Universal Bar

Good and people were good, over all not a bad place I just found it to be hot, no real air flow. Makes it uncomfortable

It was nice to spend our Saturday night at Universal Bar
Security guys are very welcoming and responsive when asked for help

I was dragged out by a security without any explanation. Place to avoid if you are willing to have some fun! Do not advise go!

Won't be back me and my friend came to your bar on our way met a CLEARLY SOBER couple that was refused entry, when they tried to enter they said her partner could go in but not her, then I was like do you think thats fair she is clearly sober. The attitude I got from your security was appalling just because I said she was clearly sober,
He made us line up then stormed back and said get out I don't like your attitude, will never be back to your extremely rude staff member with a clear power trip. I have worked in emergency services for many years and I can tell you something I know the difference between a sober and intoxicated person I will tell you that, but I have no interest in entering a premises were a security guard has a ego bigger than perth, and clearly that was his only Job that night maybe he needs to re read his job description

Not bad, popped in after a concert, lots of backpackers. Drinks are expensive. It ok, not not many other options at midnight on a Wednesday.

I went today and ordered a chicken parmigiana and got sick. My stomach hurts.
The bartender wearing white top tonight was so rude. Maybe she should be better paid so she can be more friendly with customers.
I am not going back.

Love the band and music great spot although small love the upstairs area for a different vibe, love the DJ, live music, loved getting there earlier to talk and chat move around with hardly any people at first, it is best getting there earlier, had the most greatest time a fun night of dancing, singing and drinking it had been absolutely years since I had been there, gets packed like sardines though, a little bit squishy on tge dance floor, cab get claustrophobic at times, hence, loved being upstairs where my partner likes to have a smoke and I can still dance and enjoy different music loved being there had a great night and weekend.

Great location, great live music, good management, good service, Avoid the riff raff, come down here

Too loud. Why do these venues think that it is good to drown conversation with loud music?

Busy and full of old people trying to chat others up, had a creepy vibe and drinks were a bit overpriced for the venue

Spirits are watered down and food is pitiful. Steer clear of eating here. Bar policy doesn't allow you take photographs within the venue. Not sure what they are hiding.

Had a great time here. Older or young everyone welcome, band was good playing varied music, quite packed, also upstairs nightclub for the young set.

This place hosted our social Halloween Party again, and they didn't disappoint!
They decorated, they dressed up and they cooperated with us throughout the night. The staff were absolutely amazing and deserve a medal for their hard work!

No stars for this place. I was kick out, just because one waitress was in a bad mood. I wanted to order my first drink in a whole night. I will complain to management and go further on. Her behaviour was beyond normal to customers. She was kicking people out for nothing. Shame Shane.

Really nice pub, excellent place to stop in for a quiet beer during the day. Also goes off on the weekends if that's you're vibe

We had a good night then it seems like the staff needed to get some customers out in order to let more in. So since we were here since a while (dancing and having some drinks) we were invited to go out. Really insulting and disappointing.

First they always seem to be open, some people don't keep normal hours, so it's great to have as place to go

Second they always have great bands, good quality entertainment that people actually get up and dance to.

Third star the staff are friendly, security can be a bit and miss at times. Just like those who go there. Lol

Fourth good venue for a function, private bar area at the back, DJ. They also have an outdoor area as well.

Four over all,

IMO Universal is possibly the best live music late night bars in the city. 30+ years on and still as popular as ever. Kudos to the management for hiring attentive, friendly and customer centric bar staff and security. The kicker was listening to quality live music - great band and range of covers.

Charged me $38 for one corona and one shot of fireball.didn't realise until I saw my bank account the next day.rip off! Apart from that music was great, still a massive pick up joint though.alright if you like that.

Good place to catch up with friends for a drink. Good vibe and friendly service.
Stay on as they have great bands playing most evenings. So make a night of it.
