Swan View Tavern

Absolutely atrocious. Our family has always loved coming here since it was the “Pig n Whistle. ” The staff have always been super friendly and accommodating and even though the food is very hit and miss, it’s a family tradition for us to celebrate at this venue.

We came a few weeks ago for my birthday and brought in birthday cake which the friendly staff offered to put in the fridge. However, when we asked the staff to swap chips for rice as a side dish to the steak (my partner has dietary requirements), we were told this was not possible. My partner therefore decided to drive to Maccas (who somehow are able to cater for basic dietary requirements ‍️) and brought back two patties so he could eat with our family.

Today we went for lunch again, to celebrate my son being accepted into his choice of high school. Again the ten of us purchased meals and drinks and my partner went to Maccas to pick up some patties. The venue, for some unknown reason, doesn’t serve tea or coffee, so he picked up a coffee for my mum while he was out. This time it was a problem. The waitress let us know that no outside food could be brought in and we informed her of the dietaries not being met last time, which she accepted and everyone carried on with their meal.

Curiously, she decided to come back to our table in the middle of us eating lunch and began a lecture on the point which had already been made.

We asked why we were allowed to bring in birthday cake and patties last time but can’t bring in coffee or patties this time. She informed us it’s because they don’t serve birthday cake, so they allow people to bring it in. We made the point that they also do not serve coffee so why aren’t we allowed to bring that in ourselves?

Our reasoning was completely lost on the staff and the manager, who was horribly ill equipped to “manage” the situation. I realised immediately the asinine rules of the venue were surpassed only by the obtuseness of the manager and decided the best option was to leave our family celebration with food half eaten. Don’t mock the afflicted, as they say.

Very sad to lose our local as we have so many fond memories of celebrations and family get together as at this venue.

Want to order fish and chip cost $20. But would like mash and veg but was told I need to pay extra 18 dollar

Great food, definite value for your $, awesome staff, cold beer, what more could you ask for on a Friday night.

Went for lunch today, was told they dont do lunch. Went to bottleshop after, no prices on anything. Clearly business is good enough without the need for additional customers. Attenpted to contact via facebook, and was simply blocked. Very poor performance. Clearly accepting their poor performance, with the silence. Would not recommend. Try the darling range.

The meal was above average and the atmosphere was a really good family vibe. Well done to the staff

We come regularly and to night the ribs were terrible chewie dry not impressed normally fall off the bone

Top spot, great feed, awesome service, great prices, cold beer, good atmosphere. Been a menu upgrade as well

Just had the Seafood Basket. Crumbed prawns the best I have ever tasted - light, crispy and crunchy - perfection. The rest of the seafood basket was nicely cooked as well.

Super friendly wait staff, food was absolutely delicious and quite decent sized portions too.

This place is ok But more for old drunk men who like to gamble, not really good spot for youngsters.

We have just finished our dinner at Swan View Tavern. The schnitzel, Which would feed 2 people on its own, was huge, rump steak cooked to perfection and the beef an Guinness pie was so tender. Will certainly be coming back
The staff in the restaurant are a treasure. So jovial and friendly. So enjoyable. Prices are excellent. And the boys enjoyed the beers being full to the brim.

I not happy about not being able to get Coffee after my lovely lunch. I have never been to a hotel for lunch where they don't sell Coffee ️️️️

I've been there three times so far and the food has always been great with large portions. The friendliest pub in town.

Food portion is alot for me. Taste is good though a little over the doness I requested for. Selection of beer.
Ambience is cozy, a fireplace to sit by.
Well, being a sports bar, it can get a little noisy.
Will defenitely visit again.

We went to the Swan View Tavern on multiple occasions over the past 3 years. More often than not with our dog. When with our dog, we always stayed outside for drinks and/or dinner. Never had an issue, staff always friendly and welcoming to our pet. Well, we went there tonight with our pet (on leash) and sat outside as usual. No comment from the yardie nor waitress who even took some time to say hi to our dog. After being served a few drinks, my partner went inside to order dinner and was told that dogs are not allowed. We were quite surprised considering the previous experiences we had there. My partner explained that we went to this pub before with our dog and that it has never been an issue. The lady behind the bar (apparently owner) bluntly told him that she didn't believe him. As a result we had to cancel our dinner plan and leave the place. Looked outside for "no dogs allowed" signs and there were nowhere to be seen. No mentions either on the website. We simply won't come back (even without dog). Very poor communication.

Ordered three meals today, fish and chips and two steaks with chips and salad. They were all cooked exactly as ordered and requests for no salad dressing and gravy on the side were followed. The staff were great, too! Thank you, we'll definitely be back!

Great meals. Huge portions. Great value for money. Staff are polite and courteous. A different special each day of the week.

Was the first bad meal I've had there. The rump was cold, raw (almost mooing), & had a very sour taste. The ribs meat was so leathery I could eat it, by the time I got home I ended being sick from trying to eat it.

My local is bloody awesome and when I have to move I am going to miss swan view tavern. I will always visit as food and drinks and company is great

Firstly i tried to put my son into the kids seats and he early hung himself on the 1970s seats they have. Then Got the tasting plate, which was tasteless except the pork on it. Rest had no flavour, bread was also over cooked. Then ordered the surf and turf, which I was served an old steak which tasted like rubber, the garlic sauce was also tasteless. The salad was good though. Bit dissapointing.
