I can only eat the first course Salmon. I’ve asked for what food will the meat be substitute for… no answer. Normally in other restaurants the waiter will go and ask the chef and come back with options to check that I would be okay with the options.
-Wine pairing… what a disaster.on every dish that arrived the waiter bring 2 glass with the wine already pour into the glasses, saying this is the XXX (wine name).
Wine was not pour from a bottle, no explanation in the wine that we were drinking and why this was a good option to accompany the dish… have you ever been to a wine pairing where they say this is a Chardonnay. Or this is a Shiraz, no further explanation. I can read myself on the menu that this a Shiraz, the waiter should be knowledgeable to explain the wine. This is what Wine Pairing in a Fine dining should be.
-Food was okay, first dish salmon was okay, second dish as pescatarian I got a burrata with rocket (although I told them I am allergic to rocket), third dish I got a mushroom risotto and that was very good, and last dish I got a fish which was not good at all. Had a bite and left it there.
For my partner food (the menu food), Chicken was good, Kangaroo was too hard, Lamb was good.
-I have to say the portions of each food are really big and you won’t go hungry.

Overall there fine dining experience was completely missed for me. Staff should be trained to a fine dining, there are a lot of other restaurants in Canberra where for the same price (dinner+wine pairing) the overall experience is at another level.

Overall, around a ~6/10 given expectations and the price point.

Location is undeniably excellent, right on the water with a view over the lake towards the war memorial.
Try and get a table next to the glass if possible.

Service was polite, friendly and attentive throughout the meal.

However, a level below what I would consider fine dining (no real description of what's in the food, wine recommendations etc.)

We had the 3 course set menu, which included two complementary mini courses which were a nice surprise (tomato gazpacho + a deconstructed apple crumble with apple sorbet) with the gazpacho the pick of the two.

Overall, I'd say it's more of an elevated bistro standard rather than fine dining at an excellent location.

Just make sure you specify how you want the lamb cooked or get a different main.

Specifics below

Entrees

Quail - solid tasting dish but extremely small as an entree for a 3 course menu (essentially two mouthfuls of the quail).

Barrata - not too much to add here. We enjoyed it, was a fairly standard barrata entree and a decent sized portion.

Main

Lamb Backstrap - the sauce, vegetables, puree were all nice, but unfortunately the lamb was extremely overcooked. It was what I would call well done, which is fairly unforgivable for this type of cut and really lowered my overall rating of the food.

Now I hadn't specifically asked for medium rare when I ordered, but my expectation would be that rare to medium rare is the standard for lamb at any decent restaurant unless someone asks for something different.

Fish of the day - Monkfish was nice, cooked well, good combination of flavours.

Dessert

Panna Cotta - nice passion fruit Panna Cotta, dish was a good combination of flavours/textures.

Semi freddo - fairly ordinary, flavour combinations didn't quite work and the texture was a bit mealy.

Thoroughly enjoyable, I'll be back. Enjoyed a 3 course lunch that left us waddling out the door sated. Staff friendly, attentive and intuitive service well done team. The chef able to cook a roo loin so that it was moist, tender and tasty. Never thought that I would compliment roo in that way! Quality of rest of dishes stunningly good as well.

Great experience - celebrated my husband's birthday here with a 3 course meal. The views were great, the food delicious and the service perfect. We'd happily come back!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed a 5 course degustation at Waters Edge Restaurant tonight.
From the moment we arrived the staff were attentive and provided excellent table service.
Each beautifully presented and delicious course was brought to our table by Avi, the head chef, who explained each course clearly to us. It is always appreciated when a chef takes the time to meet with the diners. It makes the evening even more special and memorable.
We would highly recommend an evening out at Waters Edge Restaurant if you are looking for somewhere special to go.

Came here to celebrate my partners birthday. Had previously been to Courgette. Heard the this was a sister restraunt. The restraunt itself was spaced out and decorated nicely. The view of the lake is also pleasant to look at whilst having dinner. Although it is on the pricier side of things, I would say the food is worth it. My personal favourite was Waygu and the Banana Parfiet.

Unfortunately, the service was not worth it. The main factor that discourages me from returning was the waiter. There obviously had been minimal training at best. They didn't know what was in the majority of the dishes. They also had no clue regarding nice pairings. Throughout our meal they constantly had to go ask another waiter our questions. This really took away from what should have been a nice experience.
