The steak sandwich was absolutely miserable, it wasn't steak, it was just sliced beef heated up, and very bland. The pub itself needs a whole revamp, it's getting to the stage where the carpet is smelling. Beer selection is stuck in the 90's, there's nothing enticing at all, only CUB offerings. Would not recommend.

Pizzas were really good!
Steak sandwich was chewy and fatty. Couldn't even cut part of it with a steak knife

Ordered burgers and the buns were stale. Ordered Master and was too salty and no pesto in it as it was advertised to be pesto pasta.

Nice place for a quiet gathering or afternoon drinks. Right on Claisebrook Cove in East Perth. Catch the free Yellow Cat bus from the city @ Wellington St, and get off at Haig Park Circle. Walk 50m.

I so enjoy The Royal on The Waterfront. It's located on the Swan River in East Perth among many other restaurants, cafe's and business's. It's a great ambience.

The food is excellent and the menu healthy. I had Australian garlic prawns and a simple salad. A really perfect lunch for me. There were many menu choices I would also have enjoyed. Next time!

Thank you so much to all the staff who were so welcoming and friendly, and to everyone who played a part there in a really enjoyable lunch experience.

The location is very nice.
My wife had sirloin steak and I had barramundi. The steak was very good, perfectly cooked and tender.
The barramundi however was terrible. It was very mushy and had a very strong flavor. I more often than not have barramundi when we go out for lunch or dinner, so over many years I've had my fair share, and this was not good.
The staff at the bar were good except for when they ran out of a certain brand of whiskey and out right refused to sell me the last of what was left, instead giving me a rather snarky comment.
The toilets were very clean and tidy.
The air conditioning in the restaurant area was very cold.
Overall a very nice place to have a beer and a steak.
Anything more is a disappointment.
I will go back, but not for anything more than a steak and a beer lunch.

Great venue to catch a drink with friends or work colleagues after a busy day. Very convenient (and covid friendly) table service via the table QR code or NFC tag - just tap to use. Just order and pay for your drinks without leaving your position. Super idea!

Great service, food and drink in a beautiful location. Took the puppy dog and she loved it too.

Great food and service, we had a booking for the restaurant side but arrived early so grabbed a drink on the bar / pub side, when we got to the restaurant we were surprised to see it was the same menu as the pub side

Nothing like rolling in on a boat one sunny afternoon and having a delicious meal on the waterfront: D can't fault this!

A lovely place for a meal and a beverage. It's also accessible by boat which means parking is no problem.:)

Asked to taste the Ide Fixe which is $16 a glass. More than happy to pay that but it tasted flat. Asked when the bottle was open. They said 2 days ago! Would
Never drink bubbles not opened on the same night. They refused to open another bottle. Saying they had to finish this bottle first. No other pub in Perth would do this, understanding the nature of champagne. Very bizarre and put me off coming back

They POUR? An Espresso Martini from a tap? Charge a fortune and it is the worst one I have ever had.

Very attentive staff. We picked the Royal as it is listed as dog friendly and we were meeting a friend with a small dog. Water containers are available for the dogs to drink, so the description was accurate and we were made very welcome.
Only criticism, inside the building there was really good music playing, yet nothing outside? Would loved to have had music outside also. I realise there there are homes close by and the sound will travel over the water, so low volume and lots of speakers, just for atmosphere, would have been perfect.

Big fat disappointment! We were hoping to get a table for 2 at around 3pm. But all of the tables were reserved so I asked the staff where we could seat but the staff responds were “just seat anywhere that hasn’t had the reserved signs” but all of the tables are reserved so we told another staff where we could possibly seat but they just gave me the same answers again.
No one were trying to give us a table whatsoever. So we needed up leaving cause no one were trying to serve us, maybe the air-con are too nice inside no one were willing to walk out to take out the reserved sign. I know you are trying to bring in the self-service system by ordering via app but some decent table services are also needed. If all of your tables are not open for customers, JUST CLOSED THE GOD DAME RESTAURANT!

Superb view, good food, perfect for lunch or dinner.
Parking can be challenging, but well worth a visit or three.

Very disappointing this time. Went there for lunch today. Entered via street level to find stairway shutter down & it appeared closed. No signs inside or out. Mrs telephoned, yes open but only by waterfront entrance. Suggested a sign? - care factor nil. Went down & not surprisingly near empty. We decided to sit just outside the booking desk door, told 'no table service' there but still same menu & prices. Had a browse before going inside to find out what specials / recommendations were. Told none, menu only. Left and had a nice meal and wine served to us where our presence was welcomed.

Im not here to bag The Royal, as I live 30 meters from the pub. Do I use the Royal? Not very often I go to The Grovenor 2 k's away! Why? Because they are owned by Colonial Brewery they are limited to Australian beers. If you are British and there are a lot of us, you have nothing. Even if you had Kilkenny in cans. Also at $14 a pint you are expensive. Food! Most people love Steak, chips and salad with sauce. Create a "house special" of a rump style steak for under $30, and you will have locals using you. Just a few suggestions. East perth resident.

I would like to start off by saying I have never left a negative review, I prefer to sort the problem out with the establishment at the time. This event was no different. We were enjoying ourselves at The Royal on the Waterfront before going to a show at Crown. We had excellent service from a man with an accent (we didnt catch his name) and had our entre promptly. We then ordered dinner and realised we were starting to push it for time. Dinner arrived and my $49 medium-well Rib Eye steak had been completely cut into long pieces and was definitely over cooked (I actually prefer well done, so this is saying something). The waistress that delivered the meal looked uncomfortable as she served the steak and said "medium-well" (as it had been cut into pieces, you could see the problem easily). In another situation I would have simply asked for another but time did not allow for this. I started to cover the steak in sauce to try and make the best of the situation, but then decided to take a photo to show for feedback when we we went to pay. When we went to pay I asked why the steak was cut into pieces and the waitress said it was for "decorative purposes". I stated we were not after a free meal and gave her our feedback. She then went and got her manager Sonny. I had to repeat the feedback again and was met with a hostile response from Sonny, I showed the photo- which was pointless given that I had already covered the steak in sauce and was told by Sonny "that's what medium-well is". I then said it was not even slightly pink and that it was dry. Again, met with rude hostility, Sonny said she would refund the meal. We stated that this was not our reason for providing feedback
and refused the free meal as our time constraints did not allow us to fix the issue at the time. I then proceeded to tell her that cutting the steak into pieces also meant that the steak goes cold. She cut me off and stated she was right next to the kitchen and that it was there for less than a minute before coming to our table. Had she lidtened, she would have realised I was referring to once the meal arrives. Mine was definitely hot when it arrived but unless you eat like a fast machine, by the time you get to the other "slithers" of steak, they are cold. The way this entire situation was handled was rude and dissapointing. We tried to give polite feedback without seeking any compensation and were met with a rude, hostile Sonny.
