Penny University Cafe reviews
73Love PU …. BUT today’s waiter cleared my plate and then stood at our table waiting for my husband to hurry down his last mouthfuls so he could take that plate also! Not a good look PU.
If I could give 6 stars I would. The service was outstanding from the moment we entered for breakfast. Super friendly and all of our requests were met with a positive response and a smile. Food and coffee, excellent. Our 18mth old grandson loved the Baby Chino's
The young man that waited on us was brilliant.
So sick of going to this place and waiting 15 minutes for a takeaway coffee whilst watching the staff stand around the coffee machine chatting and not paying attention. I keep going back because the coffee is actually so good but today was the last time, not worth the frustrating wait or the high price anymore.
Only cafe we go to when visiting from Blue Mountains. Beautiful food, lovely staff. The scrambled eggs divine, kale so fresh, mushrooms gorgeous, choc banana bread to die for, best juice and coffee ever.
Amazing food and costume service. The waiters were all very attentive and friendly. Loved it!
Absolutely delicious food and beverages. Great menu. Can be packed with a long wait (because it’s so good). A bit pricier than most. But worth it.
Yum yum and then some!
What a delightful cafe. Great atmosphere, attentive staff, good variety of menu options, GF, vegan and veg options available. Wonderful coffee. Will definitely be returning next trip to Canberra! As you can see by last pic - no issues cleaning up the plate!
My partner and I visited here. We were seated by waitress at 10: 32am.
She took our coffee orders and they were great coffees.
Wait staff were just very inattentive. We were waiting for a while for our food order to be taken even with trying to get wait staff attention. We did all but approach the counter honestly. The coffees took 15-20mins to come and it was at that point we could order our food which was two breakfast options. These two plates took 53mins to arrive. We had finished our coffees 10mins into waiting but no one came and took a second coffee order during the long wait.
Food tasted good. But not worth the wait times.
Great place for breakfast or lunch. It's always packed so you may have too wait a bit for your food. Excellent service and delicious meals. Coffee is great too.
I've been going to Penny's for the past 3 years and I love this place. Best coffee in Kingston (perhaps even Canberra), the staff is super friendly, and the food is so good!
It's also doggo central on the weekend if you need another excuse to visit!
We had been about 5 years before and thought of trying somewhere different but we're so glad we came back. The food, service and atmosphere is 10/10! Even dining with a baby wasn't a hassle. They made us feel very welcome. The chilli hot chocolate was delicious. Both our breakfast's were so tasty. I would definitely recommend this cafe:)
What a place! The fantastic rustic-industrial atmosphere with fun paintings on the wall, quirky lights and a lot of attention to detail in the interior design.
Fantastic food with so many twists - the combination of the ingredients that would not come to mind had they not put it together!
Among coffee roasted by Penny's - smooth, rich and deep.
Conveniently located in Kingston, it is a short walk to the promenade along the lake.
Japanese savoury pancake, apple crumble crossiant, special shake and matcha soy wet great. Faultless
Always great food and coffee, but one of the more pricey cafes - extra surcharge for weekends and public holidays.
Beautiful, rustic and ambient cafe! The staff were delightful and the menu had a fantastic variety. Vegan and vegetarian friendly along with many others (for those who may be coeliac or lactose intolerant).
The meals were delicious and very beautifully presented. Incredibly generous portions! Highly recommend!
Only ever had take away but over all disappointing. Over priced and the service is usually characterised by indifference - though occasionally you get someone who is great. Coffee is average - long blacks generally bitter.
What a fabulous little find! The food is terrific, with a slight twist on the norm, the iced coffee was great once again with a slight twist and the staff were wonderful, really helpful, pleasant and happy to help with suggestions.
I wish that I had a similar cafe close to where I live.
Try it, I don't think that you'll be disappointed!
The coffee was amazing! First time I tried macadamia milk and it didn’t disappoint. Also had the katsu burger and it was delicious! Presentation was really great too. Had an amazing experience here and will definitely come back
Nice coffee but they picked a really dark roast bean which was not to my taste. Lovely cakes though
When I first moved to Canberra, this was one of the first places my friend took me to and I loved it! The staff were all friendly, the food was good (admittedly it was more expensive than I was expecting) but I've been back several times since. Xx
