WA Shipwrecks Museum reviews
52A really wonderful museum, shipwrecks, early history of Western Australia and excellent displays and the lesser known story of one of the greatest mutinies, murder and rescue of ill fated survivors of all time. And it is free!
Lots of historical items on display in a beautiful state. And world only on donations! Amazing for the value.
A must do activity for locals and tourists of WA.
We were recommended to attend the museum by a guide at the Roundhouse. As Perth locals we had driven past countless times but never considered going in - What a mistake!
We loved the museum and entry was free (though there is an option to donate by cash or $5 by card which we did) which makes this place the perfect place for an educational holiday or weekend activity for families. The history encompassed in the museum is almost too incredible to believe, to see part of the Batavia and the skeletal remains of a victim to the atrocity was mind blowing.
Congratulations to all those who have put in the time and effort to make the museum what it is!
WA shipwrecks museum is a must see for visitors to Fremantle. It contains the history and artefacts from the Dutch ships run aground in WA and other numerous wrecks of western Australia I've been 5 times and will go again.
Absolutely unreal collection.
Such old artefacts.lots to see.
The xantho exhibit was my favourite
Beautiful museum and its for free But a donation is always welcome.
They have patr of the Batavia and t
Lots of other artefacts and information about shipping and the history of it.
Take your time there is lots to see.
This is a great place. If you go to were the cannon is out side at 1pm.you may be the lucky one to shoot it. It go's of with a bang
One of the female employees working there was following my family and myself around and keeping an eye on us like we were about to steal something. We felt very uncomfortable as it seemed we were being profiled. Definitely not a place I would want visit ever again.
WA maritime history. The Batavia on display. Fun activities for kids and a great gift shop. Located on near the water front.
Enjoyed walking around with the lady I was supporting, easily accessible for people with disabilities, has a lift to upper level.
Nice place to spend a few hours and learn some of the history of Western Australia and the Dutch exploration of the Swan River and Rottnest
I was amazed at this museum, I found it fascinating. The manner in which displays are laid out was quite evocative. Highly, highly recommend a visit. Easy parking.
Enjoyed a visit to the Shipwrecks museum - staff friendly and helpful - interesting displays and facts. Worth a couple of hours and just a donation for entry.
A place with very helpful staff and displays for everyone to enjoy. Free to go in only asking for donations.
Some fascinating stuff in this museum - learnt about many more shipwrecks than I'd ever heard about. Worth s few hours of anyone's time and no entry fee - just put something in the honour box.
An amazing place. The staff were very friendly and helpful but the exhibition were amazing, suitable for everyone to enjoy and to learn also.
Highly recommended.
I do love coming here with the kids but there was an event on which involved fire engine rides and jumpy castle. I looked this morning on the website and must have missed where it was running because I kept getting asked if I had a ticket, rides are free with a map. Get a map with a ticket, the kids were interested so I asked could they get a map. I got asked if I had a ticket, I looked confused and the kids were asking what it was about but the two attending just stood there offering no help or explanation. If it's a prepaid thing fine, sold out no problem but some sort of feedback would have been nice instead of just staring at us. We ended up moving through and it was lovely and quiet (due to the fanfare outside) and the kids had fun finding clues. Plenty of fascinating stories and history here, wheelchair accessible and toilets inside
Would have liked to spend time there on my own. Great exhibits representing decades of work. Small children can't appreciate it.
I took my 8years old daughter and she was fascinated. Really great educational on our Western Australia Maritime History.
