Lovely place, the staff are really friendly and helpful. The food is always good, the fish and chips are great. Also love that they have a senior menu which makes the whole nice experience affordable. Thanks to all the staff.

WOW! This was our first time at the Whale & Ale and we will most certainly be back! As soon as we walked in staff were attentive. Drink orders were promptly taken. Unfortunately I can’t remember our waitress’s name but her name tag had est. 2007 on it I believe. In my mind she sets the gold standard for service in this day and age. She was friendly, knew the menu well, check in on us during our meal and after. Our food was delicious. I had the garlic prawns which my co-workers will regret today. However, I do not regret them. Tender pawns, heaps of flavour and some bread on the side to mop up all the goodness. My husband had the burger much to my surprise cause he can be a bit fussy with burgers. He raved about it when we got home. The patty was good char-grilled taste to it and the meat was good through. Complements to the chef. Great assortment of international beers too. We will definitely be back.

Went to the retro 70-80’s night, if you could call it that! Appalling is all I can say! Pathetic first of all they got dates wrong was advertised as a Thursday. Retro you would expect a bit of a DJ with lights funky music and an average crowd of people. Hmmm well there was a DJ who had about as much energy as a dead person and that is it, no lights, no crowd and no atmosphere! Music was hit and miss. Some songs I’ve never heard of! More Motown than retro. Then to top it off at 10.15pm security come to tell us last drink and they shut at 11pm. 10.50pm DJ cuts song being played halfway through packs up and gone by10.55pm. Security ask us to leave and stood over us. Very intimidating and disrespectful. 6 of us in our 50’s+. We will not be back! Not for your Sunday roast not for anything! It is out local pub and in walking distance. No wonder this place is dead when staff treat clientele like this.

Went for dinner with my daughter the meals were tasty good size and reasonable prices.excellent coffee.great music not too loud you could listen to it.enjoy it and still have a conversation.friendly staff.good service.really good atmosphere. I look forward to my next visit.

Good variety and delicious food. My husband and I had our reception here in 2021 and it was just spectacular. Our guests had such a wonderful time and they loved the venue.

Fabulous counter meals. Awesome selection. We got 2 entrees for lunch & they were very yummy & quite large! We certainly didn't need anything else! Friendly staff & great selection of on tap bevvys too

Ok food. As the pub is in the middle of Little Britain it could make some British fare like steak pudding, steak and kidney pie, mushy peas, etc

My friend and I had the Chicken Supreme for lunch yesterday and it was excellent. Exceptionally good food and lovely hot plates. Portion size was beyond expectations. Ten out of ten. I will be back soon.

A great place with friendly, helpful staff. The Burger-of-the-month, Mi Goreng burger was amazing!

We were looking for a great pub meal and have been disappointed regularly
But the meal we had at the Whale and Ale was amazing! Interesting and creative menu, great service and value for money! Food presentation and quality was 10/10!
Our family of 5 had a very satisfying experience and we will definitely be back soon to try the other options this chef has on offer.

The service was quick and personable and our food was super tasty - huge serves too. Even our fussy 12 year old son was impressed!

Note - we received a very kind, yet unnecessary small discount to our bill (14th wedding anniversary). While unexpected, it just was the icing on the cake to what was an excellent family dining experience.

Well done, Team W&A! There are plenty of pubs out there who could take a lesson from you, short staffed or not. You should all be very proud. Thank you - from a very happy family of 4

What an awesome way to spend family time enjoying the sharing platter, was a very generous serving more then enough for two people, staff are very friendly, warm and welcoming, grandkids are going to enjoy playing outside as well as inside in the kids corner, plenty of toys and space for them to use their imagination and looked like a great range for them to discover as mum and dad enjoy a beer or two as well. Highly recommended.

Portion size ok. I had the sticky pork starter. It was dry, so didn't enjoy that much. Friends found their food similar. Steak was the size of a small palm with the price the size of an eight seater table. Not worth it. My first time back in 10 years, happy to wait another 10 years before going back again.

We had around 10 people for a gathering of a 18th birthday and the service from the ladies at the bar was amazing and the food was beautiful. Thank you

We had our daughters first birthday today at Whale and Ale. The booking of the venue and organisation was great with excellent communication. The room setup was changed to exactly how we wanted it. The food and drinks were great and above all the service was amazing. A huge thank you to the staff at Whale and Ale for making our girls birthday so special.

Well presented food, had to wait awhile to be served our food.
Covid 19 health sanitizer should still be in place in the restaurant and children's area sterile.
Sirloin could have been bigger for $36.
The fries with the lot for $13 was a surprise and we loved the three sauces.
We had a 1.5 y.o. Child but nothing was offered as a high chair or complimentary treat for her.
Love the high ceilings, and the fireplace temperature in the room was just right. Two types of lighting in separate areas, dimmer and bright.
We had to ask for the bottle of cold water and glasses on arrival.
Great easy accessible parking at rear, nice children's play room.
We had a pleasant night, thank you.

Extremely poor attitude on the part of the waitress that served us. An example of what can only be described as a complete and utter power trip.

Friendly staff, meals excellent, great to find a traditional meal on the menu not fryed or frozen

Visited a few nights ago the waitress we had was very passive aggressive and rude, treated me and my friends with an attitude, felt pushed into ordering and when half of our table hadn’t even finished eating yet the server came back and cleared the plates and asked of we wanted takeaway containers to go. The whole experience was very unwelcoming, we felt unwanted and disrespected. Will not be returning. It was over an hour till closing time aswell when we were pretty much shooed out the door so there was no reason to treat us like an inconvenience.
