The Sea Garden Cafe

Went up to get a quick bite to eat on New Year’s Day at lunch. Many items not available on menu due to no deliveries (understandable) so had to go to the counter to order and had to take my dog. As I walked back to my table, a staff member (owner apparently) told me in a highly aggressive manner that what was I thinking and I shouldn’t bring a dog inside as it was a restaurant (it’s just a cafe). I said I wasn’t aware assuming I had stupidly missed a sign (there was no sign). Ironically I pointed out to her that there happened to be someone else with a dog inside at the same time so it was clearly not common knowledge that dogs weren’t allowed at the counter. I was so shocked at her attitude that I left my dog outside and went to the counter to cancel the order. The same staff member then accused me of leaving my dog unattended (I was by myself, and had nobody to leave the dog with) and then incredibly doubled down and told me to F-off and to never come back (actual words… seriously). A dozen or so patrons witnessed the exchange and were completely shocked. I was so unsettled that I decided to leave my money and go. Credit to the two younger staff members who followed me into the parking lot, bringing my refund and apologising for the behaviour of their colleague. Can’t comment on the food. Just do not bring your dog… and hope that the owner is not there. The rest of the staff appear nice, setting is cool and food is allegedly good.

Very annoyed. We booked in the morning and gave our phone number as contact details. When we turned up at the booked time there was a notice to say the restaurant was closed. Not acceptable customer service.

Love the food, location, views and food service. Should be able to buy drinks without stand in a 20 people food line again, 20 minute wait and shuts early.

Very nice little café at Surfers point. The fish and chips was very nice and they offer it without the batter. The staff, among whoch some French are kind and professional. They are all here for a good reason. Surfing the waves

Beautiful cafe with awesome views of the ocean. We stopped in for breakfast, with my husband getting the The Big Breaky Burger and a Vegie one for myself. They were so delicious, especially with the hash browns in them.

The coffee here is really nice.

Great location. Great service. Great food. We were staying nearby and traveling in to MR to eat. So glad we managed to eat here once. Could easily have been more.

Favourite place at Margs.friendly staff, good breakfast and cold beer. Excellent atmosphere since breakfast till sunset.

This cafe overlooking Previlly beach is fab. With friendly staff, a nice little menu, beers, healthy drinks & coffee. Dog friendly, ticks all boxes
We had a lovely visit with friends & will definitely return

Gin and tonic on the deck… great view… great service… friendly and accommodating staff. Went back for breakfast the next day and certainly wasn’t disappointed. The food kept us going all day. Make this a destination when you are in the area… you too will enjoy your visit.

Perfect afternoon; friendly, attentive staff, stunning outlook with a slight breeze to take away the stifling heat, music (NZ laid back vibe today), and fabulous vegan burger (including cooked onions, home-made chutney, lettuce and tomato). Thank you

The staff were extremely friendly, the food was delicious with extremely generous portions & the bacon bloody Mary was exceptional!

Fantastic cafe with friendly and communicative staff! I had the best oat iced chocolate from here and a really lovely woman who served us. We went for breakfast the next morning and they told us it would be a 30 - 35 min wait for food, which is no worries as it was peak period and we were grateful that they gave us a time frame. The food was great, we both had eggs Benedict with bacon - yum! Oh and amazing location. So chill.

15 min wait for two beers - and it wasn’t even busy …

The Sea Garden Cafe is one of my favourite places to spend a afternoon. With a beautiful view, friendly staff and good drinks it's hard to beat.
