The Bottle-O - Mercure Inn Broome reviews
6Only for hotel guests. Only for hotel guests. Must show hotel keycard and proof of ID. Alcoholism must be a pandemic in Broome. They allowed me to walk in but the other reviews state that walk in customers not welcome. Maybe I did not look like a alcoholic.
Staying within walking distance to this place and was refused purchase completely because I wasn't in a vehicle! Ive never heard of anything so absurd.clearly Broome has a booze problem with a particular group of its locals but as a visitor without other means of transport I'm completely at a loss to explain this nonsense.another customer encountered the same whilst I was there so we both left empty handed.avoid!
So no other bottle shops in Broome open on a Sunday. I stopped in to pick up a bottle of wine to have with a family dinner I am cooking to be told I can't buy unless i'm driving. Apparently this is a measure to stop street drinking? 1. This is a very sparsely populated area with barely anywhere I can imagine anyone would want to sit in baking sun to street drink. 2. Surely encouraging people to purchase alcohol while driving is the more dangerous option?
Really bizarre. I'll head to Divers instead.
Won't be back here, just been here for a drink and a look at the menu to go there for dinner tomorrow night, decided to get some take away alcohol. We were parked in the hotel car park. We were asked if we were guests of the hotel, when we said no, we were told that we couldn't buy anything as we were not parked in the drive through area. They lost about $100 in sales, their loss. HOW RIDICULOUS.

Just got there at opening on Sunday, there was a ‘queue’ of 3 cars one of which was a car with trailer taking up the whole browsing lane. We parked on the side in neither lanes leaving access to both lanes. We was then greeted by a woman very rudely shouting to move and stay in the car, when trying to explain we needed to look inside she ignorantly walked off, speaking to her colleague rudely too. We had to end up buying two random products as we was unable to browse. Very bad customer service!
