Third Avenue Surgery

I was told on the day of the appointment, I couldn’t see a particular doctor after having booked with her 3 days in advance. The receptionist booked me with another GP of whom I didn’t agree to seeing. Three weeks later was sent an invoice for $60.50 for a missed appointment! Called the surgery, advised the receptionist and got a ‘ah ha’, no apology and a terse response. Very disappointing.

This practice is staffed by the kindest, friendliest and most caring health professionals I've ever encountered. From the doctors, to the nursing station staff, the reception staff and the practice management, all have consistently provided excellent, skilled services to my family and I. Four generations of us attend this practice, some travelling quite a way to do so. I can say with my hand on my heart that Dr Penny Roe's skills, knowledge and compassion in providing treatment and referrals for my adult son saved his life, while Dr Bao Dang's empathic and incredibly thorough attention to my 90 year old Mum's many health issues is the single biggest reason why Mum is still enjoying life and living independently. These are just two of the innumerable examples of the way this practice has positively impacted my (large!) family's lives by providing the highest quality health care. We are all so very grateful to every one of them and wouldn't even consider moving to another practice - why would we, when we already have the very best.

1 star is given to the old lady receptionist.as much as I adored Dr Tammie, the receptionist brought me down and took the last straw. It was about over a year ago, I booked an appointment with dr Tammie, and was told she was sick so I am ok to change to another doctor. When I attend the appointment, the receptionist told me that the doctor also being sick. She said ”oh, we send you a message”, but I didn't receive any message. I showed her my phone and she just gave me the ” none of my business” look. I mean if that happened on the day, why can't you call your patient? ! So the patient has to pay if appt cancelled, but we are left in pain if the doctor cancels the appt. So fair! Since then I never come back to this practice. Dr tam, sorry!
I asked to transfer my health record, but the staff gave me the wrong form to fill which wasted my time. And being told I need to pay for my health record. All about money hey? !

Many appreciate for take my appointment at a really late booking time. Thanks Dr. Belinda, very patient and professional.

She is literally the worst GP I’ve ever seen!
I booked the appointment for 6 weeks immunisation for my boy, everything she did was rushed, not done properly and she is extremely rude!
- measured weight his without taking off the clothes
-she forgot to check his eyesight
-Rushed us through everything and told us to wait for the nurses for the vaccine. I said I have couple of questions before that. She pointed at her watch told us she doesn’t have time for that. We booked for a long appointment and paid money for that!
-she didn’t fill in the purple book which is so important. Every single health professional has filled it in except her!

I couldn't rate third ave any higher. Incredibly thorough doctors who are all very knowledgeable I have always felt listened to, and I know I can always trust whichever doctor I see. Everyone here is incredibly caring from reception to all of the doctors

I’ve seen a few different doctors here and they’ve all been kind, helpful and provided a high standard of care. Also the front office staff are really helpful and friendly, and although there are times where things are running late which is to be expected, more often than not the wait times are really reasonable as well.

I see Dr Cook and he's a fantastic GP- friendly, great bedside manner and very knowledgeable. I will be making this my regular surgery.

This medical practice is fantastic! The front office staff are friendly and always do their best to fit in last minute appointments. We have been fortunate enough to find Dr. Chris Bleakley and now call him our family GP. He is the most compassionate, caring and kindest GP we have ever had. Since day 1, he has been nothing but generous with his time and never makes you feel rushed. We feel very lucky to see him! Dr Penny Roe is also exceptional and can compliment in her the same manner!

Very disappointed about the service not recommended. Someone called me 2 days ago and tell me that i forgot to cancel an appointment SIX MONTHS ago and said that I need to pay in urgent $24.70 otherwise it will go to Aust Debt. Come on. Was Soooo funny.

I’ve been here 3-4 times now and I’m unfortunately not that impressed. I’ve seen two GP’s here but primarily Gwen, who I find isn’t overly friendly and you often feel rushed if you have more then one thing to discuss. They are busy and they do run late. Recently I asked if I could book a phone consult for the same day, the receptionist said “she may call you, she may not. You’re on the list, but she may not call you”. What does that mean? You either have an appointment or you don’t. I work in a private clinic, I know how things should be run. I’ve had fantastic gp’s elsewhere, this isn’t it.

I have been a patient at this practice for just over 20 year's. With my main GP being Dr Jane Purdie. At times when she has been away, & I've seen another practitioner, I'm still very happy with my treatment & care, & I'm happy to travel all the way from Rockingham.

Have recieved prompt, professional, caring service from Doctors but having to wait for over an hour after my appointed time to receive a flu vaccine was a bit much.

I booked in for my son's 6 month immunisations last week. Today I got a call to confirm the appointment and to inform me that as my son is a new patient it is practice policy that he is required to be billed privately for seeing the Doctor before his immunisations, which I was not informed of last week when I made the appointment. I cancelled the appointment and am taking my family's business to a GP that doesn't prioritise profit over people.

I have always had excellent care from Dr Christopher Bleakley and Dr Tammy Wong as well as all the other doctors and reception in this practice, including the after hours service and am thankful for all the staff for looking after us so well even though they are always very busy, which is a testament to the quality of the service provided. Thank you very much!

Took my 12 yr old son to see Dr Christopher Cook today. What a lovely and thorough Dr. Was very impressed. My son really liked him too. Thank you Third Ave

THIS SURGERY IS LOVELY OVERALL!
This review is for Dr O'Brien who I saw today. This was my first time seeing this doctors, although have been a patient of Third Ave for over 5 years now. Dr O'Brien rushed through the whole appointment (which was no more then 10 minutes) even though the waiting room as empty. She wrote me a script for a hormonal pill without asking or checking the system for my previous history. I was literally rushed out while still putting my clothes on.
Would never go back to this Dr, and would never recommend this Dr to anyone. There was no Doctor - patient care at all.

All the doctors here are so lovely and really take the time to help. I've never found it hard to make an appointment and the fact that they have an after-hours service here is so helpful. Will not visit any other doctors. Highly recommend.

If I could give it a 0 I would.
I only went 1 time as my doctor moved there. I booked another appointment however missed it due to an emergency. I called the next day and explained, I thought it was fine as nothing was said to me. Then I received a letter stating I owed $77 for that appointment. Not impressed! Now today letter from debt collector

My doctor is magnificent. The reception staff and management team are professionals who are also kind and exceptional. Other doctors at the surgery are also brilliant, I would give the 6 other doctors who I have seen at the surgery 5 stars. That's 35 stars out of 35 for 7 doctors at third Avenue surgery. I would not go anywhere else in the city to see a GP.
