Wavecrest Bar & Bistro

Hopetoun local tavern, restaurant, bar, bistro. A wonderful place to host gatherings, events, or just a nice night out with the family. Food is 7 out of 10, price is good considering remote location. Staff could be a little more engaging and friendly but get the job done. Overall a clean, well presented venue with pool table and darts, and TVs on walls in the bar area. Outside area as well with some facilities for nice outdoor eating. Steak meal is popular.

After travelling for 15 hours without being able to eat anything substantial I was really excited to arrive at this bistro.
They have a great atmosphere and the menu is good with options for everyone.

However, it was packed and when I made my order I was told it would be at least an hour wait…. Fair enough, I was starving so said I was happy to wait. I’m fact I was so hungry I asked if I could order a double serving of my meal to make it bigger.

After two hours of waiting I went and checked where my meal was and the wait staff said there had been a mistake and went to get the chef.
The chef came out and offered no apology he was angry.at me…. He asked my why I waited so long and said they won’t be making my food and that’s it.
Oh. Ok.
I am not sure what I did wrong. I was trying to be patient since the bistro was packed and they had told me to only order food if I was willing to wait “at least an hour”.

The uncaring, unapologetic and unnecessary attitude towards me from the chef was really surprising. Everything’s shut now so I guess I’ll eat in twelve hours or so:)

We all make mistakes. The place seems great. Would I ever risk going there if I was starving after a big 15 hour day driving? Nah lol

It was really good to see a lot of families both nights we ate there.
Food and drink are pretty reasonably priced.

We went in for the band and dinner.enjoyed the locals haveing a good fun friendly time while band entertained all kids up danceing just great to see.the meal was very yummy will call in again

Friendly and genuine service. There’s nothing vegetarian on the menu but they will make you a very nice veg pizza.

Food is amazing, but as an Italian, I find it very off-putting and cringe that your "Traditional Italian Carbonara" has literally no elements of "traditional" in it. At all. Except for maybe the pasta.

Traditional is; Pasta, Guanciale (pork cheek), black pepper, pecorino and beaten egg yolks. That's it! No cream, no mushroom, no parmesan, no bacon. It's laughable false advertising. Please change the name to "Basic aussie white mans carbonara" or something of the sort, because that is literally what is on your menu.

Other than that, the food we ordered was perfect.

The bar manager Lance is incredibly rude, tried to make us feel like criminals when we asked why we did not receive food we paid for.
