Friendly staff though when we went was super understaffed. Few vegan options if at all. Good coffee and food.

Cute atmosphere, the hot chocolate was sooo good! Went back for seconds! It wasn't too busy around 10am, nice and quiet. Really friendly staff!

4.5 stars. Quiet and chic cafe in central Canberra. Was little empty as we went during NYE so service was fast. Usually brunch fair is served but lunch options are interesting.

Boccocini salad
Flavour: S, 8/10. Vinegar dressing did some heavy lifting and wasn't too acidic which was good.
Texture: A+, 7.5/10. Rice cracker was an interesting addition. Not bad but not the biggest fan. Soft, chewiness of boccocini worked well
Tandoori chicken: SS, 8/10. Tasty and well spiced though a little tough. Worth adding for $7.
Value: A, 7/10. $22 for the base salad is not great but not bad.
Overall: A+, 7.5/10. Needs something additional to lift the dish up

Almond croissant: S+, 8.5/10. Really nice with no addition distracting flavours. Straightforward almond filling with a great flaky, puffy and soft croissant.

Eggs benedict with mushroom: S, 8/10. Mushrooms were definitely the best part but the remainder were quite nice too. $18 is a little expensive though.

Me and my boyfriend went to the cafe over the weekend. Cafe was decorated nice and decently priced. We ordered coffee, the Cafe Glacé and Halloumi burger to share. Halloumi burger was really nice and fresh. On the other hand the cafe glacé was a bit of a rip off. Was expecting more than one waffle for the price or at least a large waffle. The waffle and all the sides tasted nice but simply wasn’t enough food. More popcorn than waffle and more focus on presentation than quantity of food. Wasn’t worth the price.

Came in here on a random weekday and was served seahorse latte art. It made my whole month! The coffee is one of the best in Canberra

Another well-run and comfy cafe, this time in a central location. Good simple but careful brunch menu

Very good food and atmosphere. Nice staff.
I had the aubergine katsu, which was nice and crunchy, with a tasty sauce with walnuts.
They feature specialty coffees, from a four page menu which reads like a wine tasting review. I wasn't having coffee so I can't report on it but the menu was very entertaining to read.

As always a great coffee and fresh morning side, whether it’s a pastry or muffin they are always amazing!

I chose East Row based on the reviews and arrived for breakfast at 8.30am on Saturday 11/2/23. The Cafe was at 30% capacity. I was greeted by a cheerful friendly staff member who made me feel very welcome and directed my to a seat at the window. The decor is hip and modern but still manages to pay homage to the period styling of the heritage building with its many beautiful arches. I ordered a flat white in a mug which arrived promptly. The coffee was weak and insipid with a slightly bitter after-taste lingering on the back of the pallet which was very dissapointing. I ordered poached eggs on sourdough toast with a side of grilled tomatoes. The presentation was nice however they placed the grilled tomatoes on the toast so the juices soaked into the toast making it soggy and inedible. The eggs and grilled tomatoes were cooked to perfection but the toast was warmed up bread not toast and as you can see from the images was so cold the soft butter couldn't even melt when spread on it. The joy of poached eggs on toast is the contrast between soft runny eggs and the crunch of the toast so getting luke warm bread instead was another dissapointment. Given so many people have rated the coffee so highly I thought mabe the mug was a bad choice so to be fair I ordered a regular flat white with an extra shot. The coffee arrived and I took a sip and it was a slightly stronger version of the first one. The coffee lacked depth and richness and that bitter after-taste was more pronounced which was just more dissapointing. If you are from Sydney, which is where I live, you will probably enjoy the coffee here but if you are from Melbourne I wouldn't recommend this venue. It is a little humid today and coffee beans are anhydrous so they have probably not adjusted the coffee grinder to compensate however I suspect the issue is with the coffee beans they are using. The coffee alone is 2 out of 5 but overall they deserve 3 out of 5. Just a few tweaks needed to go from good to great. I have zero connection to any coffee brands however if they were to get their hands on one of Melbourne's high end coffee brands such as Genovese, puely as an example, it would be a game changer for this venue. I genuinely hope this revue was helpfull

Charming spot and is a surprisingly good place. Some vegan menu options but only one in the mains. It was pretty yum though!

Great food, coffee and service:) The potato fritter dish is now one of my favourite breakfast dishes ever! We aren’t from Canberra but would definitely be back here next time we visit!

Lovely, lovely staff. So welcoming. Can't comment on the food, only had a cup 'o Joe, which was good+. Seems to be the unofficial 2nd HQ of the local Libs, soon to be in power.

Generous servings and coffee, service was slightly slow (looked understaffed) however waiter was very friendly and professional which made up for it.

Went here for breakfast and the food was awesome. Great presentation and quality although a little pricey and the 10% surcharge on weekends. 10/10 would reccomend and the melon delight was simply heaven.

My meal of the potato fritters / corn salsa and chorizo was pretty awesome, would recommend highly.

Partners meal was ok, nothing to speak to highly of. Kids breakfast was good, even if kid wasn't so interested.

Coffee was very good, had a second. Lots of super fancy coffee if your willing to pay a small fortune for.

Hot chocolate was very Milky and lacking in actual chocolate.

Would go back, and ask for more hot chocolate and maybe try a different second dish next time.

Otherwise worth a visit if in the area. Would have got five stars if they got hot choc perfect, and had some air flow (very stuffy).
