Great if you want to pay double for off brand music gear. I understand there are freight costs to Albany but that doesn’t justify that much of a markup, $90 for a $45 pair of brushes, come on.

I took my machine in with a big needle stuck under the bobbin- they replaces the needle that had fallen out of it place and even worked around some of the parts I'd failed to provide on the day.
Very crafty and intuitive- my machine works like a charm- thank you so much!

I don't live in Albany so all of my communication with Wakes was via email or phone. I can't recommend these guys enough! I have no clue about instruments but they helped me choose the right electric guitar for my beginner son and a beautiful acoustic for my other son. The pricing was great and they went out of their way to get my items delivered safely to me as cheaply as possible. This was a few years ago so they probably won't remember me, but I will not forget their amazing service

Avoid this place at all costs!
Some weeks ago my husband purchased 4 harmonicas from Wakes. 3 of them were very expensive at around $198 each as they are no longer being manufactured. All up his purchase came to about $680.
This morning I rang to see if I could purchase the remaining 4 harmonicas at a discounted price instead of the full price of $792. I was told by Eric in no uncertain terms that I would pay $800 for the lot. My husband said it was too expensive and he didn't want to pay out that much money.
So this afternoon I rang Wakes again to to buy the harmonicas for my husband as a surprise Christmas present. Eric then advised me that he had been in touch with the supplier and as they were no longer being manufactured the harmonicas were now $398 EACH!
What an absolute rip off merchant! There is no way known that is what he paid for them a long while ago when he actually put them into his stock!
I am disgusted with the "get rich quick" mentality of this business person. Wakes always did have the reputation of being rip off merchants a long long time ago and I'm sad to see that things have not changed over the years.
What absolutely despicable ethics you have Eric at Wakes Music. I hope people read this review and decide to shop online instead.
Even with postage added they are certain to receive the same items at much cheaper prices.
No stars would have been a more appropriate score had it been available.

Wakes Music Centre is the Oldest Music Store in Australia, under single ownership, by the amazing repair expert, hailing from Katanning Western Australia….

Mr Eric Wake Esq

A cornucopia of fantastic old school instrument and amazing NU-X digital technolgy compliant instruments <digital grand piano, guitar amplifiers, guitar effects pedals, digital drum kits>.

All orchestral instruments are sold and maintained. As an Conservatorium trained orchestral Conductor I wholly recommend the brand selection of Fontaine wind instruments. Me: <piano, clarinet, bassoon>.

Mr Eric Wake Esq stands alone in the Western Australian Repairing community & I recommend his services unreservedly

Walked into the store to pass some time while the family shopped in town and was greeted by Eric Wake who I ended up having a good old yarn to about guitars and he was super helpful and knowledgeable. While in the store I actually saw them help out a man who had his guitar stolen while busking who came in looking for some help. Definitely come here if you have music needs in Albany as it's by far the best.

I took my sewing machine for a service and was finished nice and early the next day as we had about 2 hours drive back home

I came into the store just to browse and Eric Wake was very friendly and was not pushy at all, we had a good conversation and one of his salespeople people showed me a new type of guitar that had just come out and I was genuinely interested.

I was encouraged to play to test it out and I enjoyed playing for quite some time without interruption.

I was complimented for my playing and I left feeling great about myself, the staff and the shop. I have been back several times since and will be doing business with Eric and his team.

Honestly such an awesome store, small but got almost anything you could need.staff are friendly, easy to deal with and above all know what they're doing. Would recommend to anyone in Albany, who is experienced with music or just starting out.

Looked at my Gibson SG guitar and insisted the pick up was faulty and needed to be replaced. It was taken to another store and a loose wire was found to be the fault.
