La Capanna

Loved this little find. Fabulous Italian food with quality Italian wines. Very attentive staff. Great for couples or groups.

Carbonara regina is to die for, pizza is really good, garlic bread is always so fresh and buttery - my favourite Italian and it is very reasonably priced to top it off!

Very authentic flavours. Nice prices. Was very unexpected after a trip across the Snowy Mountains.

Definitely a place that I'll be heading back to on a regular basis. Best described as a cosy Italian restaurant that serves up traditional family Italian food. Certainly the pasta and pizza are great, but there are still more dishes to try out. Great service too.

Whilst the food was good, it was not spectacular, and despite me explaining that I was not the member of the group responsible for the booking and numbers, I received a bit too much of a dressing down from the bar staff member who I settled up with, regarding the short notice cancellation of two of the group. I fully appreciate that numbers and profitability at this point are crucial to the survival of a restaurant this year, but I wasn't the one to speak with nor in that tone. Additionally, charging corkage when none was applicable was a little on the nose, and I shouldn't have had to have sought for this to be addressed. Not sure I would revisit in a hurry.

Came for dinner with friends on Saturday night. We were sat by the window and the summer breeze was delightful. The food arrived quickly despite the restaurant being quite busy. I ordered the mari e monte pasta which was packed full of flavour. The staff were friendly and attentive. Wine was beautiful. We will definitely be back!

They do the best spaghetti puttanesca I have ever had the pleasure of eating, and the atmosphere is just so lovely. One of my favourite restaurants!

Didn’t enjoy our pizza at all. Tasted super bland with cheap ingredients, bad cheese, a burnt base and very small. One of the worst pizzas I’ve had and probably the most expensive as well.

A Touch of Spice
We have been to La Capanna many times. The dishes are always excellent and generous, the ingredients fresh. It can get a very busy place of an evening, especially when parliament is sitting. But the staff are always helpful and engaged, the atmosphere is friendly, cosy, the prices very reasonable. Some good Italian wines!

Very poorly staffed. Went on a Thursday night, not overly busy but not quiet either. Waited 20 minutes to be given a menu (had to ask for one). Waited an hour and a half for some pretty average food. The staff didn't appear to have enough training / didn't know what they were doing, and the kitchen seemed to be understaffed given how long the food took. Won't be coming back here.

Amazing food, reasonable prices and free BYO. Our ideal date location, we ordered the shared dips, a ravioli and a gnocchi and were completely satisfied and return regularly

The water glasses were absolutely putrid. The cutlery was bent and twisted. I ordered the prawns in garlic and chili sauce. What was thrown in front of me was slop that looked like a massacre. Prawn heads every where. No where on the menu did it warn one they would get full prawns thst were not cleaned. I refused it. My friends had pasta which went cold waiting for parmesan cheese, and it wasn't enough to feed a 5 year old. Served with dry old toast. Frightful meals. Service was virtually non existent. We began drinking wine from the bottle after asking numerous times for glasses and being charged a hefty corkage. Dreadful, dull, and very bloody dirty. Don't start me on the toilets.

Great place that still here. Absolutely delicious food, pizzas were so tasty and the Seafood Spaghetti Yummo!

Service was a real let down. Cook kept staring at me as I tried to eat my food from the back of the room. Bit awkward to say the least.

Efficient informed friendly service, very tasty food, tortellini and fettuccini, yum, dessert was affogarto, gelati, lemon lime tart, coffee a satisfying finish.

Good. I had indian food - rice and daal. Rest of them did not suit my taste. Worth the try once if you are around. Service was good but they did take time to cook. Nice set of healthy drink options. Slightly expensive but worth it. Overall good.

Great food! Great wine! Super friendly staff. Would recommend changing out the art under the glass of all of the tables, they look a bit mouldy.

Great pizza with a fluffy crust and pasta is also well cooked. Good place to go with family however the orders got a bit muddled up last time and a lot of food was unavailable for unknown reasons.
