Wise Vineyard Restaurant reviews
66We expected more and given the price, the food didn't live up to our expectations. All dishes were a bit too greasy for me (e.g. I couldn't finish the bread or pasta). Nothing was 'bad' but it also wasn't super good/unique/special and spending more than $100 per person for lunch makes me hope for that.
We have been a regular customer to this winery.which has spectacular views and great service and amazing food, but yesterday at lunch, what we got when we ordered was undersized portions at oversized prices. Will unlikely go back again
Historically Wise has been our go to restaurant for a special meal but we were really disappointed by our experience today. There had been a couple of negative reviews which we had seen but dismissed as we'd had such a good run with Wise in the past.
In terms of food, we ordered the 300g steak (nearly $70), tagliatelle ($34), and gnocchi ($34). Steak was ok but served with a cucumber cut in half which was more than puzzling. Not great presentation, not big on flavour. For the price you expect a perfectly cooked steak with tasty sides on the plate. The gnocchi was adequate in portion but that was about the only positive. The gnocchi pieces were very doughy, and no flavour. The pumpkin puree it was served on was so bland I would give it to a baby as their first food. The tagliatelle had adequate amount of squid included but lacked flavour.
The restaurant was very quiet, we were one of two tables indoors. There were lots of staff around but none were enthusiastic or particularly helpful. For example, no one checked if the meals were ok and we had to ask whenever we wanted more water rather than it being topped up. My mum at the end of the meal said that the ice in the water was the best part of the meal (we agreed unanimously). Mind you we had to ask for that ice because the water was warm.
The restaurant has amazing views of vineyards and ocean but needs some aircon and fans installed. I hope the restaurant can lift its menu and execution of dishes to match the great views soon. Until then we'll give it a miss.
Took my adult kids and toddler for lunch to end a beautiful week in Yallingup but we’re unfortunately were soooo underwhelmed and disappointed by the experience. Service poor despite not being busy, $68 for 300g steak with half a dill pickle, tasteless gnocchi needed to add loads of salt to help it, tiny serve of perch fish on cabbage, no aircon or fans on a 40degree day, warm tap water served (insisted only ice 3x). You get the picture. Have been there annually for some years and last year though not so good thought try it again but won’t be back next year.
Beautiful setting, most of the plates we ordered were good particularly the cold cuts and liver. Mains were a bit hit and miss - fish of the day was herring which wasn’t as expected - really quite smelly. Gnocchi was quite good but probably a bit too starchy. Wines were fab though!
