Village Hut Cafe reviews
22 The service was great, beautiful presented large portion. It is a lovely place to meet a friend for a cuppa or a meal.
Soft background music might be something that the owner may consider.
Overall a lovely place to visit.
Tasty, well presented food. Friendly, chatty owner. Cozy atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
What a lovely peaceful atmosphere we felt as soon as we walked through the door. Beautiful gifts arranged at the rear of the Cafe. It was not noisy which I love. I ordered French Toast with banana, maple syrup and cream.
The Toast was light and tasteful. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and came away feeling I had had a light tasty and enjoyable meal. The staff were friendly and obliging. Definitely will go back again.
My absolute favourite cafe! We’ve been ordering food from here, it always arrives hot and so fresh!
Can’t fault a thing:) everything is amazing
Used to go here regularly, haven't been for a while so thought I'd try it out again and I'm sad to say I'm disappointed. The ham and cheese toastie was cold, the cheese (grated) was not even melted and falling out the toastie. My grandmother had the chicken Mayo toastie and said it was so sweet and the chunks of chicken were huge. Not a great selection of biltong either. Won't be back unfortunately.
Ordered a full breakfast with 2 poached eggs and a beef sausage. Received 2 scrambled fried eggs and a very dried out piece of boerwurst sausage. Also ordered a breakfast burger which wasn’t great. Chips were soggy. No seasoning on anything at all. Were not enjoyable meals sadly.
Very pleasant spot, with great foods. Coffee in particular is done well.
The only negative for me is that the space is a little canteen-like. If that were improved, it'd be 5 stars!
(For lovers of rooibos tea, try the Red Cap! Great caffeine-free alternative to milky coffee.)
The Biltong here is absolutely top notch. Sometimes your favourite might not be available but the selection seems to rotate slightly with slightly different selections each time I come in, weekly (as of recently because I can't help myself). Lovely and efficient staff. The coffee is fantastic too!
Very friendly staff. Food was good. My husband liked that they had white pepper lol! We liked the African feel in the place.
Lovely place. Warm people. Really nice food and ambience. Books, knick-knacks, jewellery and other things to look at or buy while waiting.
I ordered chocolate caramel cake. It was name wrong. In fact it turned out to be moose cake with Slithers of cake an ¼ of teaspoons dabs of caramel. I dissected it. The you blonde lady kept on charting to the older couple at the table next to me, no one bothered to come and ask me if everything was ok. So when I went to pay, I explained what was wrong, I felt disappointed and she decided not to charge met for the cake. Point is, I decided to support Noelie, the owner, and this is what chanced me away. Will I ever go back, I'm not sure.
Popped in for a snack - it was yum and the service was great! Grab some Sow Thefrican groceries while you're there!
This cafe is quiet with a lovely atmosphere, ultra friendly staff and A1 barista. You must go if you haven’t been already.
Lovely local cafe and South African shop. Coffee is great and the cakes are amazing. Delicious South African treats like biltong and droewors too. Definitely worth a visit - don't miss the Village Hut Cafe in Woodvale!
Food was good, service prompt. A little attention to detail with serving customers after the meal would go a long way to improving the overall experience. A big variety of all the good South African treats available, fresh and tasty
Meant to do this a while ago I'm updating my review to a 5 because I said their new soy milk wasnt so great and the owner changed to the one I love. How great is that! It made me so happy (its the little thing's) Thankyou, you rock!
We enjoy going here most Saturdays for a curry mince toastie. Coffee is great and staff are so lovely.
Relaxed suburban cafe with good coffee, very friendly service and low key vibe. Just what I needed for an informal business meeting.
It's great! Just that little bit different & so worth a visit for those who haven't been there.
Lovely friendly staff and excellent food. Great vetkoek, and in-house cakes. Excellent coffee. Large range of SA foods and gifts. Love coming here.
Best beef jerky, been going here since it was once was called cape to Cairo! They have a great range of dine in options! We Really enjoy our breakfast” best snags” & the owner I’m guessing even let us try some chutneys! Amazing! Well worth it! Make The trip up to try this place! Great customer service too! See you again village hut.
