Vickery House reviews
18It is a wonderful accommodation for international student and I would recommend anyone to come join us. Most importantly, have a wonderful study experience in Curtin University.
Having an enjoyable time
Good place to stay at
Very close to curtin uni
Great staff and Great team of RAs always helpful
Its wonderful with me being here after Covid and did not have any relative or friend to go to. The process was easy and fast with most generous staff members and Resedential advisors too.
I had a great experience of living at Vickery house.
The office management and RA's create an excellent environment for living. I lived here in the past. For some personal reasons, I moved back to Melbourne, but now when I come back they are very welcoming and helpful.
It feels like home to me
DO NOT STAY HERE
Adele is mean rude and uncaring. I want Liz back. This place is a money pit targetting internationals who don't know any better. Literally everything costs U.
My pay came in after rent and while Liz allowed a payment plan and flexibility Adele doesn't. You don't get any help but " ask your parents" or " that's your responsibility" even in COVID, I explained I couldn't as I didn't have family here and she said " not my problem"
I have been staying at vickery for more than a year now and I am really enjoying the service provided by the office staff as they have been helping me out sort problems and making my stay more easy.
EDITED — OK accomodation, but at a very reasonable price (in 2023, it was $88/W for returning students) and when I was in the hospital the staff were very friendly in bringing my stuff from home.
This is a great place for accommodation. The staff and the service provided are magnificent. It is a home away from home. There is security provided is wonderful as well.
Very highly overrated and falsely advertised.the carpark is far from being secure.my son could not even access his room for three days due to fault of his and then when he got access had his car broken into while moving in.now he is back to living in his car so he feels secure.not good welcome for a country kid to the city and university.most disappointed
The location near Campus. There is place to hang out and different place to do laundry. The place is okay.
Vickery House took in my daughter and her best friend for 4 months. My daughter loved every moment with Vickery! She loved having her own room, pretty unheard of here in AZ colleges. She had everything she needed within the house & access to any needed items close by. She loved that she could join in with others or retreat off to her own room! The staff was beyond amazing, always taking good care of the property, very informative & always kind. They were good to me, her Mom any time I needed to check in on something. In fact they went above & beyond checking on her & getting her to a hospital when she became severely ill. Knowing she was in good hands so many countries away from home was the biggest blessing. Breanna loved her experience with Vickery, a safe place to call home!
220 per week, laundry: $4 for washing and $4 for drying<br/>Rent an ensuite room outside or nearby sch will be ard 150 per week
Although the accomadation costs are definetely cheap, the facilities provided are great, including a kitchen and a laundry room equipped with washing machines, dryers, and washing basins. There is also a common room and a music room with a keyboard, drum kit, speakers and guitars. The staff have shown great hospitality. Another advantage of living in Vickery house is the location between Curtin College and Canning College, which are only at most 3-5 minutes of walking distance. It is also a short walking distance to the Curtin University Bus station, giving a wide access of transport if public transportation is going to be your main transport. The difference of the size of the rooms are none. The only thing that will be different is the arrangement of the furniture in the provided individual rooms.which explains why some residents may complain about the lack of space. Other than that, it is also an accomodation that hilds some events to join in, which is recommended if you want to meet and socialise with new people. If you are also lazy to walk a ten minute walking distance to Waterford Shopping Centre via the pathway through Curtin Unibersity, there is also an IGA Suoermarket close by, along with a post office, and a Celebrations store (alcohol).
220 per week, laundry: $4 for washing and $4 for drying
Tbh: it is better to rent an ensuite room outside or nearby sch for just 150 per week
WORST HOUSING @ Curtin University since UNILODGE has taken over.
Dont be fooled with their market strategy- new students coming to Curtin University I RECOMMEND that you find a place outside the campus to stay.
These are some of the reasons you should NOT stay on CAMPUS;
1) They charge $8 for laundry per cycle ($4 for washing and $4 dryer) - this is ridiculous and the washing machines are small.
2) They don't have any sanitary bins in the toilets and expect you to throw it in the main being- they don't provide basic hygiene. Yet they say they look at the students wellbeing.
3) If your vacuum/ fan or anything in the house has a problem you have fix it yourself- i.e if your vacuum stops working they don't provide you with a new one. You can only borrow it from the office but have to return. The reason they told us is that they don't have enough stock of the items.
4) Do not sign a yearly contract with them, even if they say you get 1 weeks of rent free. This is just a marketing scheme. If you choose you do not want to stay on you have to find a replacement for you room till your contract ends.
5) Dont choose to be a RA- they underpay you and make you work like crazy.
6) The rent is $221, if you get locked out of the room during after hours you have to pay a $10 lockout fee.
I absolutely loved this place.thanks to Paul for making it such a great place to live at for all these years.kudos, shout out to sravya and Ben if they still work there.best staff ever!
Wouldn't really recommend staying in Vickery. Rents are high, rooms are small, really old stuff in the house. Truly depends on your luck.
Highly recommend curtin's residence, lots of friends, friendly stuff and manager, especially manager, too much friendly you will know how friendly they were once you stay for a sem.
