The Alcove at Joondalup Resort reviews
44 Took a group of ten there tonight, very disappointing, very slow service, waited and hour for entrees, then not all served at same time.
Main course Rib eye steak, served with just a few sprigs of watercress@ $46 not good value.
Won’t be back.
The food is amazing, with great service and a relaxed atmosphere.
We occasionally go for meals here, and the results are always the same. Fantastic!
We were looking forward to trying this place for dinner as the spa and resort was nice. We both ordered the grilled steak upon the recommendation from the waitress, which unfortunately was beyond disappointing… To the point where we were unsure if there was a mistake in the kitchen and they didn’t realise. Both steaks were extremely bland, I honestly don’t think there was any seasoning on the steak whatsoever. This was the first time I have ever used the salt and pepper shakers on a restaurant table. There was a chimichurri sauce on the side which helped, but it was not enough to rescue this dish. Calling it “grilled” was also a stretch, it tasted as if the grill wasn’t hot enough, like cooking steak slowly on a luke warm pan… We both left half the steak on the plate, it just wasn’t enjoyable. We will come back as we liked the staff and atmosphere but this was really a disappointment. The tiramisu was good, although the sauce had an annoying salted caramel aftertaste that felt forced and didn’t belong, I would have preferred they just stick to the classic recipe. Staff were lovely and attentive.
We had dinner at the Alcove and I have to say Disappointed is the only word I can use to describe the experience.
Chairs are too low for the tables and that in itself makes you uncomfortable.
The food was rather disappointing, not much taste and definitely do not order the flat Iron Steak. It wasn’t hot, was bland with not enough seasoning on anything. Lamb Rump was tender but lacking flavour. Seasonal greens were spoiled by the overpowering taste of the smoked Almonds that were definitely unnecessary, a sprinkling of sea salt would have been a big improvement. Potatoes were good enough but anyone can deep fry a potato.
I definitely wouldn’t recommend.
The food and service was outstanding. I had come from the uk for a holiday and I can honestly say I have never had the privilege of eating such exquisite food. It was as good as anything you see on TV. The whole experience from service staff to the food could not be faulted.
Food was good. Would have appreciated a bit more on the dinner menu to choose from, but having said that, the meals on the menu were quite delicious.
First visit for some time and since the appointment of Steven Clark.
Good menu and the food we had was excellent and well presented. The staff also were very friendly and efficient.
Overall a very good experience and every aspect of the restaurant has improved compared to my previous visits.
I will come again
Beautiful restaurant with friendly staff. Food delicious. But the food lacks vegetables. With the fish only two stalks of asparagus. I had to ask for a side of broccolini.
Buffet breakfast was nice and definitely valued for the price. However, the range of choices was not that much. Staff members was helpful and welcoming
Not much to choose from on the menu.
Hubby asked for rose petals on the table and we saw dried potpourri when we arrived.
Really enjoyed dinner at the lovely Alcove. Great menu, well presented and fresh tasty dishes, extremely pleasant staff and a calm inviting space.
We had Christmas lunch at the Alcove.
Such a wonderful experience from the variety and quality of the food, the set up looked amazing, food was brilliant. Staff were like friends welcoming you through the door. Thank you for our beautiful day everyone at Team Alcove. Oh and the sweets and cakes bar was OMG! Absolutely the BEST
I'd recommend Heirloom tomatoes for starters, fish of the day for mains and to finish off chocolate fondant. Excellence service.
We had lunch at the resort on New Year’s Eve. The service by Jess, Sara and Soph was outstanding. The drinks were amazing and the food outstanding.
Stayed at the resort & had dinner on Christmas Day in the Alcove restaurant, extremely disappointing, no atmosphere what so ever, we had to ask for maybe some back ground music, very few Christmas decorations, no Christmas bonbons on the tables, not even a Christmas tree & the menu was the same menu for lunch around the pool! Plus a 10% service charge when we had to get up 3 times & ask for some service to order drinks, dessert etc.disgusting considering it was Christmas Day, we were told that if we didn’t want to eat there the following evening then we should get Uber eats! Not great when you’re paying $330 a night to stay at a resort!
I am sorry to say the the English of the waitress was poor and she seemed to have a lot of difficulty understanding us. I asked to leave the pasta out of the lamb dish, my lamb dish still came with pasta. I am gluten intolerant and do not eat pasta. Then she bought a side dish for me to try and take the pasta out of the fish. That was ridiculous. I told her, yes told her as I was getting annoyed by this time, to take it back to the kitchen and have the cook sort it out. Finally the cook came out and suggested gnocchi instead which was ok. But was a palaver because the waitress didn’t understand what I was saying.
Excellent Christmas Lunch. The room layout was supurb. Could have done without the live music. Too loud and just not needed. Maybe some quiet background Christmas music instead.
Staff and atmosphere were lovely but food was average. Also big pots were blocking the great view outside
Recently revisited this venue with a group of friends to try the new Menu. Food was REALLY good, servings were generous and the service was exceptional. Waitpersons were happy and friendly (without being OTT) - and went out of their way to ensure that we all enjoyed the evening. Will definitely go back.
Sitting ourstide by the pool was relaxing and peaceful. Meals were well prepared, presented and tasty. Enjoyed our meal.
