Gather Cafe reviews
65I don’t recommend you go in a cold weather because the indoor area is too small, so there is a high chance that you be sitting outside. Very friendly staff. I went in specific for the omelette but I found out that they’re changing their menu every few months. I ordered scrambled eggs. It was good but regarding the cold weather it lost its taste!
Absolutely fabulous Mothers Day breakfast.
Great friendly and efficient service and the food was sooo delicious. Definitely our go to when next in Canberra
Came here for breakfast today and it was great! Food, coffee and service were all fantastic - shout out to Mustafa for looking after us. Will be back
This cafe was recommended to me by my cousin who lives in Canberra so I quickly made a booking for breakfast on my last morning. I was greeted by friendly staff and attended to promptly and with courtesy. And of course the food (I had their scrambled eggs with bacon) was delicious. I would recommend to anyone to check it out - I would advise to book in advance to avoid disappointment!
Simply the best breaky I’ve ever had!
The chef customised my dish just the way I liked it!
Highly recommend:)
Excellent breakfast options. I had the rosti stack with a broccolini side - delicious! Highly recommended.
Amazing!
We dined here Monday morning and it was fantastic. Staff were lovely and the food divine. It really topped off our weekend away!
A great cafe for brunch! Every dish was so well thought out and the servings are good. The coffee was good too.
Great vegan selection on the breakfast/brunch menu. Make sure you get a side of mushrooms-delicious. Staff very friendly and helpful. A nice casual place to have a catch up with friends.
Very surprisingly good, Mustafa was very endearing would gladly recommend this eatery. Thanks guys.
The food looked really good and was well presented. Just took a little longer than expected to get it.
Great vibe, good food and great service. Perfect place for a casual catchup or to get some work done
Pretty good place to go for a nice cafe food around Braddon away from the hustle and bustle of Lonsdale st
Food varies from absolutely delicious to just average. For instance the mushrooms Benedict I had today (see photo) we’re nice but we’re sitting on stale bread slices.
Other days this same dish was mouthwatering
Truth be said though I never had a bad meal here and the staff is always attentive and happy on weekdays. Weekends are another story, and as other reviewers attest to, it can be under par
One of the nicer and more comfortable cafes in Braddon - in amongst the gritty streets and shops, Gather is a quiet retreat for great coffee, simple but creative food and good service.
The coffee really is some of the best in the area and while the barrister can be a bit abrupt, she does a great job. Food was quick and tasty and my bacon and egg wrap was excellent.
On warmer days there is plenty of outdoor seating - and enough inside for those bitter Canberra mornings.
Lovely cafe with a natural ambience. Friendly staff and fast service. I had avo on the toast with the best smoked salmon ever
Food and coffee were good but not excellent. The staff were very friendly but the food took a while to come out.
Staff are always lovely! Vegan, vegetarian and other dietary requirements friendly, and the green juice is always worth getting.

TL;DR: OK for food if not busy, otherwise avoid.
Pretty poor experience. They were very busy and didn't seem to be tracking the tables well. We identified an open table to the wait staff that just needed cleaning. They made us stand in the doorway in the rain for 10 mins before we cleaned it ourselves. The same waiter walked past it several times.
After that, we waited another 10 to be brought menus and served. Another moment when I just got up and grabbed myself menus. We figured out what we wanted quickly and wait for staff to take our order, but yet again after 10 mins I ended up calling out for the same woman that just seemed to aimlessly run about the place achieving very little. She was totally oblivious so I put my arm in her path as I continued to call for her attention.
She took our order and said she would bring cutlery and water out. 20 mins later, no cutlery, no water, no coffee and still she had been past us a number of times, often attempting to take the order of people she had spoken to minutes prior. And she wasn't the only one that just looked completely lost at all times, it was a shemozzle.
When the food and coffee came out, we were famished. The food was decent but honestly not worth waiting for. The coffee looked the part but was weak and lacklustre.
I also noticed that when we went to pay, the area the barista worked in was very untidy and cluttered. The grinder was mostly covered in loose grind, which really illustrated the chaotic and ineffective way of working employed by the staff minus the kitchen.
It is my sincere hope that this is not the experience of others, but unfortunately it has left us not wanting to return.
The staff were friendly and accommodating. Food was nice but took a while to come out and wasn't overly hot- I think it had been sitting waiting at the kitchen for a while. But overall it was a good experience.
