The Abbey reviews
51 We went to "The Abbey" for sunday family lunch on 4th Feb 24. Ordered Popcorn chicken for entree which was delicious.but bring it out at the same time with main meals!
Even asked for medium rare Rib eyes steak, it was very rare and bleeding only 3 bites and couldn't eat it anymore.
Also, Lamb cutlets was disappointing as one of them which was pretty thick was uncooked!
Didn't have any pictures to proof but waitress took the dish to show to the chef (hope so!)
Dessert Belgium waffles was so awesome its the star of the day.
The best waffles ever had.
We had the most amazing experience at The Abbey. Cannot praise the staff enough for their friendly nature and for making the restaurant an accommodating place for families. Would highly recommend and certainly be back again soon!
Nice peaceful setting, staff friendly and salad ordered was generous flavoursome and nice fresh produce we will definatley return
One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had. Staff were extremely rude and unhelpful. Would not recommend this place to anyone and will not be returning.
Review from my 11yo- Here they are so nice they have great food I would recommend coming here for morning breakfast big meals good value
Excellent selection of quality food and even better beer. The venue is very popular and the friendly staff do such a wonderful job to ensure all customers are attended to. The Abbey has a great atmosphere with the added bonus of the Belgian lady, Léa, who has a huge knowledge of all Belgian beers. Be sure to ask her for her authentic recommendations!
Great place on Swan Valley, top Quality food, best around all Pert, Very professional, very friendly staff. Recommend to everyone.
A flavourful menu with reasonable prices. Service is friendly but slow. The drinks list is broad and members enjoy benefits when dining. Sitting inside by the fire is great but outside in the sunshine is also a terrific option - even on a cool but sunny winter's day.
Food was great! Service was terrable by a couple of staff the others seemed nice unfortunately the ones we dealt with had been rude or incompetent.
We went there to have some refreshments after our hike.
The ordering online process was easy and straight forward. However, of the 4 items we ordered, only 1 arrived. We ordered 1 beer, 1 chai latte, waffles and eaton mess. When they brought the beer for our friend the waitress informed us that the beer of my husband was out and he should go to the counter for an alternative, which is fair enough.
The problems really started when the food of our friends arrived. My husband and I waited for about 15 to 20min after our friends food arrived but nothing for us. When my husband went to the counter to inquire, they said that they lost the order and won't have the ingredients left to make the waffles. We demanded our money back which they did.
Overall a very unsatisfying experience.
The staff were lovely but the place leaves a lot to be desired. The food was overpriced and average. It could be a fantastic venue but is in desperate need of some TLC. The instagram page is very misleading.
Wait Staff and front of house staff were very friendly, efficient and deserving of. Unfortunately we waited nearly two hours for our meals to arrive (as did a group of four at the table next to us) due to two bus tour groups who had booked ahead. When the meals arrived, they were quite delicious, living up to their descriptions in the Menu. Our only recommendation to Management would be to look after small groups ahead of (or at least no later than) people who arrive later.
We visited The Abbey at Chester's for a chilled weekend lunch. These charming Swan Valley buildings stand as tribute to the original owner Sydney Chester, who built the premises in 1890.
The Abbey offers a selection of Belgium beers, Heafod Glen wines and delicious food. The rustic restaurant has seating inside and out, with a casual, family friendly vibe.
Our choices were -
Crispy pork tacos
Steak sandwich
Thai Beef Salad
Slow cooked pork Ribs with chips & slaw
Affogato with Baileys
All meals were delicious, good size servings and definitely value for money. I am partial to a good Thai Beef Salad and this did not disappoint. The ribs too were cooked perfectly!
Pooches welcome in the alfresco seating area too.

Beautiful gardens, friendly staff and amazing food. The steak sandwich was the best I've ever had! My only suggestion would be additional fans outside in the summer as it was a bit hot
Unpleasant reception lady with attitude, she was enough for us not to sit there and luckily we ended up down the road at the Henley Brook with much much better service and out door area for the kids and all.we didnt try the food so I cant comment on that but I'm not going back there and wont recommend to anyone
The Abbey is our favourite place to have dinner and bring our friends and family. The setting is beautiful, unique, and the owners are lovely. The food is consistently good (we have been more than a dozen times and never been disappointed) and the portions are massive, so come hungry! Although, with dessert always being an option, the Belgian Waffles and Chocolate Torte (pictured) are highly recommended!
It is the one of the best breakfast I have ever tried. I believe that the Benedict is the best in Perth. Also, fantastic environment is really attractive. The staff and owner were really nice and talkative. Strongly recommended!
Took our booking but no problem. When we arrived they told us there would be a 'bit" of a wait. An hour and a half later, upon asking we learn our food hasn't even been started. Absolute waste of time and we walked out so I cant comment on the food. Why take a booking if you know that you already have too many people for your cooking staff to handle in a timely manner? This place was a stop for us on a tour of the valley, and the unannounced 1.5 hour hole in our plans threw the rest of the day out and left a pretty sour taste in our mouths. Would never willingly come back here, very unprofessional.
First time visiting. Lucky we booked on line. It was a great day. Good choice on the menu. Loved the Cherry beer. There local wines are awesome. Just a nice atmosphere. Well done to all the staff at The Abbey.
Excellent setting, friendly service and great food. Had a great lunch today and will definitely be back.
