The Actors' Hub Australia Pty Ltd reviews
29Being and actor is all about connection and community, the Actors Hub is a brilliant conduit for both.
I graduated my 3 years at the actors hub in December and am extremely grateful for my whole experience. The ups and the downs. The course is tough, it requires you to dig really deep into yourself and your flaws and habits to overcome them so that you can truly understand your characters to the depth of an actual human life. I'm a much more open and vulnerable and sensitive actor AND human being because of this training. It's world class and demands world class discipline and tenacity. It's not for everyone, but man if you really are meant to be an actor, this course is for you.
I have not personally gone here yet I know a lot of students that have left. If you are considering going here I strongly suggest looking up joining Scientology instead! Its cheaper, you will get less emotional and intellectual abuse and may actually progress your career a little as you may run into Tom cruise!
So good to hear The Actors Hub, employ and and secure paid acting work through their associated production company, for their students, providing employment opportunities beyond training. A recent show, One Punch Wonder, has had a phenomenal response, and secured sponsorship from one of WA's respected mining companies.to get the message out there to our young people. Go you Amanda Crewes! Great effort!
I would like to recommend a recent and still current show that has come out of "The Actors Hub" in East Perth "One Punch Wonder".
It is an extremely well executed and thought provoking play on a subject of immense concern in the structure of our society, not only here, but I feel safe to say, perhaps in most societies!
A fatal hit that cannot be undone.
This particular work was written and directed by Amanda Crewes, the owner & inventor of The Actors Hub and portrays this subject through the actors and story line from, I feel, a broad encompassing view of "All" who become effected by these tragic incidences.
I saw it last year and then again when it returned recently for a couple of shows before being secured with sponsorship to tour our Nth West soon.
It is a 'must see' especially for people working in areas or careers with our youth, also for future education and awareness of our up and coming young.
I hope there will be further opportunities here in Perth, [Sydney or Melbourne] to see this show.and spread this profound message further into our social structures. Thank You to ALL those who have made this production possible so far, it must feel rewarding. Kudos to You.
Do not send your child here. The woman who runs The Actors’ Hub seems nice but only cares about your money. She is a business woman and is not to be trusted with your child’s safety.
From reading the reviews already posted here, there are a few 1 star reviews that I'd like to address.
I myself am a graduate of the Actors Hub, so my review will come from my own experiences
The course is difficult. At no point is this hidden, disguised, or sugar-coated. It is designed this way to give you a small sample of what the industry will expect of you. You will go through tears, pain, dredge up memories but every drop of sweat is worth it.
It was one of the most exhausting years of my life undertaking their Gap Year course. It was also one of the most rewarding, as I came out of it a confident person, who had so much more trust in my own judgement and ability. It breaks down every wall you build, every facade you portray that protects the truest form of yourself, then gives YOU the tools to give strength to that form, to breathe life and fire into it, so that you become that person in every way.
I am not currently in the performing arts industry, but that is of no fault of the Actors Hub. I came to the decision on my own that while the course showed me that I have something special inside me that truly comes alive when I perform, I don't have the emotional stamina to maintain it as a career. I made the choice on my own to walk away, just as someone might walk away from their high-paying office job to start a family. Did I walk away with nothing? Absolutely not!
There is an audition process to get into each course. If you are accepted into the course, there is something inside you, otherwise you simply wouldn't get past the audition stage, just like getting into WAAPA or NIDA. A spark, if you will. The course separates the dreamers from the doers.
Addressing the license plates reading CONTROL.are you a graduate/attendee of the Actors Hub? I have my doubts, as there is a completely justifiable reason for those plates. Control is one of the most important lessons we learn at the Actors Hub. Control your emotions, so that you can channel them, relive them, access them when you need to. Control your body, so that the plate you're meant to smash on the floor doesn't hit the wall and spray ceramic chips all over the stage (a reference to a scene performed by my classmates). Control yourself, so that when you're in a scene, you are NOT yourself, you are whatever character you embody.
I am not saying that the 1-star reviews are wrong. I would simply take them with a grain of salt, just as you should with any review.
If one person reads this, it will have been worth my time. Make your own decisions, build your own path, be YOU
Writing a review for any sort of acting training is hard. Like many things, acting training really does depend on the person I believe. Some people work well with more method techniques of Stanislavskie and Stella Adler, other people may achieve their acting goals through non method techniques such as Brecht or Chekhvo. What makes people cry or laugh, or how people learn about themselves ect is different, depending on the person. Therefore, finding the right source of acting training can be like finding the right therapist. I attended the Actors Hub, and I did not realise how amazing the training was until after I left. I considered it more of a life training for me. Using the lessons I learnt through the course now on a daily basis. Although very unorthodox, the training at the end of the day is to a professional standard, and I guarantee it will improve you in some sort of area of your acting, whether voice, movement, confidences, or knowledge of self…. If you do the work (an important note, as I didn’t until I left, you’ll know what the means ones you’re there). I would recommend the Actors Hub, but it is not for the fait hearted, and will make you discover things about yourself you’ve been trying to hard. But… “the characters truth lies in the actors shame”. Love it, hate it, hey they both go hand in hand. The Hub is trying to do something no other acting school has done, and I can say it truely has made me a better actor and person. You can only experiences it yourself to know if it is right for you! And if you’re scared to take that risk… then mate you in the wrong industry.
I spent 2015 and most of 2016 at The Actors’ Hub and I am still working very hard to repair the damage they did to my acting, my creativity, and my mental health. Many of my classmates have come to regret their time there. If you want an indication of what they’re really like ask the school for evidence of their graduating numbers vs enrolment numbers, and the contract that they make you sign. Every year there are people who are kicked out, for various infractions, before the end of the year but are required, through legal pressure, to pay the full fees. Examples of actions listed in the contract that can terminate your enrolment there and forfeit your fees are: tardiness, ‘bad attitude, ’ and dating your classmate. I was one of the people kicked out, but that is just the tip of the iceberg of why this place deserves one star.
I sincerely hope they have changed this contract for future students. If not, you know where to take your business.
The very best coaches and opportunities. I soon realised this place is for people who want to get work in the industry. You get pushed to do your best and given the support needed. I get so passionate about it because it breaks my heart when I see people give up on their dream because they didn't get into NIDA and WAAPA when I know how good the training is here and so does the industry. It was my grandparents who gave me a newspaper cut out about this place and it changed my life. It sounds cheesy but its true.
The Actors Hub is a wholesome training ground for building you into the actor and person that you’ve always dreamed of being. The training is tough yet extremely rewarding and the experiences you have there are irreplaceable and priceless. I have learnt so much in my time there and I have also been endlessly encouraged by the support of the coaches to continue to learn and grow- beyond what I believe I can do. Excellent opportunities, staff and students- what a blessing is the Actors Hub.
For those wanting to watch or participate in the local acting talent this place is perfect. Participated in the gap 1 year of performance e and it has sky rocketed my skills in acting, cry and artistic career path. I highly recommend seeing shows, try some night classes or even doing a full year training.
The only thing that I know of The Actors Hub is the actions of the woman driving the company car with the license plates "CONTROL". One star only I'm sorry to say.
World class training, tutors and facilities. I've been studying here for two years, and will be continuing my third year, in 2019. If your serious about learning what it is to be an actor and have the skills to be ready for the industry, this is the school for you. A strong supportive community nurtured by both coaches and students, have your free next level break through today:)
Having studied around many different schools nationally and internationally (Sydney University, Curtin University, Stella Adler’s Studio of Acting NY) I have found the Actors’Hub the school that gives me the most challenges and pushes me to be industry standard with the guidance of coaches and a program built like the industry. The school covers the three speheres of craft, business and self and develops them with as much as importance as the next to hone you to be the actor and person you want to be. A course developed to get you your personal goals and create the life you desire as an actor and creative. Very practical and well networked with an alumni ranked with Australia’s top agents.
The Actors' Hub is one of a kind.
I've only finished my first year and it was an amazing introduction and transition into the world of the entertainment industry. It is a beautiful and safe place where one get the opportunity to explore every single aspects of acting (filming, stage craft, voice, body movement, and so much more.) and make the mistakes that are necessary to progress as a person to improve your overall lifestyle to move towards an A grade career.
I'm heading into my second year even more excited than i was for my first. If you are looking into a career in the entertainment industry i highly recommend that you come check us out in East Perth.
I have just graduated from the three year course, gearing up to meet agents and move to Sydney and I cannot recommend The Actors’ Hub more! The best acting training in the country! Thank you Actors’ Hub for getting me ready for the industry, any budding actors out there - this is the place to be!
The most amazing school. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is interested in acting! This coaching program has changed my life for the better and I will be forever grateful!
I started studying at the Actors' Hub in 2013 and couldn't recommend this school enough.
Not only was I supplied with Top-Tier training, a vast amount of acting opportunities, access to industry level film and theatre equipment, but I was given a space to explore Acting and my own ability free of ego and judgement, surrounded by a supportive cohort of students, and pushed to be the best Actor, and person, I can be by Coaches who not only have years of industry experience and knowledge, but have kind and compassionate hearts who understand your needs and work tirelessly to help you reach your goals.
For anyone who is looking to jump into the acting scene or perhaps are trying to find their way back in, The Actors' Hub is the place for you.
I started studying here when I was really fresh to acting and knew almost nothing. And over the years, I have been given numerous acting opportunities, coaching access to rehearsal space, filming equipment and extensive collaboration with fellow actors learning about the craft.
I honestly can’t recommend this place more. It changed my life and has taught me so much about acting and given me much needed confidence in my own abilities.
